  • Susan and Dave made us feel really welcome and comfortable at their place. Susan showed us around and had breakfast set aside for us. She has lots of recommendations for dining and hiking nearby. We loved having the water access and the kayaks. We went out on them everyday! It was so nice to be able to travel with our dogs. We had a great time and hope to return!

  • Everything was perfect. Susan and David were fantastic hosts and provided the perfect getaway. The place is located in a very beautiful part of the Russian River. The total bottom part of the house is what you will get with plenty of room, and there was plenty of room for the two of us. Susan and David live upstairs and Susan was often available to give great insight and tips for eating or winery trips. She was easily accessible and didn't mind stopping her chores around the property to chat for a bit. And what a property! Beautiful flowers and trees all around but the crowning glory really is that river. We went into the river and it was another world out there. They have kayaks for you to use - TOTALLY RECOMMEND IT, it just took any care away that I ever had. The view was spectacular. Some people were just swimming in the river too, there's floaties available. The house itself was well decorated and the linen and bed were soft and luxurious feeling. Susan had great food and snacks for us for breakfast and throughout our stay. The fresh fruits were fantastic, some were from her yard. Although it's in sort of the middle of nowhere, there are several wineries and world class eating places about 5-15 minutes away. We really want to go back (right now if it were possible). Thank you Susan and David, it was a fantastic stay!

  • Susan and Dave are my first airbnb experience! They are truly wonderful hosts--friendly, welcoming, and helpful. Let's just say the standard is set pretty high now for all my airbnb experiences to follow! As soon as we entered their property from the road, we knew we had chosen a gem of a place to stay. You just can't beat the access to the river which is just a few steps away from the porch. The living quarters are very well appointed, spacious, super comfortable and private. My favorite time is sitting on the porch swing reading a book with the river just steps away. Ahhhhhhh, so relaxing. After three days of river beauty, it was a bit hard to leave such a cozy and relaxing place and to say goodbye to Susan and Dave...but hopefully we will return!

  • My sister and brother-in-law decided on a last minute getaway to the Russian River and Susan and David were so accommodating, they provided everything one could want for a wonderful weekend at their beautiful home on the banks of the river. They even contacted me to ask about their preferences in yogurt and bagels! My sister loved all the treats, the comfortable bed, the spacious, private spot on the river bend; the friendly welcome and great recommendations. They had a wonderful time, and I loved the chance I had to meet another gracious pair of AirBnB hosts. I'm only sorry that I didn't get to stay there myself, even though Susan and David offered me a kayak sail as well. Thank you so much for everything!

  • David and Susan's place is amazing and so peaceful. It really is a little slice of heaven right on the river. They had continental breakfast available for us, kayaks available for use and a great little private apartment. We didn't get a chance to meet David but Susan was a top-notch host who went above and beyond to make our stay there incredible. My wife and I decided to go kayaking when the river was low and since we only brought flip-flops, Susan was nice enough to find shoes for us to use.

All in all it was a great experience and we can't wait to go back.

  • Lovely place, nice people. Don't miss kayaking on the Russian River. Not exactly in the middle of things but easy enough to get anywhere for wineries and restaurants Very quiet, comfortable place to stay in beautiul surroundings far from the maddening crowds. This was our 2nd trip to Sonoma and staying here made it far the best experience. If this is what you're looking for you'll surely find it here. We told Susan to let us know if they want to sell.

  • Was a great experience. House and area are better in person and pictures do not do it justice. So many amenities at the house that if you forget something, you will likely find it there. We utilized the kayaks on the river a fee different times which was great. Susan and David do a great job of checking on you and making sure you have everything you need. They also love to give suggestions of other local activities and areas of interest.

  • My partner and I had a wonderful weekend at Susan and David's riverfront house. We got to pack in a ton of recommended activities including hiking in the Armstrong Redwoods, a nice champagne tour at Korbel, and eating at some great restaurants. On top of that we got to do a little kayaking straight from the front porch. The best part is that we still felt relaxed and disconnected the whole time.

Susan and David were such great hosts, making sure we found the place easily and even providing a nice continental breakfast in the morning. I highly recommend you visit them in this amazing part of the world!

  • What a stay! I had so much fun at David and Susan's retreat in Sonoma! Everything was just as described, and David and Susan were just so responsive and friendly both before and during my stay. The location was perfect for me--close enough to the Dry Creek Valley (about an hours drive) that I could hop on over to the Passport to Dry Creek Valley event during 2 days of my stay, close enough to restaurants in neighboring towns that I could easily grab a bite to eat rather than fending for myself, on the Russian River across from a bird sanctuary, and surrounded by the most amazing hills/mountains just a few miles east of the Russian River's end at the Pacific Coast! It has a "in the middle of nowhere retreat" feel while still being close enough to needed amenities. David and Susan also couldn't have been more wonderful. I'd uncharacteristically underpacked, and found myself to be quite cold when the temperatures dropped in the evenings. I mentioned to Susan that I was going to go somewhere to buy a sweatshirt, and she was generous enough to provide me 3 of her own sweatshirts/sweaters just in case I'd rather borrow than buy! When it came time for me to have a kayaking adventure, David not only brought the kayak down to the rivers edge for me, but helped me push off as well. Kayaking from their location is not to be missed, by the way!

It was truly a wonderful experience. Just the getaway I needed!

  • This was my second stay at Susan and David's property and we enjoyed it just as much as the first time. The apartment was spotless when we arrived and generously appointed with food for breakfast, fruit and some chocolate for late night Scrabble games.

The location, right by the river, is fantastic and we again enjoyed some kayaking and walking along the coast, only a 10 minute drive away.

Susan and David are perfect hosts and we look forward to returning in future.

Our Russian River home is like arriving back from a beautiful vacation! The winding roads throughout the wine country are always changing with the season. We lived in Germany for 3 years as a newly married couple and traveled throughout Europe. Our next adventure took us to Colorado & Vail, a start-up ski area. For the next 10 years we skied, camped in the National Parks when we had time from work & raising our sons. During this time we found the northern California coast. The Pacific Ocean intrigued us with its rugged beauty. So we would to love to share this part of this world you. While living in the wine country part of Germany, we enjoyed staying in small pensions or private homes through out Europe. It was fun to meet the "local" family and learn about their food and way of life. As our family and friends came to see us in Europe, we showed them how we traveled & their best times were staying in Bed & Breakfasts or rooms in small homes. Living in northern California in the Wine Country is a special place! We love good food and wine, art, music, gardening, sports, traveling and meeting new people.
