One of a kind apartment and location, a truly special place in this special city.
Italian modernist furniture + Swiss architect = Less of an apartment and more like a piece of art!
This is a splendid 100 square meter studio very conveniently located in the building of the Comedy Theatre - in the liveliest and most charming area of historical Bucharest (yet very quiet and peaceful as the entrance to the apartment is made through an inner courtyard, protected against the street tumult).
Once here forget about taxis or public transportation, you wont's need any. There's an UNESCO Heritage XV century church just around the corner. The well known People's House and the Museum of Contemporary Art are within 10 minute walking distance. The Royal Palace, National Art Museum and Romanian Athenaeum are also 10 minutes away. Not to mention countless bars, clubs and restaurants - you will be provided with an 'insider list' otherwise there will be very tricky to choose the quality places.
The apartment is recently renovated, decorated with impeccable taste and fully equipped for your comfort. Speaking about comfort you will joyfully realize that the bathroom here is about twice as large than the usual hotel room in Paris. Ample spaces everywhere. Higher standard living.
Sorry no TV nor Eurosport channels but there's an audiophile music system and lots of real books. The studio was always inhabited by artists - actors, directors, painters and now by a touring musician who rents it when he is away but who is quite selective about his guests.
However, once you are inside - you will feel privileged in this bohemian, beautiful and vibrant home - not at all like an impersonal hotel room or like the usual ikea-furnished apartments available for rent.
Perfect for a romantic getaway in the Sunny Bucharest!
I hate rules, but it will increase my listing performance if I fill in this 'house rules' field. So smoking is allowed, but only in the kitchen. Loud music is allowed since there are no neighbors near by. You can play the piano, or hit the music hi-fi music system. Just relax and feel at home in this charming studio and don't worry about rules!
Valeriu was a wonderful host, the apartment is a little hidden but he gave us excellent directions from the airport and met us outside, then took the time to recommend lots of places to go and things to do. We didn't have time to do everything he suggested but the things we did were great! Bucharest is a really vibrant and exciting city and super stylish too. The old town is a really eclectic mix of bars restaurants and the occasional erotic massage parlour but don't let that put you off, it has a very safe vibe. The apartment itself is beautiful and bohemian and much larger than it looks from the photos. Apartment, city and host all come highly recommended!
I have to say Valeriu's studio is just perfect. It's located in a great area, close to everything and every place you'd like to visit in Bucharest. It's right next to a lot of bars, restaurants and clubs but is still a very quiet place where you can rest. I haven't had the chance to meet Valeriu in person, but he helped me with everything I needed by phone.
When in Bucharest, you should stay here.
Valeriu was completely charming and helpful with lots of tips on what to do and how to enjoy the city. The apartment is very spacious and stylish and right in the heart of Bucharest. Loads of room for three people. I would recommend it very highly indeed.
Valeriu was a kind and generous host. He went above and beyond to accommodate us. The apartment was in a perfect area of town conveniently located to everything. We had a great stay!
Me and my husband were in Bucharest for my sister's wedding, and have just come back after a two week stay in Valeriu's flat. The flat looks just like in the pictures: it's absolutely gorgeous, full of charm and personality. As a local, I can tell you tasteful apartments like these are very rare in Bucharest. As other reviewers have noted, it's perfectly located right in the Old Town without being noisy - another rarity - as it overlooks an interior courtyard. After booking I realised that the flat didn't have air conditioning and started panicking, as they had announced C 30+ temperatures for the first week of our stay. I was also worried about the lack of a curtain to block the sun in the bedroom. Valeriu addressed both these concerns promptly and efficiently. By our arrival, he had purchased a mobile air-conditioning unit, and fitted a curtain in the bedroom. As it ended up being very hot in the first week, as announced, the small air conditioning struggled to cope, even with all the doors closed, as the rooms are very big and tall. Therefore, the first week was difficult, especially at night. However, this wasn't Valeriu's fault as it does say that the apartment doesn't have air conditioning. It got cooler in the second week, but sleeping with the window open invited the mosquitoes in, which although didn't touch my husband feasted on me every night, despite the mosquito repellent. I would say that for me, the lack of a mosquito screen was the biggest problem, as even when it was cool outside it got impossibly hot if you slept with the window and the door closed. We also happened to arrive right in the middle of renovation works to the building, which meant banging on the roof right outside our window from sunrise every day. However, again this was something no one could have foreseen (they started later in the second week when it was cooler), and we caught up on our sleep in the afternoon when it was quiet. At one point the water was stopped in the whole building, without prior notification, and in 30mins Valeriu had already found us another similar flat, where we stayed for two days until they turned the water back on. All in all, despite the difficulties, we fell in love with the apartment and had a lovely stay. Valeriu couldn't have been a better host: he regularly checked up on us to make sure everything was OK, recommended places to go to and things to do, and was always available by phone, even when out of town. I would definitely stay here again if the AC & mosquito screen problem were solved (or in another season, when neither are necessary).
Valeriu's appartment is a charming boheme, hipstery and hype place. The appartment is big and spacious , one feels great in it. One should know though that the access goes through a stairway corresponding to almost 4-5 levels of stairs. There is an AC column in the bedroom. We had some problems with the warm water who wasn't running frequently, we had to play with the water machine to make it work. But otherwise the locations is great and Valeriu a great and available host! Would recommend anytime.
