Wine and cookies were waiting for us when we arrived and Sherry gave us a great tour in the house. The neighborhood is nice, old Louisville. We saw Shakespeare in the Central park just two blocks away. You have a little grocery store just around the corner and the pizzeria had great takeaway pizzas.
The flat was perfect for us; we liked the location and we liked the flat itself. The beds were very comfortable, kitchen was well equipped and wasting machine and the dryer were working well. We had lovely time in Louisville and at John's great home.
Our stay at Racing Silks was fantastic -- I was with a party of 6 traveling to Kentucky for the first time to travel the Bourbon Trail. When we arrived, there was a bottle of bourbon and some snacks waiting for us in the house with a note from Sharon that recommended different areas and different restaurants to check out.
The location was great -- close to UL campus and right in between downtown and Churchill downs so getting around the city using just an Uber was more than feasible. The listing is homey and comfortably fit our party of 6 and had a large open area for us to all hang out in. The listing is tucked away in the neighborhood and we were greeted well by neighbors. For the price and location, racing Silks is the way to go. Thanks John and Sharon!
The Racing Silks Carriage House was a great choice for our group. The place was very clean and well stocked with everything we needed for our stay. We even had a bottle of wine and some cookies waiting for us when we arrived pretty late in the evening (which was no issue at all, the realtor taking care of the place was very accommodating to our late arrival). The beds were very comfortable and there was ample space to unpack and feel at home. We were only three people but the place would easily accommodate six comfortably.
It's also in a great neighbourhood. The architecture in Old Louisville dates back to around the 1850s and if you visit the info center in Central Park (a few blocks away), they'll provide a suggested walking tour for the area.
I would stay at Racing Silks again in a heartbeat. Thanks!
An excellent place to stay with friends in the heart of charming Old Louisville. Check-in was easy, and John was easy to communicate with if we had any questions. They were nice enough to leave a couple of bottles of wine and some cookies for our stay. Plenty of parking, and near bus lines that can get you to all of the areas around Louisville, including downtown and Bardstown road. Would not hesitate to say here again.
The rental agent was very flexible and accommodating considering we ran into traffic on I-65 and forgot about the time difference. The unit was welcoming, clean and comfortable for the three of us. The wine and cookies were a nice treat. The washer and dryer were a pleasant surprise as well. We walked to the riverfront. It was a little over 2 miles but the neighborhood is beautiful and makes the walk very pleasant. It was great to have a small convenience store close by for little incidentials as well. All in all, would like to stay again next time we're in Louisville. Perfect girls weekend!
I stayed here for a long weekend. Louisville is a lovely town and this place is really centrally located to get to just about everything. It was clean and well maintained and I really liked that Jon works with a realty company to make sure there is a 24 hour maintenance line to call if you have any problems. Would definitely stay there again.
We had a great stay at the Racing Silks Carriage House! It had a warm, welcoming feel and there was plenty of space for all 4 of us who stayed there. Decorated in antique Derby memorabilia, the house has a very authentic Louisville flair! The host was very friendly easy to communicate with prior to arrival, and met us at the house to give us a tour and some history of the property. The carriage house is on a large lot with a big yard, and located in Old Louisville, which is a lovely neighborhood. The house is conveniently located, situated close to highways, downtown, and Bardstown Road (lots of good restaurants there!). Also, there is a lot for off-street parking, so finding a spot was never an issue. This was my first Airbnb experience, and I'm already hooked! I'd definitely recommend this listing to family and friends travelling to Louisville.
