- cosy independent 'mazot' close to the centre with private terrace and outside space.
A woodland retreat in the heart of Chamonix
Traditional Alpine mazot newly refurbished in contemporary style. Wi-fi, tv, washing machine, private parking, amazing views, huge terrace, tres tranquil woodland setting but central Chamonix. Close to A40, 50mins Geneva, 20 mins Courmayeur, Italy.
The mazot sleeps 2 comfortably (+baby/child - travel cot available). No more than 2 adults permitted. We accept pets (strictly summer only/small pet) on application.
Ideal base for climbing, skiing, touring, hiking walking holidays, paragliding. Close to all ski areas of the Chamonix valley - Les Houches, Brevent, Flegere, Grand Montets, le Tour. In the summer the cabin is at the foot of the walking path to Cascade d'Ard, Glacier de Bossons, and the tracks to plan d'Aiguille and Montenvers.
The mazot has a sofa area and dining table on the ground floor, plus clothes storage and on the mezzanine a double bed area (*****please note: it is accessed by a ceiling opening from the storage cubes you can see in the photo, it is not a staircase - please enquire further if it is a concern).
The kitchen area is well equipped with a full sized oven and fridge, and 4 electric hob rings. There is a modern shower room with washing machine and the mazot has TV, UK Freeview and internet. There is a large storage space for equipment and the outside space is a large 45sq metre deck plus a grass area and the surrounding woodland with brook and spectacular views.
The stand alone cabin is set in a small enclave of other mazots, but is tranquil and unhindered by the hustle and hassle of the town centre.
There is private parking for two cars.
The whole space is yours exclusively. There is a storage area in the outdoor locked cupboard for skis and equipment.
Do I need a car to get to town/ski lifts? A car (with snow chains) is essential in winter but in summer there are easy access walking tracks to town (10mins walk to nearest supermarket). The mazot is situated up a small hill that in winter is a challenge to cars without chains or cars without snow tyres/4x4 rear wheel drives. You can leave your car in the parking area at the entrance to Clos de l'Ours and walk up (2 minutes) and as the entrance is right of the well cleared main Chamonix route then that options is not a huge problem. But please be prepared (don't arrive in high heels with wheelie suitcases and a Twingo). If you are fully equipped then you drive right up to the door. Check with your car hire company that you have the correct snow chains that are the law in the mountains (some hire companies are a little slack).
There is public transport from the centre of Chamonix and Cham Sud (10 mins walk) to the lifts. In the winter this walk is not so easy through the snow unless you are super keen and like a good warm up! To maximise your enjoyment of Chamonix valley and at most accommodation you will find that a car is easiest to get around. Chamonix is not a ski in ski out resort and the different domains are scattered along the lengthy valley.
Treat the cabin with the care you would your own home. Tell us of any problems or gripes from the start so we can remedy them and help you have a great stay. No smoking inside, please - the mazot is little and made of wood! Be mindful of our neighbours - we exist in a pretty unique mountain community and our 'village' is quite special and chilled. Respect that please.
We had a wonderful stay in the cabin. We were looked after and got prompt attention when needed. Highly recommend!
We had a great weekend in the mazot. The house itself is cozy (and warm in the fall/winter!), and the location is just perfect, within walking distance of the center of Chamonix but in the middle of a forest, with a few awesome walking trails leaving just off the back of the mazot. Sandie is a very accommodating owner that will answer all your doubts before arrival and Gemma is available by phone during your stay for any further questions or needs.
Stay here, you won't regret it :)
The Cabin was a really nice place to enjoy the holiday. It is everything there what is needed and the communication with Sandie was very quick and good. If you want to have a relaxing stay a little bit outside of Chamonix this place is highly recommended. Also it is a little bit outside it is just a short work into the city. The good thing is you don´t have to walk along roads, there is a hiking path leading you towards the city. We had a great stay!
The mazot was wonderful. It was very comfortable, cozy, and I made use of the table on the deck to get some work done during the day. It's about a 20 minute walk to center Chamonix, which was a pleasant walk in nature... there are some hikes that you can get to by walking across the road and following the path past the parking spots... and before you know it, you're looking at a glacier.
Loved this place.
Perfect, compact little cabin in a quiet, wooded area just outside of town. Nice bathroom, great kitchen, excellent sheets on the bed. Sandie and Gemma were very helpful and always quick to respond to emails.
About getting up to the sleeping loft: I'm six foot and moderately flexible. If you're much taller than me, or not very flexible, it might be a little tricky climbing up there every night.
