Other things to note
Street parking on one side of the street only: you'll see where other cars are parked, so park the same way! :)
I expect everyone to sleep well and explore Des Moines! I expect visitors to be mindful of the cats when entering and leaving the house so they don't slip outside. And PLEASE, PLEASE don't leave wet towels on the cedar chest at the end of the bed.
Think of this as more like staying at your uncle’s house than staying at a hotel. As much as you can, follow the campsite rule, and leave it as you found it!
Don't bother making the beds when you check out. I'll take care of that!
Take out all trash and recycling to the trash and recycling bins beside the back door. There is a box of garbage bags in the cupboard.
If you made coffee, discard the used coffee filter and grounds, and pour the remaining coffee down the bathroom sink, and rinse the sink of residue. Leave coffee cups by the bathroom sink. If you open the wine, feel free to take the rest of the bottle with you. If not, leave the bottle, corked, on the coffee table.
Remove all leftover food in the fridge and take it with you or discard in back.
Check for any items you may have forgotten. The items most often forgotten are undies, socks, phone chargers, and shampoo.
Leave the key in front of the living room TV.
Turn off all lights, space heater, and/or electric fireplace.
Shut the sliding door to the lower level.
You'll have my phone number for emergencies, and I'm often right upstairs. I grew up in Des Moines, so if you have questions or want recommendations for dinner, ask me: I'm super opinionated! :)
I'm a librarian. I could eat Italian food three times a day, and my 2017 resolution is to figure out this thing called relaxation. How does that work?
My favorite quote:
I am somehow less interested in the weight and convolutions of Einstein's brain than in the near certainty that people of equal talent have lived and died in cotton fields and sweatshops.
