My neighborhood is a quiet, diverse suburb with trees and uneven sidewalks. The train station is about a 15 minute walk and gets you to NYC in 35 minutes for $12.50 round trip. There's a bus stop nearby but additional connections are needed to get to NYC. Montclair has tons of restaurants with a wide range of prices and palettes. Most are BYOB. My immediate neighborhood has a Chinese take out, pizza joint, and Caribbean take out so if you arrive starving, food is immediately available. The 15 minute walk to the main drag brings you to lots of shops, antique stores, a museum and coffee shops. There's a University at the far end of town.
You have use of the common rooms, kitchen, living room, dining room, and you can keep food in my fridge, and cook if you like. There is FIOS internet but no TV. :(
Interaction with Guests
I'm pretty laid back. I will make recommendations on things to see and do in NYC. I work full time but will be happy to chat at days end and hear about your adventures. My husband and April, the cat, are my co-hosts.
Montclair is a pretty urban/ suburban place with lots in walking distance. Nice to come home to after a day in the big city.
15 minute walk to trains, Uber friendly so get the app, buses on the corner to get to shopping and restaurants if you don't like walking.
The cat can go in and out.
Food in the fridge should be labeled.
Last one out locks the door.
Clean up after yourself.

I have extra rooms since my children have moved out. I'm in a nice neighborhood of single family homes, safe for walking to and from the train or bus.
