I am a journalist and i live in Athens.I have traveled all over the world trying to bring back home a note of many different cultures. I respect and preserve the Greek identity of my villa, where the sun and sea get married with greek sapors and flavours.I grow my own biological garden and i am always available to give you all the informations you need for all the important points of interest in the area of west Greece.

During your stay
Even if you don't leave the villa and the immediate area for the duration, you will enjoy the sun, the beach, the water, the views, and the gorgeous sunsets. However, there is plenty to do within a short driving distance, from sports, to shopping, to tavernas and cafes, and night entertainment.

The strategical position of our villa offers to our guests the liberty to visit any place of west Greece they choose.
We provide guides and maps to our visitors for the most popular excursions of the area.
Despite that, remember - there is always space for some discovering adventure!!!

Take your time, enjoy shorter distance Vonitsa( 5 minutes drive) or traditional village Monastiraki.

Below nearby historical attractions and islands

Lefkada (Lefkas)
Just 22 km from Villa Porto Matzavino is the island of Lefkada, which is connected to the mainland by a small bridge. Pretty and quiet, it embodies Greek island life - even today, someone can still see women wearing centuries old traditional attires. Lefkada is famous for having some of the most beautiful beaches of Europe, like the beach of Porto-Katsiki. The southern beach and fishing village of Vasiliki has world-class windsurfing.

Scorpios and Meganisi
Another favorite destination is the small island of Meganisi, which can be reached by ferry from Lefkada. Of special interest is a boat ride around Scorpios, the private island of the late Greek shipping tycoon Aristotle Onassis.

Ithaki and Cephalonia
Ferries depart daily from the port of Vasiliki in Lefkada to the islands of Cefalonia and Ithaki (a 1.5 hour ride). Both are beautiful, traditional and pristine islands.

Route to Preveza

Preveza
The picturesque town of Preveza, built in the narrow entrance of the Amvrakikos gulf, is an interesting destination and distance only 15 km from the villa. The Neoclassical architecture of the old town, the outdoor market, and its renowned fish taverns that line the harbor, make Preveza a treat to the visitor in the summertime.

Nicopolis
A few kilometers outside of Preveza we find the ruins and the museum of ancient Nicopolis (in greek: "city of victory") -one of the most important cities of the early Roman and Christian eras. Roman Emperor Octavian founded the city in celebration of his victory over Marcus Antonius and Cleopatra in the naval battle of Actium, outside Preveza, in 31 BC. The significance and cultural strength of the city can be seen in its prominent castle walls, two large theatres, aqueduct, as well as several Byzantine monuments. The ancient ruins of Nicopolis are a beautiful site, and are truly worth visiting!

Acheron
The historic Acheron site and Nekromanteion – the oracle of the dead, important locations in Ancient Greece, are located about 1 hour drive from the house, near the village of Ammoudia,. at the delta of the river Acheron. According to Homer, Acheron River was at the edge of the “flat" world and it was the entrance to the Underworld, the world of the dead!

Parga
A beautiful town, about 80 km scenic drive from Preveza, Parga is built on a steep hillside around a small bay, with narrow traffic-free streets and alleys that give the town a strong Greek island feel. Cafes, bars and restaurants line the harbor or are hidden in the uphill alleys with beautiful views of the bay. A vibrant international destination provides its visitors with a variety of wonderful sights, activities, shops and nightlife. At the top of the hill sits an old Venetian fortress that offers panoramic views of the sea and the area.

Daily ferry excursions from Parga can take you to the islands of Paxi, Antipaxi, Corfu, as well as other destinations.

Paxi – Antipaxi
Paxi and Antipaxi are the smallest of the Ionian islands. Multiple daily excursion leave Parga in the morning for a tour of Paxi and Antipaxi that incudes swimming in turquoise waters, exploration of caves, and a visit to the picturesque village of Paxi for lunch, shopping, and a stroll around town.

The best way to experience the area is by renting a car.
