TIPS FOR BARCELONA:
What to see:
I recommend taking the BUS TURISTIC which is the hop on – hop off bus. You can enjoy the ride around the city and see, from the outside most of the most important architecture of our beautiful city (Sagrada Familia, Park Guell, Palace, Montjuich, Pueblo Español..). This will give you a perfect glance of the entire city and it is absolutely the best way to have an birds eye of Barcelona.
Once you have seen (but not visited) all….we recommend you to ….
Walk or better USING MY BICYCLE around…
Walk up all Paseo de Gracia and walk down all Rambla de Cataluña. Paseo de Gracia has beautiful Gaudi architecture, international shopping and sites. Rambla de Cataluña (with a pedestrian strolling area in the center of the street) will offer more local shopping, tapas places (Cerveceria Catalana) and little coffee shops.
Walk the Gothic. Walk down Las Ramblas and enter in the Boqueria market (best in the early morning hours…8am). Have tapas in Bar Cañete, take Ferran Street and cross Via Layetana to get Argentería street. Stop in front of the amazing Santa Maria del Mar church and enter into La Viña del Señor for a wine and cheese stop. Border the church through its right and end up in the El Borne neighborhood. Have fun through the one of a kind stores and then walk to the Picasso Museum. Walk then to the Santa Caterina Market and cross to The Cathedral to find Portaferrissa Street and end up in Plaza Cataluña.
Where to eat:
Easy price: Cervecería Catalana, Bar Cañete ((website hidden)), Lolita ((email hidden)), Cuines Santa Caterina, Bar Lobo, Fabrica Moritz, Quimet Quimet.
Medium Price Restaurants: Igueldo, Boca Grande, Tragaluz, Mordisco, Kilo, Passadis d’en Pep, Can Majo.
-Its forbidden to use my towels to go to the beach. If you need beach towels please ask.
- I thought it was not necessary.. but it is :-( Please take only what it is yours. You are not allowed to take food or any thing that is not yours. Please respect the rules of the house. Thank you!
-ELEVATOR please close very well both doors!! Is very important for the quite of the building.
Staying at Alessandro's apartment was a great choice! He was such a great host and very helpful in the days prior to our arrival. He gave very clear directions and made sure that we would have anything that we would need for our stay!
The pictures of the apartment are spot on! The bedroom is very spacious for two people, which included two beds, a couch, a closet area and even a hammock! He provided fresh towels and a couple bath robes. What I really loved most about the apartment was a separate guest lounge, where he had various tour credentials for us to use, and a small assortment of food/coffee. Each morning he would lay out a small breakfast for us, which was great!
Alessandro was very kind! We would spend most of our time outside of the apartment, but whenever we would come back or when we were in at the same time, he would keep to himself. The location was great as well! You step outside the apartment, and the metro was right there! It made getting around a lot easier! He also had his bicycles for us to use, but since we didn't know the rules of the road, we stuck to the metro.
All in all, it was a great experience! If we're ever back in Barcelona, I would not hesitate to stay with Alessandro again!
Fabulous location, 5 minutes walk to your right is La Sagrada Familia and 20 minutes walk to your right is the beach and 25-30minutes straight on is La Rambla. Really good location, very clean and the Alessandro couldn't be more helpful.
Lovely breakfasts with homemade treats and fresh fruit every morning. Very well thought out and would thoroughly recommend to all.
Just a recommendation for the Wok Show with a tiny unassuming front but really quick and tasty noodle and rice dishes, my eleven year old son wanted to eat there ( if up to him) every day.
Alessandro is a nice host and the apartment is always clean and neat. Location is convenient, within mins of walk to Sagrada Familia and right out of Metro L2. We really enjoyed our stay in Barcelona and will visit again.
Alessandro was a wonderful host, so sweet and welcoming! His apartment was lovely (bed was v comfy) and in a great location - really easy to find from the subway station, which is a 30 second walk away.
He let us leave our bags in the apartment while we made the most of the day before a late flight, and prepared lovely breakfast for us each morning.
The whole experience was stress-free and I'm very happy we chose to stay with Alessandro during our visit to Barcelona.
Once again thank you for the nice stay Alessandro! Paulien and I really enjoyed your beautiful and spacious apartment. You really helped us out with all our questions and problems as well. The possibility to explore Barcelona by bike was really nice. Gracias! I wish you all the best!!

LIVE THE CITY AS A LOCAL DO... here some useful tips:
*Don't orden a beer, order a "CANYA" and you'll get a 25 cl glass of draught beer. When you make a toast, say "CHIN-CHIN" or "SALUT", salut is the top local toast!
* Locals will be thankful if you try to talk some spanish, but you will win their hearts if you do it in Catalan. Say "BON DIA" for goodmorning or "ADEU" for goodbye. Easy way to win their sympathy...if you chose it!!
* Natives love being outside, especially at night. Since smoking has been banned in bars, people tend to gather in front of bars and pubs. Watch your behavior at that time: yelling, singing, drinking alcohol, removing your shirt or pissing in the street can get you a juicy fine.
*Barcelona at night rocks from Monday to Sunday. The nightlife scene is so broad that even locals find it difficult to decide where to go. But locals have suffered several invasions of nightclubs, now they flee tourists and shouting Erasmus student. Remember: Las Ramblas is not only place to go out for a drink or dance!!!
*Spain is well know for his siesta and paella. Although some locals have taken both as a habit, neither, are typical in the region. Try "FIDEUA"!!!
*Here La Sangria is becoming an exclusive drink for teenagers and tourists. If you want to have a cool drink before eating, try the "VERMOUTH". If you want to celebrate, ask for "CAVA" (a catalan sparkling wine of Denominatio of Origin status).
