Large beautiful bedroom and bath

House - Private room · Birch Place, Carmel, CA 93923, United States

The Space

Very large studio-type room with bathroom upstairs, so completely private. The room has a private deck, overlooking the back yard. The private bathroom has a shower. The antique bed is full size (double) and is high, so I've provided a little stool for those who need a boost! There is also an easy chair for you to lounge in while watching TV, a charging station for computers/cell phones, and a table and chairs. There is a little mini-kitchenette with a microwave, toaster oven, and refrigerator.

Premium channels (HBO, Showtime, etc) are available in the room as well as a Roku box to access Netflix.

All races, religions, and sexual orientations welcome.

(Note: if you stayed with me before, you were probably in the small room downstairs, but I've switched now to the large upstairs room!)

House is down the street from the Mission and about 1 mile from Carmel's main street--Ocean Avenue. This is a very safe area. I'll provide breakfast, and you can use the kitchen if you like. Crossroads and Barnyard shopping areas are within walking distance with lots of restaurants.

House comes equipped with two dogs (small) and 3 cats, so if you hate animals, this is not the place. I'm a writer, so I work at home.

There is a bus stop within walking distance, and I don't mind picking people up and dropping them off. I'm pretty easy. The AmTrak bus stop in Carmel is about a block and a half from my house.

What makes my place unique?? Well, it's a great place for the price! LOL. I do charge $10 extra for a second guest--so the room is $80 for two people.

Bus stop is about 1 block away. Buses run about every half hour during the daytime.

  • Wanda was an excellent host and even provided me with a hand drawn map to a wonderful Thai restaurant for dinner. Breakfast was excellent and the room was just as advertised. A great first time experience with Airbnb. Thanks Wanda!

  • A wonderful, wonderful stay. The room is beautiful, cosy, well-equipped and the bed is super comfortable. Wanda has been a delightful host, cooks a mean breakfast and gave us lots of useful tips for our trip. Cancel your hotel reservations and go here at once.

  • Wanda is a warm, friendly hostess offering tips about the neighborhood and assisting with questions. Her two dogs Prescot and ( I think her name was Carmilla) are also adorable. I enjoyed having coffee and lunch overlooking her lovely backyard. Also her location is quite handy with easy accessibility to Hwy 1, downtown Carmel, and Point Lobos. I hope to revisit Wanda on my next visit to the Carmel area.

  • Wanda was an outstanding host! In a very short time she made us feel welcome and as if we were visiting an old friend. Her upstairs room, with its private bath, was spacious and quite comfortable. She surprised us with a plate of delicious homemade cookies upon our arrival, and prepared us a healthy breakfast each morning. In addition, she was very willing to share her extensive knowledge of the area parks, restaurants, and sights to see, which was a great help when it came to planning our days!

  • Wanda was an excellent host and her home was absolutely perfect for our stay. We were only in Carmel for one night but found her place to be clean, comfortable and easily accessible. We also thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast and all the additional little touches that Wanda adds to your stay like the cookies in the room and assistance with places to go, maps etc.

We would most definitively stay again, hopefully sometime soon!

  • The most comfortable room and bed I had, the most welcoming host I met, the most delicious breakfast I've ever had! Wanda was so nice to drive me back and forth since I did not drive a car. And for the pets, they are really alive and cute! Wanda's house is absolutely the dreaming place during my trip! Fully recommended! Thanks for everything, Wanda!

  • Wanda was an amazing host. The room was beautiful and the bed was out-of-this-world comfy! Wanda had baked some delicious cookies for us, which we promptly devoured. The room has a private patio looking out over the backyard and a cozy reading corner, as well as a small fridge and some snacks. She is a warm and outgoing person who was quick to give us useful tips before we continued our journey down the coast. We HIGHLY recommend staying with Wanda.

I'm a medical writer--I was formerly a nurse and then a college English teacher/program director, so now I combine the two fields. i like music, reading, traveling, walking along the ocean, grandkids, dogs, cats, and enjoying life. I'm crazy about NYC and the theater. Pretty much my favorite thing in life is not having to set an alarm clock. I volunteer at a free clinic, so I'm madly studying Spanish as many of the clients don't speak English. I'm forcing myself to go the the gym for health and beauty (although it may be too late for the latter) even though I hate every second of exercise. Things I like??--I'd practically kill for my iPad (and not just because I bought Apple stock!) I like interesting people.
