Elephant Cottage is built at this beautiful bay with a water-view 8’ tall window & sliding glass door opposite a comfy loveseat. Cozily enjoy wind and waves traversing the bay. Watch dancing sunlight sparkle on the water. Your private patio under the apple tree is complete with table, chairs and a charcoal BBQ (bring your own charcoal). Free wireless in the cottage, on deck, in garden and patio.
When you walk through the gate, you are greeted by cheerful flowers, picturesque trees, and stone sculptures that welcome you to the small private patio. At the patio a gate opens to the 14' deep deck and glistening water that flows underneath and to the opposite shore of Tomales Bay. Charming, peaceful and magical as morning lifts revealing an unforgettable view of the National Park...as the tide rhythmically flows in and out offering music of lapping the shore and pilings…as the sea birds call out and clouds pass over to an ever-changing vista of sky and water.
Enter the artfully designed, light-filled cottage that opens to the patio and deck at the water and find you are still surrounded by natural beauty. An 8' sliding glass door looks out to deck and water, large windows and yet another glass-paned door frame lovely views of the trees and gardens surrounding everywhere you look. The complete kitchen complete with all equipment you need to prepare and serve meals offers a delightful view of gardens through the porthole window.
The bathroom offers an experience of luxuriating in art and beauty… exquisite tile work, a charming sink with copper bowl set atop a beautiful redwood burl base, and an 8 jet Jacuzzi tub with a large window looking out at the private garden and cliff top with sky beyond. It's a WOW!
The cottage is furnished with a comfortable queen Murphy bed and love-seat sofa-both look out on the water-cafe table & chairs, a writing desk, profusion of enticing books for a quiet, inspiring or scintillating read. Sit on the deck, climb down to the rocky beach at low tide (access is shared), or enjoy gazing at the water in comfort in all kinds of weather from inside the cottage or out. If you gaze long enough, you'll notice a seal or otter swimming by. You may see kayaks from the near-by concession paddling across to the beaches on the far shore or an occasional Park or oyster boat pass by. At various times of the year the Bay teems with sea birds, schools of herring, salmon, dolphin and feasting seals. If you’re lucky sea otters may invite themselves onto the deck.
Elephant Cottage is an incredible and inspiring setting for the thinker, writer or painter part of us all. This is the perfect setting for when you long to slow down, open yourself and be nourished and restored in a quiet, serene place overflowing with nature's magic. It’s ideal for a retreat, for just getting away from the fast pace and noise of 21st century life. Elephant Studio is a place to ponder what's really important, or for a couple wanting to enjoy and connect with each other in a quiet, nourishing and romantic space.
Should you want to pull yourself away and enjoy a walk, you can wander the old fashioned Marshall Boat Works, enjoy delicious sandwiches and decadently irresistible barbecued oysters at the Marshall Store overlooking the water, chow down at Tony's Seafood or walk the other way to the lively and delicious happening at the Hog Island Oyster Company.
If you can stand leaving even longer, there are great beaches and hiking trails in Point Reyes National Park. You might enjoy a walk on its endless miles of white sand beaches or gazing upon the abundant wildlife: the herd of albino deer, Thule elk, nesting American Bald Eagles, unbelievable variety of plants and ancient redwoods, or, visit the award winning Visitor Center and carefully restored Native American Village, Kule Loklo.
Take a short drive (30 minutes) and you can walk Dillon Beach and buy fresh crab from the boats of Bodega Bay. Just 15 minutes in the other direction is Point Reyes Station, then Inverness and Olema all of which offer a variety of fine restaurants and shops to explore, and great entertainment as well. A twenty minute drive North on Highway 1 brings you to Freestone and the Osmosis Spa, offering enzyme baths in a Japanese garden setting. Out-of-this world bakeries can be found in Point Reyes Station, Tomales and Freestone.

PLEASE BE AWARE: At this time AirBnB does not add the 10% MARIN COUNTY OCCUPANCY TAX (applied to the amount of rent, only. not cleaning fee or deposit amounts). We are required to collect this tax from renters and must collect directly from you. You must pay us directly by check or cash during your stay.
Guests have access to the cottage, deck, private garden, hot tub and boat ramp.
Interaction with Guests
We do not disturb guests who have private use of the house, deck and garden during rental period. Manager is available by phone or in person to answer questions or to handle emergencies

SHORT TERM RENTAL AGREEMENT
This Short Term Rental Agreement (the “Agreement”) is made by and between Nancy Young (“Homeowner”) and (website hidden) “Guest” as of the date last set forth on the (website hidden)/(website hidden) website. For good and valuable consideration, the sufficiency of which is acknowledged, the parties hereby agree as follows:

The property is furnished and includes linens, towels, kitchen ware & appliances as well as games, book/media library and equipment.
2.Rental Party: The rental party shall consist of Guest and the following persons:
3. Maximum Occupancy: The maximum number of guests is limited to 4 persons. An additional charge of $20 per person per night for guests in addition to 2 will be assessed.
4. Term of the Lease. The lease begins at 3:00 p.m. on the “Check-in Date” and ends at 11:00 a.m. on the “Checkout Date”.
6. Rental Rules: Guest agrees to abide by the Rental Rules attached as Exhibit A at all times while at the property and shall cause all members of the rental party and anyone else Guest permits on the property to abide by the following rules at all times while at the property.
7. Access: Guest shall allow Homeowner/Manager access to the property for purposes of repair and inspection. Homeowner/Manager shall exercise this right of access in a reasonable manner.
8. Rental Rate and Fees
a.The security deposit is for security and shall be refunded within 10 days of the Checkout Date provided no deductions are made due to:
i.damage to the property or furnishings;
ii.dirt or other mess requiring excessive cleaning
If the premises appear dirty or damaged upon Check-in, Guest shall inform Property Manager or Homeowner immediately.
9. Cancellation Policy: If Guest wishes to cancel his/her reservation, the fee will be refunded as follows:
a. 100% refund minus $50 processing fee if cancelled up to 30 days prior to the Check-in Date
b. 50% refund minus $50 processing fee if cancelled between 30 and 15 days prior to the Check-in Date. If unit is rebooked for the original reservation dates 100% of rent, or a portion thereof depending upon number of nights of the rebooking, can be applied to a future reservation.
c. 0% refund if cancelled less than 15 days of the Check-in Date. If unit is rebooked for the original reservation dates 100% of rent, or a portion thereof depending upon number of nights of the rebooking, can be applied to a future reservation.
10. Insurance: We encourage all renters to purchase traveler insurance
The parties agree to the terms of this Short Term Rental Agreement, as evidenced by the signatures set forth below.

1.Smoking is NOT allowed indoors.
2.People other than those in the Guest party set forth above may not stay overnight at the property. Any other person in the property is the sole responsibility of Guest. Total number of people permitted on property when renting the cottage is four unless prior permission has been sought and granted.
3.All of the units are privately owned; the owners are not responsible for any accidents, injuries or illness that occurs while on the premises or its facilities. The Homeowners are not responsible for the loss of personal belongings or valuables of the guest. By accepting this reservation, it is agreed that all guests are expressly assuming the risk of any harm arising from their use of the premises or others whom they invite to use the premise.

Parking is limited to 2 vehicle(s). Vehicles are to be parked in the area in front of our property fence. Parking on the road is not permitted. Any illegally parked cars are subject to towing; applicable fines/towing fees are the sole responsibility of the vehicle owner.
8.Housekeeping: There is no daily housekeeping service. While linens and bath towels are included in the unit, daily maid service is not included in the rental rate. We suggest you bring beach towels. We do not permit towels or linens to be taken from the units.
9.Hot Tub: The hot tub off the deck under the apple tree is available to those renting Elephant Cottage.
Please observe the following rules:
•A Hot Tub is not a bathtub! Shower with soap and warm water before you come in.
•Do not enter Hot Tub with lotions, gel, oils or scents in your hair or on your body. We document the cleanliness, water condition and chemical balance prior to your arrival. If Hot Tub is dirty after you leave you are subject to a drain and clean fee of $139 will be charged against your security deposit.
•Please do not use soaps or oils in Hot Tub.
•Enter and exit the Hot Tub slowly.
•Please, no jumping or diving.
•Do not bring food, drink, glass or other containers near Hot Tub.
•Do not use alcohol, narcotics, or medications.
•Elderly persons must consult doctor before use.
•Pregnant women should consult doctor before use.
•Children under the age of 18 must be supervised by an adult.
•Do not enter, if temperature is over 104.
•Limit your soak to 15 minutes, and cool off before re-entry.
•Anyone with heart disease, diabetes, high or low blood pressure or any serious illness should consult with doctor before entering the Hot Tub.
•Please do not sit, stand or lie down on cover.
•Please turn off high jets after use.
10.The property is on a septic system. The septic system is very effective; however, it will clog up if improper material is flushed. DO NOT FLUSH anything other than toilet paper. No feminine products should be flushed at anytime. If it is found that feminine products or anything other than bodily waste and toilet paper have been flushed and clog the septic system, you could be charged damages of up to $ 1,000.00.
No refunds will be given for storms.
SO glad I choose to rent this cottage. I pulled up and was pleasantly surprised to find that it is ON the bay! I would definitely rent this cottage again– between the hot tub, the view, the close proximity to activities and oysters, and the little kitchen it is the perfect place for a romantic get away for a few days. My favorite part was watching the stars from the hot tub!
We really enjoyed our time at the Cozy Cottage. The photos are somewhat misleading in the fact that none show the wonderful deck that sits out right above the tide. Photo 5 in this listing was the only indication that we'd be right on the bay, and I'm glad we let that make our decision in staying here. That photo is actually taken from the side yard, which we never used. Instead we spent our time sitting on the deck, which has a small kayak launch/dock, and even got to use the small BBQ, despite the weather while we were there. Most importantly, DO NOT rely on the kitchen in the cottage, should you decide to cook meals rather than eating out. As Chuck nonchalantly mentioned upon our arrival, the rains had knocked out power to the electric stove and microwave only. Luckily, we planned on BBQing anyway, but be aware that Marshall is "out there" and power outages apparently aren't uncommon. The internet was also out for the first 24 hours we were there, so (you are on vacation) don't rely on that either.
This really is a studio sized cottage, essentially an in-law off of the main house. From the deck we could high five neighbors on either side. The 2-person hot tub was a wonderful treat, tucked in under a tree with privacy.
All in all, it was a wonderful little getaway and we would stay here again for a visit to the Point Reyes area.
Directions to the cottage were simple to follow and we found our way to the front door and into the apartment very easily and it was very welcoming. Everything we would have wanted was available in this cute cottage. The host was kind enough (thank you!) to offer the cottage to us as a family of 4 (we requested it). I would suggest that it should be limited to 2 in the future due to the sleeping and eating space. Thank you for a lovely stay, this is a very beautiful spot.

I bought Raspberry House in 1989 when my youngest son went off to college. I wanted a serene retreat in a pristine location to focus on my dissertation. Built over beautiful Tomales Bay with Pt. Reyes National Seashore across the way, I couldn't have chosen a better location.
Imagine 100,00 acres of protected wilderness just 1 hour from San Franciso and the Golden Gate Bridge! I landed in paradise and am pleased to share it with you.
