An amazingly wild experience! The villa and grounds are fantastic as are the birds and monkeys crossing the property daily. It felt like the honeymoon we never had and what a location to celebrate 25 years of marriage! The staff took such good care of the villa and our needs. They were fantastic. You are in the wild yet so close to the nearest town. Even the bumpy dirt road was easy to navigate with a truck. Crazy good home if you are wanting privacy and jungle luxury! Two thumbs up!!!

Beautiful home and landscape. Perfect location, felt secluded but still just a quick drive to Puerto Jimenez. We loved the open design and sharing the space with lots of wildlife was awesome. Beach was gorgeous as well and we had it to ourselves! Grace, Monica, and Walter were all super helpful and accommodating, even helped us set up a guide last minute in order to hike in Corcovado. Thanks for everything. Would definitely recommend!

The Osa beach house was perfect! had no trouble finding the location since all the taxi drivers in the area know where everything is. The house was in great shape and very well maintained. Excellent landscaping and location. Not too far of a walk to a local bar and Rancho tropical is very close by allowing you to take a very scenic horseback ride. They literally bring the horses up on the beach to your place. Definately the best part of our trip was staying here. Monika was the best host imaginable. Setting up reservations and making sure we had what we needed. We'll be back.

I only was able to stay one night because of a family emergency, SO DISAPPOINTED!! The property and the host(s) were soooo amazingly sweet and warm!!!! Everyone of them were heartfelt and caring, offering me all manner of support in a time of crisis for me and my family. Even offering for me to use their phone for an international call :') They understood my urgency to get back home to my family and helped me double check that I had thought about everything I needed to arrange to head back. They sent me with prayers and well wishes that I shared with my family, so appreciated!!!! I really cannot say enough about Boca Sombrero! Stunning paradise with equally beautiful staff, heaven sent!!!! :D

My wife and I really enjoyed the house and the Osa peninsula. The openness of the house and feeling like you were indoors and outdoors at the same time was really cool. The sounds and sights were unique to the rain forest on the Osa . Lots of critters, birds and animals in and around the house. It was an experience living off the grid for a week with out a lot of the conveniences of our normal daily life. Be prepared to be in hot humid weather without A/C . I would say a car, scooter or bike is a real plus as the place is pretty remote. Shopping for food is a must before going to the house. Make sure you get some of the wonderful local coffee. I loved making the coffee in the coffee sock and pot. Never met Gretchen but the onsite host Moniker was nice and helpful. All in all we had an excellent stay.

The property is definitely as-advertised - gorgeous. The house is immaculate (clean, organized, etc.). Your access to a beautiful beach is maybe 50 steps from the pool - incredible. The hosts, Monika, Laura and Grace were very friendly and helpful. Monika set us up with surfboard rentals for $25 per board only a 5-min walk down the beach at Eddie's house - super private, not a big rental place (it's his house). Our first night was very warm. I asked Laura for a fan the next morning and she delivered. The only not-so-perfect thing was daytime privacy. This is the kind of place that you want to lounge at during the day with as few clothes on as is legally allowed. What we didn't understand was this AirB&B came with daily pool cleanings and a two-person cleaning crew each day (separate visits). They came in unannounced without as much as a hollar before entering the yard or the house/kitchen itself - a note for any potential "sunbathers". This may sound crazy, but I feel $470 for two nights should buy a bit more privacy. Other commentors have mentioned the bumpy road in from Puerto Jimenez. Yes, it's terrible, but if you've spent any time in Costa Rica, you know it's the best defense from turning beautiful areas like this into mega-touristy spots. All said, the place is incredible. It was only two of us, but the home is really built to accommodate two couples or a family. The two "local" restaurants are very tasty, but expensive. I suggest buying groceries to cook at the BM supermarket in PJ before driving in. The kitchen is so amazing it begs to be used.

Response from Gretchen:
Hi Colin - Thank you for your review! Sounds like you were well taken care of and enjoyed the house. Sorry about the disturbance from the house keepers. Due to the grass roof and open air design of the house, we feel it is necessary to provide daily cleaning. We will talk to the house keepers about announcing their arrival. We can also try to coordinate house and pool cleaning at the same time. Thanks again for the feedback.

I moved to Costa Rica from Seattle in 2003. I love the laid back lifestyle of Costa Rica and the incredible wildlife on the Osa Peninsula. I work as the booking agent for the three beachfront houses and eight tent cabinas that make up Boca Sombrero.
