Brilliantly located for London Luton airport (12 minutes by rail- 2 minutes walk to the railway station) stay in our magnificent historic manor house, with gorgeous Anglo Indian four poster.

We have two other bedrooms available-so can accommodate 6-8 in total-in a self contained area.

The space
The bedroom is in the oldest part of the house, dating from the 1390's. Strangely, however, that fact can only be discerned by visiting the Little Parlour, directly below. The East Bedroom has been heavily Georgianised. It benefits from a fabulous Anglo Indian four poster, dating from around the 1840's.

The room is furnished with a variety of antiques, including a wonderful, early 19th century Chinese lacquered cabinet on stand and a Regency toilet mirror.

The house itself is one of the oldest in Bedfordshire, retaining a vast number of period features.

Guest access
There are coffee and tea-making facilities in the room. We supply high quality bedlinen, towels and bath products. You benefit from access to the room up the main staircase of the house-a 17th century oak masterpiece.

You will use the main hallway of the house-which is a sixteenth century half timbered room, filled with antiques and a number of our artworks and curiosities.

There is a Bechstein grand piano in the Little Parlour which you are welcome to use. We even have a Fender Telecaster guitar and amplifier and a harpsichord, should you be of a musical bent!

We offer a sumptuous continental breakfast in the Great Parlour.

Other things to note
Do feel free, in any event, to wander the grounds. There is a zip wire and trampoline for older children (for obvious reasons, these are to be used with parental discretion and subject to whatever level of supervision you consider appropriate. We have an electric toy car which can be driven by smaller children and we can set up a table tennis table, should you wish. In summer we often erect a badminton/volleyball court

Location

Harlington, Bedfordshire, United Kingdom

Harlington is a pretty mediaeval village. It has a 13th century church and numerous half timbered houses and cottages. There are two pubs and a range of village shops, including an excellent cafe. Best of all, we are only two minutes walk from Harlington mainline station – and you can get to London, door to door, in only 50 minutes. In one hour you can be at Tate Modern.

We are brilliantly located for all forms of transport. The M1 motorway is only 1 1/2 miles away, the railway takes you to London, Brighton and further north to Nottingham. Luton airport is 10 minutes train journey away and the M25 is 20 minutes drive.

The house is on the edge of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty – the Chilterns National Park. Wonderful walking and cycling can be had from the doorstep of the house.

There are lots of quaint local towns and villages (Ampthill and Woburn being prime examples) and endless leisure activities – such as nearby CenterParcs, Woburn golf course (an international venue) and indoor skiing and water skiing at Milton Keynes, 13 miles away. There really is no better touring base for viewing the principal tourist sites of south east and midland England than Harlington.

During your stay
We meet and greet all our guests and love to chat over a glass of sparkling wine. We always love to hear what our guests are doing and will gladly suggest itineries-whether they be trips to London, walks in the adjoining beautiful countryside, fine dining at Luton Hoo or Woburn Abbey, day trips to Oxford, Cambridge or the Shakespeare museums in and around Stratford on Avon. We can even act, for an additional fee (to be discussed, depending on itinerary) as a tour guide, taking you, by car, on day trips. That includes London-we are very familiar with the city, having lived there for many years.

If requested, we can generally (subject to the school run!) arrange breakfast and sometimes even an evening meal.
