Fun neighborhood! Great room! Easy access to downtown - mass transit and free street parking. No cleaning or extra guest fees. Come and go as you please. Late arrivals and last minute bookings ok.
Dresser and hanging rack available for your clothes. Iron and ironing board are also provided.
Enjoy this comfortable room in our West Philly home. Easy to get to on mass transit (walking distance to both the 34 trolley or El/Blue line). Come and go as you please. Last minute and late arrivals ok.
Our neighborhood has lots of great qualities - we are walking distance to a local food co-op, Farmers Market, playgrounds/parks, and many community/arts spaces (Rotunda, A-Space, Calvary, Studio 34 ), several nice cafes including several with vegan options, and great reasonably-priced and delicious restaurants (including Ethiopian, Vietnamese, Laotian/Thai, Middle Eastern/Halal, Indian, and American). We can suggest local events to check out during your visit! We have materials for you with information about our neighborhood restaurants, shops, and community spaces. Our neighborhood is an easy 15 minute trolley ride from downtown.
We have two very friendly cats who would be happy to snuggle with you, if you let them.
The room has two windows, a queen sized bed, a desk with books and office supplies, and a dresser for your clothes. A/C in summer, heat and space heater in winter. Guest room is stocked with several books about visiting Philadelphia. The room has a tv with international satellite (Sorry, but the English options on that tv are pretty limited. Mostly Arabic tv stations). We have wifi internet access.
Plenty of free street parking.
We especially welcome international travelers - Aziz speaks English, Arabic, French, limited Spanish and limited Italian.
Babies/small children are welcome to stay in room with parent(s) if you want to share the bed. (We have a sweet toddler, and she will share her toys!)
No smoking in our home, but we have a front porch you can smoke/hang out on. Enjoy the very authentic Philly experience of hanging out on a row house porch!
Free wi-fi, empty dresser for your clothes and place to hang items that need to be hung up. Towels, shampoo and soap also available!
Interaction with Guests
We will generally be around/present during a guest's stay, and of course want to greet you and make sure you have everything you need. We are happy to help with restaurant/sight-seeing suggestions, but otherwise we will let you go about your business.
We have a binder full of things related to our neighborhood - lots of things happening here all the time. But it's hard to beat Clark Park on a warm Saturday - for the food trucks, farmers market, playground, dogs, kids with swords playing roleplaying games, playground, soccer, volleyball and basketball…plus whatever festival might be happening that day!
Easy to get to using the 34 trolley or the 52nd Street El stop (a slightly longer walk, but still reasonable on a nice day). Plenty of free street parking. Coming from the airport you're going to want to use a taxi. Technically you can get here using mass transit from the airport, but unless you are on a REALLY tight budget, I recommend a taxi. It will cost about $20-$25 NOT using the flat airport taxi rate.
Other Things to Note
We will respond quickly to any questions you may have - just send us a message!
We are happy to share the fridge and microwave, but you are expected to do your own dishes. No drugs, drinking, or guns in our home. If you've been drinking, please retire to your room rather than hanging out in the common space. We have two cats already, so we hesitate to allow additional animals in the house, but will consider this request on a case-by-case basis. Our cats are indoor cats, but they will try to escape the house when you open the front door. If they get out, don't panic - they will stay in the front yard until we can get them back into the house.
We are open to your feedback and will happily respond to any questions you may have. Thank you!
Aziz and his wife were very loving and so considerate! The cats were adorable and I would recommend that stay to anyone. They gave helpful tips about where we should go and how to get around. They also made us feel like we weren't in the way or vice versa.
Aziz was very welcoming and friendly, he is an experienced host. He had water ready for us in the room, and also has a book of restaurants and such in the area. The area had a lot nearby, however some may feel a bit unsafe walking around alone. We didn't have any issues, but the neighborhood is borderline.
Staying with Aziz was awesome. His house is comfortable, his family is a delight, and Aziz is the man. We chatted about life, and I genuinely felt like I was a guest being hosted by a friend. He even took me to play pick-up soccer with his friends.
Staying at Aziz place was so great! The space is so comfortable, clean and spacious, identically to the pictures in the listing. The house is well located; even though is not on the East-touristic part of Philly, it is so close to the trolley stop and you can get to Old City or nearby in 20 minutes or so.
Aziz and his family are lovely! They always made you feel welcome and had the best recommendations for having fun in Philly!
Whenever getting to Philly, don't think twice about it! Stay at Aziz :)
Genuine and nice people. Extremely flexible and adjusting. Thanks for the stay.
The house and bedroom were very comfortable and were as described. Aziz was gracious about the fact that we arrived even later than we had anticipated due to traffic and made us feel very at home. The two cats were very affectionate, which I enjoyed. The bed is firm and comfortable. There's a space heater in the room which was set so that the room was very warm, but it's adjustable if you don't like it so warm.
The house is easy walking distance to the little cluster of cafes and restaurants near Baltimore and 48th, and is also close to the Baltimore Ave trolley line, which runs frequently.

I am a stay-at-home dad with my darling baby girl, Basma. Her name means "Smile" and she lives up to the name. I am an immigrant from Morocco, and I speak Arabic, Moroccan (Darija), French and English fluently. I speak/understand a little Spanish and Italian. I've lived in Philadelphia for 13 years and can advise you on area attractions and restaurants (including vegan options). I enjoy soccer, and have coached on the local youth soccer league. My wife, Melanie, is an activist and is connected to the local social justice community. She worked at a local homelessness non-profit before she started at her current position at the Philadelphia School District.
We plan to use the Airbnb funds we raise to buy my mom a plane ticket from Morocco to Philly so she can hang out with her grandchild! It's a worthy cause! :)
