A straight train ride from JFK airport makes getting in and out smooth. Take a taxi from La Guardia or JFK and you're here in 25 mins.

  • I had a great time staying at The Skylight. Dexter was a fantastic host! It was a few days after my stay that we met, but leading up to that Dexter was available by email and text to ensure that I was able to get my keys and get into the apartment ok. Once we met in person, I feel like we saw each other every day, which was nice to say hi and chat about what we had going on that day.

What's super nice about Dexters place is that the living room splits down the apartment, so The Skylight was separate from the other guests who were staying there, yet we had a really awesome, comfortable place to sit and visit, which we did every day.

Overall my stay was fantastic, the other guest were great, and there was good food close by, including Ms. Dahlias Café, my new fav!

We I recommend staying there, absolutely!

  • Dexter was an amazing host. Every question or inquiry I had, was met with a prompt response and/or solution. I loved the space. The apartment was handsomely decorated and clean! The neighborhood is a gem. Bed-Stuy's beautiful tree-lined streets and stately brownstones made walks immensely enjoyable. The people were extremely polite and helpful whenever I needed directions. I would definitely stay again. Thanks Dex!

  • The skylight was absolutely perfect. Getting in from JFK was a breeze. The room was well-lit and clean, just as in the pictures. The neighborhood is fairly quiet / residential. I came home at 3am on Saturday and 2am on Sunday, and compared to other neighborhoods I've lived in or visited, it seemed quite safe.

Dexter was friendly and responsive. His hospitality really made a difference when he let me check in early - I had a red eye from San Francisco and desperately needed a nap. He went out of his way to clean up the room right after the other guest left so that I could move in, allowing for a well-rested day out and about in New York.

  • I never got to meet Dexter in person but he was very prompt in communicating and I had a great stay. The room was as described and it was very comfortable. As I was alone, I didn't feel completely safe travelling back there alone and night. That would probably be my only concern with choosing to stay there in the future.

  • A lovely room for two nights. Everything was as advertised. No complaints here. All of the previous comments about the neighborhood are correct (it's not bad but also not great). The walk from the subway is about 10-12 minutes. I would certainly stay with Dexter again if I have the opportunity.

  • Our stay here was pretty solid. Dexter was great with communication, and there was a simple lock box out front for our key. The place was super clean, exactly as pictured. It's pretty close to the C stop which will get you around anywhere in NYC. The only downside to the bedroom was that it was a little stuffy, with no air circulation or windows, so we had to sleep with the door open to get some air. Other than that, great stay.

  • Dexter is a really cool guy . He responds to messages really quickly and he was a very generous host. Spacious with a beautiful skylight. His apartment was very easy to get to and it was located in front of the bus stop in a couple blocks away from the train. I would more than recommend his place to anyone that's coming into New York

  • I can only recommend Dexter's AirBnB! I felt safe, comfortable and almost at home - the apartment is clean, stylish, and has a welcoming atmosphere. And you cannot not like the host himself :)

Plus: the Deli downstairs provides you with fresh coffee and food every day if you forget to go grocery shopping... hot coffee in the morning = happy German.
