Guest Access

Centrally located to numerous day trip destinations. We are about 6 miles north of the Appalachian Trail crossing on Hwy 60 and about 6 miles south of the Swinging Bridge on the Toccoa River. A popular destination for day-hikers, Benton MacKaye Trail through hikers, and paddlers making the journey down the Toccoa River Canoe Trail is the swinging bridge over the Toccoa River. This 270 foot long bridge is the longest swinging bridge east of the Mississippi River.
The Swinging Bridge over the Toccoa River is located on the Benton MacKaye Trail and the Duncan Ridge National Recreation Trail in Fannin County. It was built by the USDA Forest Service in cooperation with the Appalachian Trail Club in 1977, when extension of the Blue Ridge Parkway to Kennesaw Mountain was under consideration.

  • We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at the Lodge. We came to N GA from Atlanta to get away and enjoy some of the wineries. The Lodge could not have been a more perfect place for us to stay. It's charming and has cozy mountain home character. We loved the antique stoves and the renovated bathroom. For $100 a night, it's a steal! I would highly recommend staying here. Donald, the owner was extremely accommodating and helpful throughout the entire process. We hope to visit again soon.

  • The lodge does not look like on pictures, maybe except for the bathroom. It lacks most of the furnishing shown on the pictures and it has a fire damage that has not been fixed. The kitchen is not equipped at all, not sure if it even has a working stove. We stayed there for only one night and I would definitely not recommend this place. It is not really clean either.
The campground itself is nice and relaxing, great if you are traveling with your pets.

    Response from Donald:

I do not understand this review at all! There are 3 antique stoves in the kitchen. The wood burning stove works like a charm as does the antique electric stove. I offered to show the guests how to work both of them upon their "late" arrival on Saturday night. They said that they did not plan on cooking. Instead they were going to dine at the diner on the property. (The 3rd antique propane stove does not work which I pointed out as well). The kitchen is/was well furnished with pots, pans, cups, utensils, coffee maker, toaster, microwave, refrigerator which were ALL definitely clean in in excellent working order. I did point out some "minor" fire damage around the fireplace. The guests commented that it only added to the charm of the lovely place. Finally the place is very clean. I have had numerous guests to stay at the Lodge and all say they cannot wait to return. I wish I could understand the motive behind such a terrible review. Donald Oakes, Owner
