Ideal base for climbing, skiing, touring, hiking walking holidays, paragliding. Close to all ski areas of the Chamonix valley - Les Houches, Brevent, Flegere, Grand Montets, le Tour. In the summer the cabin is at the foot of the walking path to Cascade d'Ard, Glacier de Bossons, and the tracks to plan d'Aiguille and Montenvers.
The mazot has a sofa area and dining table on the ground floor, plus clothes storage and on the mezzanine a double bed area (*****please note: it is accessed by a ceiling opening from the storage cubes you can see in the photo, it is not a staircase - please enquire further if it is a concern).
The kitchen area is well equipped with a full sized oven and fridge, and 4 electric hob rings. There is a modern shower room with washing machine and the mazot has TV, UK Freeview and internet. There is a large storage space for equipment and the outside space is a large 45sq metre deck plus a grass area and the surrounding woodland with brook and spectacular views.
The stand alone cabin is set in a small enclave of other mazots, but is tranquil and unhindered by the hustle and hassle of the town centre.
There is private parking for two cars.
The whole space is yours exclusively. There is a storage area in the outdoor locked cupboard for skis and equipment.
Do I need a car to get to town/ski lifts? A car (with snow chains or tyres) is essential in winter but in summer there are easy access walking tracks to town (10mins walk to nearest supermarket). We have a bike for you to use in the fair weather months.
The mazot is situated up a small hill that in winter is a challenge to cars without chains or cars without snow tyres/4x4 rear wheel drives. If you are concerned about driving up the lane, then you can leave your car in the parking area at the entrance to Clos de l'Ours and walk up (2 minutes) and as the Clos entrance is right off the well-cleared main Chamonix access road. But please be prepared (don't arrive in high heels with wheelie suitcases and a Twingo). If you are fully equipped then you drive right up to the door. Check with your car hire company that you have the correct snow chains that are the law in the mountains (some hire companies are a little slack).
Interaction with Guests
I am living between hemispheres (Australasia and Europe) at the moment so may not get to meet you in person. I am always however on the end of the phone (I have a UK mobile you can call/leave a message on) and, give or take time differences will endeavour to call you back as soon as possible. Email works just as well but in any case Gemma Clarke is your contact on the ground and resident in Chamonix. She looks after the mazot for me and is your star in situ there to take care of you during your stay. Once you have booked I put you both in contact directly to liaise over th detail of your stay, arrival times etc.
There is public transport from the centre of Chamonix and Cham Sud (10 mins walk) to the lifts. In the winter this walk is not so easy through the snow unless you are super keen and like a good warm up! To maximise your enjoyment of Chamonix valley and as is the same for most accommodation in town, you will find that a car is easiest to get around. Chamonix is not a ski-in ski-out resort and the different domains are scattered along the lengthy valley.
Treat the cabin with the care you would your own home. Tell us of any problems or gripes from the start so we can remedy them and help you have a great stay. No smoking inside, please - the mazot is little and made of wood! Be mindful of our neighbours - we exist in a pretty unique mountain community and our 'village' is quite special and chilled. Respect that please.
