Linda and Earl are very generous and helpful hosts. the place itself is lovely. It was great to get up in the morning and see the ocean in front of you, and to do to sleep at night with singing birds outside.
the house surrendered with coffee trees and it was blooming when I was there.
the house itself got all that needed and much more. I liked it a,lot!
A charming apartment with incredible views! Earl and Linda were more than accommodating with our last minute trip; we really appreciated their hospitality and flexibility. We'd definitely stay there again!
Linda and Earl are super friendly hosts and the little apartment is a real treasure. We've been provided with fresh fruits, coffee and a lot of local snacks upon arrival. Moreover, they gave us some tipps about good snorkeling spots (go to "two steps", we've spotted spinner dolphins, sea turtles, humpback whales and rays there) and even offered us to rent their boogie board - which due to the bad weather, we unfortunately never used. The apartment is cozy, equipped with everything you'll need and has a fantastic view down to the ocean.
Linda and Earl were wonderful hosts! We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay on the Big Island. The room was very clean and so well stocked. It had everything you could ask for including great snacks and drinks! The view was great and the breeze was wonderful for sleeping. We would definitely recommend this spot to others.
Linda and Earl are friendly and had a nice stash of snacks waiting for us upon arrival, including yummy biscotti! While they were available to us if we needed something, they really respected our privacy.
My wife and I stayed here on the second half of an anniversary trip to Hawaii. Our flight got in late and by the time we got our rental car and made the short drive from the Kona airport, it was after 11pm. We drove down the dark, winding road until we saw a flashlight guiding us to the driveway and to where we needed to park. Earl greeted us and gave us a brief description of our living quarters and the property. He knew we were tired so he left us to settle in and crash for the night.
The next morning I spoke with Linda for a few minutes about the property and things to do on the island. Linda told us about a beach north of Kona where you can see turtles and spot breaching whales off the coast. We later went to the beach and it was amazing. Linda also told us about Two Steps, a perfect snorkel spot that was a 5 minute drive. We swam with sea turtles and wild dolphins at this spot (went there 3 times total during the trip). Excellent suggestions.
Make sure to walk the 100 feet down the road to the Painted Church. The church property is beautiful and historic and well worth your time.
Linda and Earl were very inviting and they gave us a lot of really good info and were gracious with their fruit that they grow on the property. They were excellent hosts!!!
The living quarters were perfect, just what I was looking for. It was really nice to have a full working kitchen. Our hosts provided us with water, juice, milk, snacks and fruit. Great Wi-Fi connection as well.
The property was lush and beautiful and away from the crowded Kailua-Kona area. It was an easy drive into Kailua or north to the airport. We went all over the west and south areas of the island and Captain Cook was a great spot to start each day. There are a number of great places to eat in the area.
We would certainly stay at A Place in Paradise again and we have already recommended it to family and friends.
We cannot wait to visit again!!!
Linda and Earl couldn't have been more hospitable! Little treats left daily on our doorstep, a bottle of wine to celebrate the new year and the kindness they showed to us daily made our trip all that more special! Thank you for everything! Dee and I had a grand time!
We have recently retired and are looking for vacationers that are adventurous in the day and want to come home to a quite oasis in Paradise at night. We decided to stay by the Painted Church and the Puʻuhonua o Hōnaunau National Historical Park in Captain Cook ,Hawaii, because we like Hawaiian history. From our location, we love the 180 degree view of the Pacific and always sit out to watch the sunset. Come join us, watch the sunset, in our quiet peace of paradise.
