Where you stay is part of your journey. Sopoong means a picnic in Korean. It is where you may share and enjoy culture, history and friendship. Sopoong is for those people who know how to appreciate such values!
Other Things to Note
To all future guests to Sopoong Guest House,
Thanks to all those wonderful reviews on TripAdvisor and Airbnb, Sopoong could reach and maintain this number one position among more than 500 B&Bs in Seoul for a long time.
Our goal is to make guests feel like staying at a friend's home and enjoy all the cultural and traditional values in and around Sopoong.
We have to regretfully confess that we've seen some guests who chose Sopoong because they were interested only in the benefits that we provide or some guests who expected five-star hotel quality because Sopoong is top-ranked.
Let us make things clearer:
We always try hard to achieve our goal, but not all GOODies are guaranteed especially when you stay for a night or two. There are specific conditions in the Note (2014 Room Rates) on my webpage or could be shared directly upon your request.
Traditional houses (not just Sopoong) may not be very spacious nor very private. All guests are asked to consider others and to understand shared value as it is also big part of our culture.
Some facilities may not be super convenient, too. For example, bathrooms are not located inside rooms. Sopoong used to be a real home for locals and is not initially designed for a hotel. If you care such things over other values this traditional house may provide, then hotels may suit you better.
We strongly believe that guests who know how to RESPECT LOCAL CULTURE and APPRECIATE TRADITIONAL VALUES would be able to fully enjoy at Sopoong.
I have enjoyed my life. My job is my life. I sincerely hope I can continue this genuine service to those who truly understand what I strive to transfer to my guests.

We had an enjoyable stay at Sopoong guest house! It's winter but the rooms' heated flooring and thick blankets kept us really warm. KJ and Summer are very friendly and showed us around the Bokchon Village area and recommended places to visit. It is a very unique experience and we will definitely recommend our friends and family here when they come to seoul. My dad and mum were really happy during their stay here!
We had a very good time at the Sopoong Guesthouse. Although we had already understood that the hanok stay is meant to be a traditional experience, we were rather relieved to see modern amenities (toilets, etc.) :). KJ and Summer were very hospitable, from the little welcome gifts, to the heat packs and postcards, it felt very personal. I especially enjoy the floor heating and gosh, those blankets were the thickest I've ever experienced! We went to a few eat/coffee spots which KJ had recommended, and they were really good recommendations indeed. The cherry on top of the icing was that it started snowing on the day we were meant to check-out.. Watching snowflakes through the warmth of the hanok was an exceptional experience.

Host was very nice, explained about Seoul on first day and have us some short presentation where to go and eat and very considerate about his guests.
Yeah, it was great hosting you two especially people from California! (Although you both were from North Cal not So Cal...) I just want to make you jealous that I will be soon flying to California this August to attend my friend's wedding. Anyways haha thank you for the review and hope yo see you again!
It was an awesome experience! Youmi received us very warmly and helped us get settled. Even though we did not get to meet KJ, Paul and Youmi helped us a great deal. The neighborhood was very beautiful and if we had to stay in Korea again, I would not hesitate to go back to Sopoong! Kansamnida!!
Thank you for all your kind gestures and great reviews here on Airbnb! Well, Sopoong must not be perfect in every aspect, but I believe you know how to appreciate other values we provide for our guests. It was awesome hosting you all and hope to see you back in Seoul some time in the near future! =)

I Googled your comments and as far as what it translated is right I could only see great and sweet words from you. It was real great having some wonderful conversation during tea time and casual times. Your couple both had a sense of humor all the time! Hope to see you again! Take care back in Holland or the Netherlands!

I love photography, travelling, music, writing and PEOPLE. That is why I have been to some tens of countries and explored three different colleges in three different continents. I have family friends who are more than just friends in those areas and have friends almost everywhere in the world. Making new friends and hanging out with oldies are such a great pleasure in life.
Life is all about happiness. I realized it from deep in the heart that most people forget about the fact that each life is just ONE-OFF no matter who you are. Life is not such a thing like making ourselves a better product, which I am satisfied, and then showing off to others.
Several years ago I sincerely thought about how to live a real life and wisely spend my youth before it gets too late. So I decided to do what I am happy and confident about not only in the results, but in the processes as well.
Sopoong is not a hotel. It's more like a local friend's place in a shape of traditional house. I may become your friend by freeing myself to be part of your happiness in life and you be my part of happiness in return. I truly welcome those who know how to appreciate little things.
