We stayed for almost two weeks in this great house.
Heidi was out traveling but she’d arranged everything and two of her friends took good care of us during our stay, and they even picked us up in downtown Tamarindo when we arrived.
We had some initial problems in the first days as the fridge broke down, and the water supply stopped working, but Heidi’s friends did everything they could to help us out, and things were sorted out as quickly as possible.
The dog Janis and the cat is really nice and friendly, and we took Janis for several walks/runs around Tamarindo – It seemed to like it :-)
We had a wonderful stay in Heidi’s house!
Our stay at Heidi's in Tamarindo was fantastic. The house is great, lovely decorated, and close to the center of town and just a 10 minute walk to the beach. Nice, clean, comfy rooms, 3 bathrooms and spacious kitchen and fridge. The best was definitely the pool area which made it hard for us to get to the beach. We enjoyed barbecue dinners by the pool almost every night. Heidi was wonderful and she helped us with everything we needed. We also enjoyed the company of Janice and Bowie, Heidi's pets, very cute and adorable. I highly recommend you stop by :)
We were a group of young students in Tamarindo for a week at the end of March, and it was a joy for us to stay at Heidi's place! The house is in a very safe neighborhood of Tamarindo just down the street from Hotel Pasatiempo, and there were plenty of other foreigners around. Our favorite part of the house had to have been the pool, which sits in the middle of a mini-oasis in the front of the house i.e. surrounded by comfortable reclining chairs and a bar. Lazing by the pool with a cold Imperial beer will have you thinking "Pura Vida!" (Costa Rican saying for "pure life" or "this is life!") in no time! :)
The house is about a 2 minute walk to Banco Nacional (ATMs, etc.), and a 5-7 minute walk towards the town center gets you to Super 2001 or Supercompro (grocery stores), Sharky's and other bars, and plenty of shops. The beautiful beach is very close to the town center area (7-8 minute walk from the house), and was where we spent the majority of our time. Safe to say, the location is extremely convenient (we did not need a rental car at all during our stay).
As for the house itself, it is extremely clean, comfortable and well-equipped. March, April are months for brutal heat in Costa Rica, and the AC's in each room were a fantastic way to cool off. The kitchen has all of the utensils and cookware necessary to cook a meal for 6-8 people, and we had a great time eating family-style meals on the back porch or by the TV. The house has high speed WiFi and cable TV (which even has many American channels). Note that the Costa Rican service providers have to make frequent repairs in the town area during the hot season, so the service works most of the time, but there are some brief outages. Lastly, Heidi has a lovely, well-behaved dog named Janice, who we still miss having around the house to this day! If you don't like dogs, however, Janice can stay with Heidi so no issues there.
Heidi was a truly wonderful host who really looked after us during our stay. She has plenty of supplies, and will make sure any possible problems get resolved. Thank you to her and her husband for taking such good care of us and the house!
Basically, if you are looking for a place for 4-6 people in Tamarindo at a great price point, this is it. We'll definitely be back again!
We had the most incredible 9 nights at Heidi's house. The house was not as depicted in the photos - it was much better! We did not plan to spend much time at the house, but found ourselves spending our days lazing around the pool in the backyard oasis. Heidi and Christian were lovely hosts and even helped us with some last minute bookings, as they have a wealth of knowledge of the Tamarindo area.
The house is a short walk from two grocery stores so its easy to keep your fridge stocked with food and drinks. The house was very clean and they provided many towels. We were offered a maid service but decided to keep it clean ourselves.
We only wish we could have stayed longer! We are already looking for a reason to go back.
Thank you Heidi and Christian from all of us!
We went to Tamarindo Costa Rica at the end of Feb 2014.
The city is very touristic, but thereby also buzzing with a lot of bars and nice places to eat. The house of Heidi and Christian made our stay perfect. The pictures on the website are very realistic, is't even better than expected. More than enough space, clean and the swimmingpool is great!
The dog Janice made our stay even better. But, if you don't like dogs, she stays at Heidi's place. Although it's a little bit out of the citycentre you walk to the beach in 7 min and a taxi will cost you 1 dollar.
I love vintage style, clothing, music and antiques. I've done a lot of traveling in my life, loving to see different cultures around the world. Now living in Costa Rica, after many years, I still love the vibe of the tropics.
