This unusual and charming wooden house offers a peaceful and harmonious getaway. Admire the breathtaking views, take a refreshing dip in the sea, and unwind in the sauna – a truly relaxing wilderness retreat with a private jetty.
The cottage is ideal for a couple or a family, accommodating up to 5 guests. It works best when 2–3 guests are children, as there are three daybeds.
If you are traveling with teenagers, we can offer access to an additional bedroom in our work studio just up the hill
The space
Architect-designed and award-winning sea cottage with stunning water views, enjoy both sunrise, sunset and if you are really lucky you might catch Aurora!
The house is set literally “on the water” on a small island in Saxarfjärden.
Windows and patio doors all around provide an incredible connection to the sea. The cottage has a unique, spiral-inspired layout with split levels, creating both openness and separation. There is a well-separated deck on the sea side with stairs leading down to the water, as well as a sheltered deck by the entrance—both enjoying evening sun during the summer.
The cottage includes a small kitchen with an oven, ceramic hob, fridge-freezer, and microwave.
The cabin is located on an island without roads or public transportation, so access is by boat taxi. Alternatively, if you have boating experience and rent one of our aluminum boats for the week, transport is included (see details below).
You will have your own private jetty and also access to a shared wood-fired sauna and shared dock, used by the other house on the property.
Guest access
The sea cabin is located on an island without roads or public transportation.
You can borrow life vests, but I may not have the exact size you need, so please check in advance or bring your own.
There are two kayaks, a SUP (stand-up paddleboard), and some fishing gear available to borrow.
There is also a common area (“allmänning”) where you can borrow and play social games such as kubb or boule (pétanque).
Other things to note
You need to bring most of what you will need to eat and drink during your stay. During high season, grocery delivery with “Mathem” may be available.
(Drinking water is provided – the tap water is safe to drink, and there is a SodaStream for sparkling water.)
The toilet is a Cinderella incineration toilet, which burns waste into ash. The shower is outdoors.
There are no public transports, so a boat taxi is required to reach the island, it costs 700:- / way. However, if you choose to rent one of our boats (see the last photos), pickup is included. Please note that booking and prepayment are required.

Where you’ll be
Värmdö
Stockholm's outer reaches center on archipelago boating, where rocky shorelines, pine-covered islands, and fresh herring are woven into daily life.
From the host
If you have nautical competence you can rent an Aluminum boat to see your surroundings and during high season visit the shops and restaurants of the neighboring islands or the mainland.
