This private room is just waiting for business or vacation travelers. It is well price but does not include breakfast. Coffee or tea avail, take out within walking distance. 15 minute walk to NYC trains, takes 35 minutes to Penn Station, $12.50 rt.
This is a 5 bedroom home from which most of my 4 children have gone. I have 2 bedrooms to let, each one sleeps 2 people, Check "other listings" at bottom right. Each room is priced the same and each room sleeps 2 people.
This room has a queen size Ikea bed, very comfy. It has a bit of floor space and one extra person can fit if necessary. It is on the 3rd floor which has a second bedroom, and a bathroom which you will share if both rooms are occupied. Sheets & towels provided..
You have use of the common rooms, kitchen, living room, dining room, and you can keep food in my fridge, and cook if you like. There is FIOS internet but no TV. :( I work a full time job so don't provide breakfast other than coffee of tea.
My neighborhood is a quiet, diverse suburb with trees and uneven sidewalks. The train station is about a 15 minute walk and gets you to NYC in 35 minutes for $12.50 round trip. There's a bus stop nearby too. Montclair has tons of restaurants with a wide range of prices and palettes. Most are BYOB. My immediate neighborhood has a Chinese take out, pizza joint, and Caribbean take out so if you arrive starving, food is immediately available. The 15 minute walk to the main drag brings you to lots of shops, antique stores, a museum and coffee shops. There's a University at the far end of town.
I'm pretty laid back. I will make recommendations on things to see and do in NYC. I work full time but will be happy to chat at days end and hear about your adventures. My husband and 26 year old son live here too and April, the cat.
The cat can go in and out.
Food in the fridge should be labeled.
Last one out locks the door.
Clean up after yourself.
I stayed in Betsy's house for a week and it was a very nice stay. The place has everything nearby and the house was very clean and beautiful. Betsy is a great host.
I've stayed with Betsy several times now, and every time the stay has been excellent. This time I brought my wife along with me, and she too had a very nice stay.
As always, the room is clean, prepared, quiet and private. The next door bathroom is the same. Betsy is extremely courteous and helpful, but also allows for easy and convenient entering and exits.
Homie place and nice people. She took me at the train station and I appreciated it a lot, thankss :)) I stayed there only for one day but I really would like to stay more !
I had a great stay with Betsy and her husband who are warm and friendly hosts. The other room on the 3rd floor was empty so I had the top landing (and bathroom) to myself - private and comfortable. Their house is walking distance to a few restaurants, but I had my car so drove 5 minutes to the main drag and found terrific food! I recommend Ani Ramen for dinner, Raymond's for brunch and Café Momo for lunch after a visit to the Montclair Art Museum. Hope to come back when the weather's better to hike around Eagle Rock Reservation (great views!)
I totally enjoyed my stay at Betsy's. She was very helpful and responsive to my questions, it was easy to get in and we felt right at home. The neighborhood is very nice; I highly recommend it.
Staying at Betsy's house was comfortable and un-fussy! We arrived amid their preparations for Thanksgiving, so met the family and then we retired to our very private room on the 3rd floor. (There were no other guests so we had the large bathroom all to ourselves.) We would love to stay again!

I enjoy meeting new people which is why I choose to share my home with you IF you complete your profile with picture and verification.
I have extra rooms since my children have moved out. I'm in a nice neighborhood of single family homes, safe for walking to and from the train or bus.
