My neighborhood is a quiet, diverse suburb with trees and uneven sidewalks. The train station is about a 15 minute walk and gets you to NYC in 35 minutes for $12.50 round trip. There's a bus stop nearby but additional connections are needed to get to NYC. Montclair has tons of restaurants with a wide range of prices and palettes. Most are BYOB. My immediate neighborhood has a Chinese take out, pizza joint, and Caribbean take out so if you arrive starving, food is immediately available. The 15 minute walk to the main drag brings you to lots of shops, antique stores, a museum and coffee shops. There's a University at the far end of town.
You have use of the common rooms, kitchen, living room, dining room, and you can keep food in my fridge, and cook if you like. There is FIOS internet but no TV. :(
Interaction with Guests
I'm pretty laid back. I will make recommendations on things to see and do in NYC. I work full time but will be happy to chat at days end and hear about your adventures. My husband and April, the cat, are my co-hosts.
Montclair is a pretty urban/ suburban place with lots in walking distance. Nice to come home to after a day in the big city.
15 minute walk to trains, Uber friendly so get the app, buses on the corner to get to shopping and restaurants if you don't like walking.
The cat can go in and out.
Food in the fridge should be labeled.
Last one out locks the door.
Clean up after yourself.

Lovely neighborhood. Betsy and Jay were welcoming and helpful with any questions we had. We had a nice bedroom and we enjoyed coffee on the porch in the morning.
Our daughter came to stay on the top floor for a few days. She also enjoyed her stay and loved the house.
I enjoyed staying with Betsy. The house is well suited for travelers seeking a place to stay. Nice area
I loved staying at Betsy's house. Everything was very clean and well organized. The room was comfortable, and I loved the bathroom with the stars on the floor and the claw-foot tub. I had a great time chatting with Betsy; she's very friendly and easy to talk with. I have no complaints!
The Host was nice. They welcomed me well.
Betsy and Jay are awesome. This was our first airbnb experience and was great. We stayed here for 2 weeks and really felt like being in home. House is very clean and calm. Betsy and Jay were friendly and caring. We are very happy with our stay and highly recommend.
My son and I had a very short, nice stay at Betsy's home. She was kind to arrange a room with two separate twin beds and stay up late to accommodate our late arrival and late Chinese take-out dinner. Neighborhood and home is nice, the train station is about a 15 min walk through the residential neighborhood. All the usual amenities, Betsy seems to be the experienced Airbnb host!

I enjoy meeting new people which is why I choose to share my home with you IF you complete your profile with picture and verification.
I have extra rooms since my children have moved out. I'm in a nice neighborhood of single family homes, safe for walking to and from the train or bus.
