Currently not available as it needed more fixing up than I recalled. .......The Beavertail is a ancient and famous bar in the Passagassawaukeag River in the upper tidal portion of Belfast Maine. (Website hidden by Airbnb) You can see the Beavertail at the left center where it protrudes into the river. This is a small rustic cabin at about 5' above sea level and high tides come close to the edge of the cabin. There is an area for sitting around outside, there is a large area under the trees where you can sit around or move yourself out on the Beavertail in the sun or under the stars and have a campfire. The cabin is located a few steps off the recently complete Belfast Rail Trail for hikers and bikes on the bed of the Belfast Moosehead Lake Railroad. The cabin itself is a low ceiling 10' x 17' shed roof style. No running water. No modern toilet facilities. We provide water for washing and cleaning and a primitive bucket toilet with some privacy. There is a gas stove, a loft style bed, kerosene lights, candles, etc. You park on the other side of the road and it is a short trip across the road, over the guard rail, down 8 steps, cross the trail, down 15 more steps and you are there. Eagles, Osprey, the occasional seal, some fishing, and a tide that comes and goes all day long. You can easily kayak, walk or drive into town. It is really easy to bicycle. This is a very private place. No neighbors except across the wide river. What's ancient? The native Americans used this spot to spear fish by moonlight and that's what the river is named.
CURRENTLY the Beavertail is being renovated and cleaned up for guests. It is currently not available.
