Our private path leads straight down to the water.

The space

Private home in gated community "Caramar" on the Pacific ocean. Spacious 2-story house with 3rd story look-out tower, 3 bedrooms each with a full bathroom. Large view windows, tiled throughout, tiled wrap-around patio and pool area, also with ocean view. Peaceful, last house along the beach in Playa Negra. Fishing, surfing and sunsets in your own backyard.
-Details: 2 bedrooms upstairs, one with king bed and A/C, one with queen bed and A/C, and one ground floor bedroom with 2 single beds. Each bedroom has it's own full bath (toilet/sink/shower). There is an additional shower outside by the pool area, and 1 additional single bed upstairs, The house is well ventilated and the winds are cool by the beach so we never use the A/C. It feels safe with the gate and guard house at the entry of the community. A popular surfing area, hotel and restaurant is a short walk or bike ride north. There are a few grocery stores and eating places in the town of los Pargos, a 15 minute walk.
-Charms: We spend most of our time lying in hammocks reading books or bicycle riding. It's beautiful and peaceful here, there are monkey families in the trees, iguanas and hermit crabs scurry across the yard, It's the last house along the beach so few people or cars ever pass by. The house was built 50 meters from the water which is the closest possible according to Costa Rican law. *If you want crowds, traffic & fast-food - Tamarindo is 1/2 hour north. If you want a place sanitized with bleach, disinfectants & perfumes - stay at a hotel.

Relaxation required! Enjoy the housewares: beach towels, books, cocktail glasses, curios etc. If you accidentally leave items on the beach the high tide will come and steal them. Please replace any lost or broken housewares.
One of the joys is preparing food, delicious local fruits & vegetables & fresh fish. Please keep a tidy kitchen - otherwise unwanted critters will appear. (it happens quickly in the tropics)
A housekeeper comes once a week (usually Monday) for 1/2 day for basic floor/bathroom/& kitchen cleaning (NOT your laundry). You may try arrange with her independently any additional cleaning work - she will quote you a reasonable price. It is OK to tip her.
There is a 2-week minimum stay during the holidays (Dec.17-Jan 6) The housekeeper takes the end of Dec. off for Xmas - sorry, no cleaning during that time period.

Safety features
First aid kit
7 nights minimum stay.
From Dec 18, 2017 - Jan 08, 2018 the minimum stay is 14 nights.

Just what we were looking for in a relaxing surf vacation. The house was absolute paradise, right on the beach. Large home that met all of our needs (kitchen, bedrooms, laundry stocked). The caretaker Joff absolutely made our trip. He was there to show us the home and always there to answer any questions. Cannot wait to go back to paradise!

Spring Break 2017 ~ with two surfers and a beautiful ocean out our back door who could ask for anything better. The house was set up for a great easy spirit stay!

Casa Verde is a special place - we all absolutely loved Playa Negra and our stay at Casa Verde suited the whole vibe perfectly. It is in a great location close to Hotel Playa Negra, great surf, and good eats. Our group arrived very late at night and Joff was there to greet us at the gate - he was very friendly and helpful. Prior to arriving, be sure to contact Roxanna for any details in getting to the place, but utilize Joff during your stay for local knowledge.

Roxanna's Casa Verde is a dream come true! We loved it and the location was perfect. Joff, the caretaker, was extremely helpful! He was waiting for us when we first arrived, made sure that we felt welcomed and had everything that we needed. He was always available to us when we had questions through out our stay and helped provide whatever he could. The house is in a great location. It was a few strides from the beach but also felt private. Playa Negra is pretty small, but there are plenty of places to eat and some fun things to do.

This house is in an amazing location in a quiet, secluded neighborhood. The beach below the house is beautiful. The house itself is cavernous, but very oddly appointed and unfortunately not well maintained. There are these huge spaces with hardly any furniture, and one thing that did get old after a week was the lack of any comfortable furniture in the whole house. The kitchen and cookware is so dated as to not be particularly useable -- the stove will eventually get hot but it takes forever. Also, there is a mold issue that needs to be addressed. Overall, we enjoyed our week here because we spent most of the time surfing nearby, and killing time around the pool (the only place in the house with some semi-comfortable chairs). If you're looking for a place to spend a lot of time and kickback, this place probably isn't it even though it's in a perfect spot.

Response from Roxanna:
Welcome to the tropics: Dustin's group accepted a deeply discounted price because they were arriving in the season of the heaviest rain in Costa Rica, (it IS a rain forest). The only places that do not develop mold during October are sealed from fresh air and bleached (like hotels). I would suggest a hotel for this group in the future if they are looking for puffy indoor furniture (which attracts mold). Every year, after the rainy season, we replace kitchen ware. The salty ocean air cause things to wear out and erode much faster than under normal circumstances. We find the charms of the tropics outweigh it's minor inconveniences.

Roxanna's house was just perfect! You can't get a better location or house. If you are looking for a private get away, then this is the place. Everything is just as described. The house is beautiful and the beach is right there. We can't wait to come back!
