Bid farewell to 2020 in coziness & style! Our huge guest suite occupies the whole 3rd floor of our Fishtown home and is steps to the best dining in the area (with FREE GATED PARKING right outside the back door). We’re longtime hosts who are serious about keeping our home clean. Huge sunny bedroom, luxury Nectar Queen bed, large bathroom with great water pressure and awesome toiletries, separate sitting room with huge TV, coffee, mini fridge, and giant balcony. Looking forward to your visit!

The space
When a more luxurious AirBnb experience is your goal...

★ A whole-floor oasis atop our large and sunny row home, Hero's Castle is nearly 800 square feet across three rooms (the whole 3rd floor), warmly and comfortably furnished. A bright and airy bedroom, with a queen-sized Nectar deluxe memory foam mattress, 400+ thread count 100% cotton sheets, and large, fluffy 100% cotton towels; a large private bathroom (great water pressure & toiletries!); a private sitting room with a couch, an armchair, a huge 4K HD TV, coffee & tea bar, a table for working or sharing meals, and a small book collection; and a west-facing balcony the width of the house with comfortable outdoors chairs and a table. The bedroom door locks with a key.

★ Hero's Castle gives you a fully private 3rd floor, including bedroom, living-room, balcony and bathroom - all the convenience and space of a small house, for less than the cost of a hotel room in Center City! Our thoughtful hosting style and responsive communications cannot be beat. ---

Your space, and the rest of the house, includes:

➼ blond hardwood floors + high ceilings
➼ high quality furniture, linens, and amenities
➼ tropical and traditional houseplants
➼ and unusual details from around the world.

Gated parking behind the house is FREE with your booking (street parking is tough in such a popular neighborhood, and paid parking costs $20-$40/night). Considerate use of the kitchen is welcome. Check in from 3pm-11pm, and just let us know the day before if you'd like to drop off/leave bags in the living room before or after check in/out! You can park from 1pm before check-in until 1pm after check out.

In your suite will be

➼ bottles of water, and a selection of coffees and teas
➼ luxury linens
➼ a welcome binder with information about the house & our neighborhood
➼ menus and brochures from great local restaurants, museums and attractions
➼ and thoughtfully selected toiletries
(we always aim to have eco-conscious and chem-free options + other fun stuff!)

★ Philadelphia is the City of Brotherly Love, and since its Quaker days has been known for tolerance and inclusion. In that spirit, our commitment to hosting free of discrimination is absolute, so feel welcome. ★

Guest access
★This entire guest suite can be locked for privacy but does not have a private entrance to the street.

In addition to the third floor private guest suite, guests are welcome to use

➼ the kitchen
➼ ground floor living and dining rooms
➼ ground floor powder room (half bathroom)
➼ and back yard

You will enter The second floor includes other guest rooms, both private areas.

You'll find books, magazines, games and puzzles in the living room - you're welcome to hang out and enjoy them there, or take them to your room!

★ NOTE FOR AUTUMN: You can easily take the Trolley along Girard Avenue to visit the Eastern State Penitentiary, one of Philadelphia's creepiest attractions (and one of the East Coast's best Haunted Houses during the fall months)! Tickets recommended in advance for weekend nights in October.

Other things to note
➼ We make great recommendations - if you're not sure what museum, restaurant or activity you'll like, just ask! We also include a binder of local dining & activities in the rooms.

➼ If Hero's Castle is already booked for your dates, you can click on our profile picture to see our other listings - we have several rooms, with private or shared bathrooms, that sleep between 1 and 6 guests, one of which is nearly identical to Hero's Castle and also includes free gated parking (Castle Hideaway)!

➼ NOTE FOR AUTUMN: Eastern State Penitentiary is a Gothic prison turned attraction that has tours (Al Capone stayed there!) and a haunted house in the fall. Get tickets ahead of time for the haunted house, and it's 10-15 minutes by uber/lyft, 20-25 minutes by trolley along Girard Ave, or a 45 minute walk down 2nd Street and west on Fairmount Ave (fun stuff on 2nd Street too, if you want to leave extra time for stops).

Safe. Diverse. Friendly. Fun! Highly convenient location for local food & entertainment, plus we're just steps to the Girard MFL stop and trolley lines. Really convenient to Old City, with the experience of a real neighborhood! Several great music venues are nearby (Kung Fu Necktie and Johnny Brenda's are right around the corner, and the Fillmore is a 5-10 minute walk), as well as shops like Jinxed Antiques, yoga studios and La Colombe.

BARS & RESTAURANTS (within 5 minutes walk):
★ Front Street Cafe for everything from breakfast, vegan, meat-based, GF, DF and general foodie fare (our favorite spot nearby) - great BRUNCH all week! - get the buffalo cauliflower any time, it's fantastic
★ Joe's Steaks for some of the best cheese steak sandwiches (open late; we recommend them with cheese whiz, peppers, onions and a peanut butter-vanilla milkshake)
★ Weckerly's for the city's best ice cream
★ Streetside for great, inexpensive Vietnamese **closed for corona
★ Kostas for great Greek and cheap drinks (kitchen open late) **closed for corona
★ Good Spoon for local-ingredient soups + lunch fare (veg/an, DF & GF options)
★ Snap Kitchen for healthy pre-made meals **closed for corona
★ Acme grocery store and liquor store (in Pennsylvania, wine & liquor are sold at the liquor store, beer & wine in the grocery store)
★ Wide selection of craft beers available in the neighborhood (Bottle Bar East for carry out craft beers)
★ Barcade (vintage arcade games and good beer)
★ Frankford Hall (beer garden + seasonal outdoor games)

We love traveling, understanding how things work (we work in manufacturing), and helping other travelers have a great AirBnb experience! Our hospitality consulting company, Howard Street Consulting, helps hosts succeed on AirBnb by teaching them what gives guests a fantastic experience! Our manufacturing & logistics consulting company, Fremont Lancaster, offers China & Mexico supply chain solutions to Amazon and e-commerce sellers. We're big fans of history, philosophy, theater, yoga and Star Trek. Since we used to live in NYC, we now appreciate large, airy, uncluttered rooms, so that's what you'll get when you're our guest! We love meeting new people, so AirBnB is great for us. We also love plants - we'll tell you all about our plants, but only if you're interested. :) We speak some German, Mandarin, Spanish and a little French.
