Charming private duplex space within my home, consisting of 2 Bedrooms (each with queen bed), 1 1/2 bath, living room and kitchen. Private entrance, wide-board floors, fully furnished. Entry level has living room (please note the fireplace is not available to guests due to liability), kitchen, 1/2 bath and one bedroom; second floor has one bedroom and a full bathroom). The bedrooms have air conditioning.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE $165 RATE is for the use of one bedroom in the duplex space (generally two people in one bedroom) and of course the rest of the duplex space. If the second bedroom is to be used, the nightly rate is $225 per night (reflected in the extra person rate of $30 per night). If you have any questions about this don't hesitate to ask.)
Communal space includes pool, decks, and garden area overlooking the Hudson River. Wifi and cable TV. Seasonal views of the Hudson River.
Malden-on-Hudson is a peaceful, sweet hamlet 100 miles north of NYC, along the Hudson River. There is a public dock and boat launch within walking distance of the house.(Bring your kayaks!) The morning sun on the river and the moon glow at night is quite special. The nearest village is Saugerties (1.3 miles), a typical Hudson Valley village with good restaurants, shops, book stores, a farmers market, movie theatre, etc. We are near the Saugerties lighthouse - it's an easy hike out to the lighthouse - a perfect spot for a picnic on a hot summer day. Sailing - I advise booking in advance of your stay (Tivoli Sailing is in Saugerties; Hudson Sailing and Ophira Sailing are out of Kingston).
Woodstock (9 miles), Rhinebeck, Hudson, Tivoli, Bard College Fischer Center/Summerscape, and Olana are all within easy driving distance. Also close to many areas of natural beauty including Kaaterskill Falls, Hunter Mountain, Mohonk Mountain House, and an abundance of hiking trails.
Just minutes to HITS on the Hudson - an olympic level horse jumping venue which runs 6 weeks in the summer.
**** The pool is generally open by Memorial Day however it is not a heated pool so swimming is weather-dependent and out of my control.
A cleaning fee and deposit will be added for weekly or longer rentals. Sorry, no pets and no small children - there are simply too many steps in and around the property. Please note that there is a cat in the main part of the house but she does not go into the separate duplex space.
Guests have access to the common space in the back garden, the pool, the decks, the outside table under the pergola for al fresco dining, and the lounge chairs and hammock in the back garden overlooking the Hudson River.
Interaction with Guests
I love meeting our guests and enjoy interacting and assisting them. If it is privacy they desire, however, that's fine too.
There is no public transportation.
You may park along the side of the house on the road or at the bottom of the driveway.
Please read the instruction booklet when you arrive. Please treat my home as you would your own and enjoy your time in this beautiful part of New York State.
Gilda was incredibly welcoming! The house is lovely, warm and fully equipped for a fun vacation with friends. The view from the back yard is breathtaking, sitting outside by the fire enjoying the river was one of our peak moments. Gilda went out of her way to make sure we have a pleasant stay.
A beautiful location in a quiet neighbourhood overlooking the Hudson River with more than ample space, a nice gas fireplace, cozy furniture, great water pressure and temperature and a full kitchen. Easy road access to the Thruway (a few miles) and State Highway 9 series with some local hiking options (on the River and a Nature Preserve). The view over the river is quite stunning with a great sitting area outside. The area is very quiet, residential and fairly close to the main village area and a good grocery store and a bunch of bookstores. The space contains 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms including a set on the ground floor and a set on the 2nd floor upstairs. Part of the house is built in 1820 and that old charm is found within the space (large fireplace, great wood floors, rich interior decor and colour. Gilda was very helpful and responsive - richly shared the area information and was very easy and efficient to book with and transact with - a delightful host.
I would easily stay there again in any season of the year.
Gilda's home was perfect for a quick, last minute weekend getaway! Beautiful snowy views of the river, lots of privacy, and the house was more than enough room for the three of us. Not to mention the fireplace was an amazing plus to come home to after a day of cross country skiing. Will definitely be my go-to spot the next time I visit the Catskills!
We had a wonderful time at Gilda's home, it was so charming and filled with so much love and many interesting books to read . Her record collection is beyond awesome and the fireplace made feel even more like home for the holidays! Wish I could have stayed longer, but I will return for summer to check out pool!
Gilda's home was absolutely wonderful. What a dream! The living room with fireplace (remote control) was possibly the most cozy room that I've every been in.....big comfortable leather sofas.....antiques.....books.....record player (with amazing collection). There are windows that have views of the Hudson river. Very quiet and relaxing neighborhood. 5 minute drive to little shops, cafes and restaurants. Gilda went out of her way a number of times to check on my stay to make sure everything with ok. She was very hospitable and thoughtful. I'm looking forward to returning sometime! I was very thankful for my time at Bella Vista - Eric
Had another great weekend at Gilda's house. We love the atmosphere and could spend a whole weekend in the cozy living room with that fireplace.
Gilda was a wonderful and accommodating host. We stayed in a private part of her house and we were completely charmed by it. The pictures actually don't do it justice - the place is beautifully decorated and really cozy. We loved sitting by the fire and listening to Gilda's extensive record collection. In addition, the location is absolutely fantastic and the views of the Hudson cannot be beat.
Gilda made sure to welcome us when we arrived and provided plenty of excellent suggestions for things to do and places to visit. We even had a bottle of wine waiting for our arrival. We really enjoyed getting to know Gilda (she invited us to her place for drinks). We will definitely be looking forward to returning to this wonderful and relaxing retreat.
I am an attorney and mother of two fantastic young men. We have traveled world-wide, and lived overseas, but now call the beautiful Hudson Valley our home.
