The Lodge is an old renovated farm house built in 1890. It is available on a nightly rental basis with a well equipped kitchen having an antique electric stove as well as an old operational wood burning cook stove. Refrigerator, microwave and coffee pot are also present.

The space

Step back in time to a more relaxed era. Please keep in mind BEFORE booking that the structure was built in 1890 making it 125 years old. It IS NOT the Marriott! Instead it is a unique clean lodging experience that I am proud to offer. The vast majority of our guests LOVE the place and give us very high marks. A few disappointed guests don't like it at all and consequently give us low marks. If you want to stay in something comparable to the Marriott, then please do us all a favor and don't book with us.
The Lodge will accommodate several people in a home place style, decorated with Grandma's memories. When booking a stay at The Lodge please be aware that there is NO central heat. A wood burning heater is located in the downstairs bedroom along with baseboard heating. Electric space heaters are located throughout. Gas logs are installed in the fireplace. A wall mounted propane heater is installed as well.

On the outside you will be surrounded with breathtaking mountain views while sipping your favorite beverage on the spacious deck. Enjoy a fire in the cool evenings in the large fire ring area. A recent guest summed the Lodge up by saying "Mountain charm and antique touches!".

The serenity and breath taking views abound. You can leave your troubles behind and enjoy nature as it was intended.

It should be noted that not all cell carriers work in this area. Verizon DOES work very well whereas Sprint DOES NOT work at all. Unsure about other carriers.
The best trout fishing in Georgia exists within 6 miles of The Lodge including Coopers Creek, Rock Creek, & the Toccoa River.

Joni’s place was absolutely beautiful, especially the drive up with all of the leaves changing colors. On top of the obvious charm and incredible location, her place was clean, accurate, and more than what we expected! Can’t wait to come back :-)

The best thing about the Old Gilreath Farmhouse is the people. I arrived the day before Hurricane Irma hit and met Joni (the Airbnb host). She came by to check on a few things and to deliver extra supplies. She told me that we would probably lose power and that I should feel free to reach out at any time for any reason. She was kind and I was impressed that she drove over to the house to check on me before the storm hit. The next day, the campground owner, came by to check on the house and on the campground. He’s a delightful gentleman and takes pride in what he has accomplished here. He showed me around the property a bit and showed me before pictures of the newly-renovated Mary’s Cabin. It’s amazing what they did with the place in only 9 months! The entire campground is beautifully landscaped with flowers and plants that you might find mentioned in old poems, home and garden magazines, and the Bible. Roses, day lilies, and hyssop, which the owner planted himself, dot the landscape around the unassuming cabins. As soon as I stepped inside the farmhouse, I felt at home. This home has everything you need and nothing you don’t. It is quiet, clean, and uncluttered; perfect for someone who wants to retreat and enjoy solitude and nature. The main living area is cuddled around the old stone fireplace with a wooden mantle dating the build of the home as 1890. The fireplace has been renovated with gas logs that make lighting much easier than starting a wood fire. Between the open concept living and dining area is a beautiful knotty pine bar, which is sure to catch the eye of woodworkers and nature lovers alike. In the dining area sits an old farmhouse style dining table backlit by two stained-glass window panes that glow yellow in the morning sun. The kitchen reminds residents of the true age of the home with its three antique stoves. The well-built white stove works perfectly fine and teaches patience to those of us who are used to peeking into glasspaned oven doors to check on dinner’s progress. While waiting for dinner, your best option is to pour a glass of wine and dance in the living room to one of the old records lying by the Jensen. When dinner is done and it’s time to sleep, there is a warm, cozy bed in the main bedroom downstairs waiting for you to lie your head. On a cool night, the baseboard heat works perfectly fine to keep chill bumps away. When you wake up in the morning, you’ll open the blinds and peek out the door to the outside bathtub. As if this house didn’t have enough charm on its own, it comes with humor too. The idea of stretching out in warm sudsy water in the tiny framed bathhouse while listening to the front-porch wind chime and then tip toeing back inside pruney and...

We had an awesome stay in Suches, GA. Beautiful area to walk around and the lodge has so many awesome, unique touches. A couple of notes: 1) obviously it was silly of us to plan to stream anything while in the middle of North GA in a cabin built in the 1800s (GoT season finale), but just know that the wifi is not strong enough to do more than basic functions. 2) check on the Wildcat's restaurant's hours before planning to eat there. We didn't realize that it closed at 4pm Sunday and had planned to eat there, then realizing the closest alternative was 25-30 min away. Again, I feel like this is something to be expected when booking in a secluded area, but thought it may be helpful for others to know.
