About this listing
This beautiful home is filled with light, high ceilings, sweeping views of the city, a deck which is part of the living space and extends from the living room and the master bedroom. The master bedroom has a fireplace and also sweeping views.
Free garage parking, two fireplaces (one in the bedroom!), TV, hardwood floors, full kitchen (with microwave, big stove, modern coffee maker), washer/dryer, a Brookstone music tower (plays your iPhone/iPod music for you), shower and/or tub for bathing, high speed internet access, and direct street access to the house (no stairs).
The home is located in Bernal Heights, on a lovely, quiet street one (1) walking block from Cortland, where you will find local coffee shops, restaurants, grocery stores, wine bars, butcher shops, two bakeries, a bookstore, a library, an art gallery, a play ground for your kids, a farmer's market on Saturdays, and two lovely parks. We are also an easy waking distance from various other well known neighborhoods, including the Mission District, Dolores Park, the Castro and Noe Valley.
Frequent buses allow for easy access to any of the great San Francisco attractions such as Fisherman's Warf, Chinatown, North Beach, MOMA, Yerba Buena Gardens and more. One block from the front door you can catch a MUNI bus to the nearby BART (underground) station. Freeway access to the South Bay is ideal as well.
We look forward to having you as our guests and are happy to accommodate any particular needs you may have. For example, if you would like the flat cleaned during your stay, we will have someone come in to take care of that with pricing arranged for you depending on your needs.
The guest will have access to the entire home, a deck and a garden.
Interaction with Guests
I am available to guests at any time for any concerns they may have. I ensure that on the day of their arrival the access code is provided and they find everything in order. I may never meet the guest, however, depending on the circumstances.
The neighborhood has great coffee shops, restaurants and a hill with views of the entire city all in walking distance. It is also very child friendly as there is a playground, a library, children's toy stores, Wholefoods, etc. etc. A very authentic and typical SF neighborhood as mentioned by many who have stayed at the home.
A bus line runs a block away into the Mission and BART is available from there to go downtown or wherever BART runs.
We welcome guests who are looking for a cozy and quiet home to enjoy the views of the city after a busy day out. Who can resist views, a fireplace, and a glass of wine? My favorite is the fireplace in the bedroom.
You're welcome to have friends visit, but please no parties. We also request that you not smoke in the house, and although we love animals, we cannot allow them as future guests may be allergic.
If you end up taking photos while there that you think are fab to post on Airbnb, we would welcome that. Enjoy your stay and hope to see you again.
The NordicTrack you use at your own risk. While it was in working order, we do not have the ability to check it out following each rental and therefore cannot comment on whether or not it is in working order. Please let me know if you are interested in using them as we would require you to sign a waiver. For as long as you have not signed one, your use is considered not authorized.
A washer and dryer are on the premises and available for rentals that are a week or more in length.
I look forward to meeting you and to address any questions you may have. We hope you have a comfortable stay!
This house was exactly what I needed for my travels to San Francisco and the host was quick to respond with any questions I had.
Helena's place was a wonderful way to experience a real SF neighborhood. There are no hotels in Bernal Heights, and thus few tourists....we experienced SF like the locals. Helena was great communicating, and making sure we were set when we arrived. Especially liked the balcony (took a great nap on the lounger!) and 10 minute walk up to the top of the hill for incredible views.
We enjoyed this well-treated house in a nicely quiet neighborhood. The view from the terrace is also very nice.
Only challenge was a relatively hard bed in the master bedroom, but this might be related to our preference of a nicely soft bed (such as box spring). We recognized some smell in the area of the heating-grids in the master bedroom floor and curtains above at least during our stay there.
Helena was a great host as she prepared a comprehensive documentation about the house and neighborhood and was always responding fast on our messages.
It was a delight to host you and your family, Lucas. I am sorry you felt the bed was hard, as it actually has an top mattress that provides extra softness. It is very difficult to meet all preferences, as honestly someone else complained about the bed being too soft. As for the heating grids and curtains, we appreciated your note in this regard tremendously and have inspected it to ensure that there is nothing unusual going on. We hope your stay in San Francisco was pleasant and that you all got home safely, Lucas. Thank you again for your kindness and feedback.
The host canceled this reservation 17 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Andrew - per my response, 6 people is too much for the small home. You booked for four just yesterday but your note indicates that you will actually be six people. I declined within 24 hours as the site allows for automatic booking. Thank you and I hope you find a more suitable place.
Our first AirBnb experience and our first trip to San Francisco was complemented by a nice and comfortable stay. We are already planning a possible second visit. Thanks!
There was a car always parks in front of Helen's house, and she leaves a small spot for me to park (garage area), every time I park my car, she comes out and watches me to make sure I don't hit her car. If this is the case, she shouldn't park her car in someone's curb side. Helen's neighbor should understand that.
Helena was very accommodating and when we had questions she was very prompt at returning our text.
Her home was beautiful and inviting. The view on the deck, with multiple pots filled with colorful flowers, was breathtaking. There were several guide books about San Francisco and the surrounding area that were very helpful.
The home is located in a quiet residential neighborhood. We felt very safe. A short walk down to Cortland Avenue provided multiple restaurants, bars, and a grocery store. We made use of this convenience.
We would definitely stay there again
Thank you Helena!
About the Host, Helena
We live in San Francisco and work a little south of the city. Biking is a favorite, scuba diving a passion, triathlons a past obsession (Ironman Canada 2004 everyone! :)) followed by good food, and hanging out with good friends. But nothing comes close to the love I have for my little boy. He is the Apple!
But we love just about everything about this city and hope you will too!
