About This Listing
Greetings! This is my modern,1-bedroom apartment in the Central Business District (CBD) of New Orleans. It is one of 3 units in a building recently featured in the New Orleans' Times Picayune as a Historical Landmark.
Located 3 blocks from the Superdome and one street off of Canal Street, this space on the fringe of the French Quarter is ideal for a short or extended stay in the creole city.
The space itself includes a full kitchen with all new appliances, 1 bedroom, 1 bathrooms, two balconies (one that's entirely private), four fireplaces, washer/dryer, and a cozy living room. :)
One block from the Canal Streetcar and directly on the bus route, this location is optimal for accessing the city's local transportation and is a mere 4 block walk from the French Quarter. It is also located next to one of the city's best local lounges (Handsome Willy's) and a fantastic local pizzeria.
It's also ideal for Mardi Gras routes and JazzFest. Accompanies 2 comfortably. Could do three, depending on sleeping preferences! (couch or air mattress).
Lastly --- there is a TV that can be used for DVD viewing - but I recently decided to get rid of Cable. Just too much to do with my time and when I have TV as an option?! I am glued! Going back to old school. :)
My belongings mean a great deal to me - so I simply ask that all things are treated with great care. :)
This was our first airbnb experience and although it was a little odd at first walking into someone else's home it quickly started to feel comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay and the converted building is just precious. It is probably not an ideal pick for someone used to a more quite suburban or rural environment since there are hospitals and a fire station nearby but those that sleep with the tv, noise machine, or city living it will be just fine; ).
Emily's apartment is beautiful and has that old world charm to it. Love the brick walls! The apartment is located just off canal street with easy access to public transportation. It's near enough to the French Quarter while a good distance away from the mass of tourists. One thing to note - while it's an easy 15 min walk from the FQ during the day, as a solo female traveler I did feel a little apprehensive walking home alone at night. If you're traveling with a friend though, I can't imagine a better place than this space. The apartment is huge and can easily sleep 2-3 people.
Emily's home is absolutely beautiful and was just the perfect place for my boyfriend and I to stay during our NOLA trip! We visited during Jazz fest weekend and hotel prices were ridiculous, so we were very lucky to have found Emily's listing on airbnb, as it was much more affordable than any hotel we looked at. The location was great, close enough to walk to the French Quarter (5-10 minute walk), but far enough away to where you didn't have to deal with constant noise from the streets. We didn't get a chance to meet Emily, but she was a wonderful host regardless. She was great with communicating with us and making sure we had everything we needed for our stay. We would love to stay here again the next time we come to New Orleans!
The place was beautiful, very cozy/homey and clean! The days in NOLA are very humid so it's lovely coming home to a well air-conditioned home! The bed is super comfy and Emily was kind enough to leave us 4 pillows! As previous people mentioned it is located right by a hospital so be wary that there are frequently ambulances. It doesn't bother me bc I work in a hospital but if you're sensitive to noise, bring ear plugs. Balcony in front and back is a nice touch! Beautifully decorated space, and Emily was just a text message away if we had questions about anything
We loved staying Emily's flat! She communicated promptly with us prior to the stay and gave clear instructions to everything we needed when we arrived. The flat was perfect for what we needed; clean, organized and really made us feel like we were in a unique New Orleans building. The flat is relatively close to french quarter but required a decent amount of walking which we anticipated and looked forward to. It made a good launching point to all parts of New Orleans. I would definitely stay here again. Thanks Emily for making our stay great!
