About This Listing
Our 1885 home will take you back in time, as family and friends explore its charming interior and wooded grounds. Enjoy nearby attractions, relax at night with a campfire, or have dinner in Brevard and attend a Music Center event.
This was the first house built in the Cedar Mountain area expressly for a summer home. It is situated on 30 wooded acres with streams and trails and is perfect for those attending Pretty Place weddings or for people who enjoy hiking, cycling, or just chilling with serene surroundings. Close by are Jones Gap and Caesar's Head State Parks in SC as well as Pretty Place Chapel at Camp Greenville. Brevard, NC ( The Land of Waterfalls), with its music center and outstanding restaurants, is a 30-minute drive, while DuPont State Forest is even closer!
You will have access to fireplaces, fire pit, carport parking and use of our walking trails.
Interaction with Guests
While you are here, we won't be, but family members live year-round on the adjacent property, and we will be in contact by phone as necessary.
I love that it isn't a neighborhood! It is an old house on acres of land and not another house in sight.
Convenient to major highway and nearby tourist destinations accessed by car or bicycle. Asheville, NC or Greenville, SC airport transportation can be arranged.

Our group had a wonderful time this past 4 day weekend. Loved the rustic home along with the history behind it. We felt at home and had a wonderful time putting aside our electronics and interacting with friends. It was very relaxing.
Perfect spot to stay to go mountain biking at Dupont. Literally 5 minutes away. Close enough to Brevard to enjoy the town, far enough away to feel secluded. There was every old fashioned kitchen utensil you could think of there to utilize and plenty of serving ware to lay out food potluck style. Bathrooms were cleaned and well stocked. A washer and dryer was also available and came in handy after getting dirty playing outdoors. We utilized the fireplace inside and outside. It was nice to have so many options and for the cold days to stay inside by the fire. O.P., the lab, made his rounds to befriend us.
I was nervous at first I wouldn't find it as I was the first to find the place at night, but the directions Missie gave were spot on. If I would have missed it, there was a sign as well as the border to correct me. The lights were on too, which was very nice to have arrived to at night by myself as a female.
Thank you for offering this place. Every other place in Brevard started at at least $90 per night for one couple and $150 split 4 ways per night helped all 4 couples be able to afford a great weekend out here. We hope to come back soon. :)
The Plotts and their party would be welcome back here anytime. Even though it was a large group, the house was left maybe even nicer than they found it. As I am the host/maid/garbage person/cleanup crew, I appreciated that they followed my check-out instructions precisely, so that even their garbage and recycling were organized. Their treatment of our beloved home was a testimony to the character of the soldiers that they are; I thank them for serving our country and for being good guests. I should also add that they were good sports because our AT&T telephone service had been out for more than a week, including part of the time they were here.

About the Host, Missie
Retired middle school teacher, wife, mother to 1 daughter who lives in Brevard, grandmother, mama to 2 dogs and 4 hens. Interested in family, volunteering, gardening, animals, reading, board games. Husband also on premises and big into travel, tennis, golf, and hiking. The house isn't insulated and water must be shut down in winter months, so we make this our home from May to October, and it is what we look forward to all year. We live the rest of the year 130 miles away in the midlands of SC. We will be helpful hosts or leave you alone if you prefer, but be prepared to be charmed by our old place and its history.
