The Space

Our home is located in scenic Southern Indiana close to Louisville Ky and all the city has to offer. We are also located along the Uplands Wine Trail located in the Indiana Uplands AVA, one of the newest AVA's in America.
Many people visit Southern Indiana for the state and national forests, as well as some interesting state parks.
There are two guest bedrooms and one full bathroom on the second floor of our country home that will accommodate up to six with one queen bed and one twin bed in each room. One of the queens is a sleep sofa with a special sleep sofa board and premium mattress topper for comfort. One of the rooms is a bit tight for 3, but entirely doable. The other room is more spacious
If you need to park or power an RV, that is something we can talk about, we have the space.

We are 20 minutes from downtown Louisville and 30 minutes from Churchill Downs via I-64.

Our house was built in 1928 and many find it very quaint and nostalgic.
The bathroom is large with an old fashioned tub, as well as a shower. The toilet is partly enclosed for privacy.

We a have a covered porch with a swing and plenty of outdoor space to enjoy while you are here. You can even relax and fish in the pond, if you like.
My husband and I are the only ones living here and will be here throughout your stay.

The 50.00 price is for one room based on double occupancy. Be aware that if you won't be booking the two rooms that there may be another party occupying the other.

Guest Access

There is plenty of space to park. We have wireless internet access. Breakfast is provided and will be simple during the week, but I will be cooking on the weekends. There is an open space downstairs you can use for gathering and such, there is a table and chairs and you are welcome to bring take out food back .

Interaction with Guests

We are here to help advise you on the area as much as we can and to make you stay as interesting as you would like.

The Neighborhood

The neighborhood is away for cities and towns so is quiet. You will usually only hear cows lowing, frogs croaking, crickets and the wind. We are surrounded on one side by farmland and the other by a small (11 home) subdivision. While the northern and eastern skies are a bit bright the western and southern skies are nice for star gazing.

Getting around

Unfortunately there is no public transportation from our place. If you are here for the Kentucky Derby there are usually some shuttle services from downtown to the track. We are an easy drive from the airport, it usually takes about 25 minutes.

Other Things to Note

We have a dog, but she is not allowed upstairs where the guest rooms are.

Check In
  • Christine and her husband were gracious hosts. Their home was so peaceful, warm and inviting. We had a great time checking out the barn and the garden and taking in the wonderful landscape. Breakfast was amazing as we got to taste some home made jam that Christine made and had eggs from the chickens they have on the farm. The room was clean, comfortable and the beds also were great. What a nice place to stop if you want to check out Louisville, New Albany, or other things to do in the area.

  • What a wonderful experience. The home was warm and comfortable. The environment was eclectic and peaceful. We slept soundly and enjoyed the company of our host and her wonderful breakfasts. Close enough to Louisville to get to just about anything quickly but a calm place to return to and rest. We will seek this location out if we return to the area.

  • We had a very pleasant two days stay at Christine's during the Kentucky Derby.
The house is located in a beautiful part of the countryside, 20 minutes from Louisville. I went running in the morning in the surrounding nature, and Rick, Christine's husband, showed us around on the farm the last day. The room was clean, comfortable and quiet and breakfast was tasty with good conversation.
Would definitely recommend, thanks again Christine, Tom&Anouk.

  • It was absolutely a very nice stay at Christine's place. She and her husband were really friendly to us. The house is about 20 minutes' drive from Louisville. The neighborhood is very quiet and beautiful. The room is clean and cozy. I arrived in the evening and Christine made some really fresh and delicious salad for me. She also prepared breakfast for us in the morning. We had some great conversations. She really made us feel at home.
I will definitely stay with their family again next time I go to Louisville.

I am married with four grown children. I work part-time at a local winery and have an organic market garden in the backyard. We have been in our home for 19 years. Since the children have moved on I have repurposed and refurbished the upstairs bedrooms. We now have a sewing room and 2 guest rooms. Our whole family likes the outdoors. I make quilts, love music and reading.
