This was a lovely little retreat. My partner and I came down for the Valentine's Day weekend (and also an academic conference nearby that was going on), and we absolutely loved staying here. Our hosts made sure that we got in ok, and checked us in over the phone since they could not be there to greet us. The neighborhood felt very safe to walk around in at night. The landscape was very green and lush and smelled constantly of citrus blossoms! The cabin was clean, cute and cozy. We would definitely stay again!
My stay at Mark's place was unplanned and rather short notice as most of my road trips go. I felt the urge to escape LB city and return back to nature where I can regain connectedness and a true sense of peace. It is Ojai that brings me there, the land is magical, the local people are genuine.
The moment I arrived at the property I knew I had made the right choice, or did the property choose me? Roxanne the caretaker greeted me with a warm welcome and gave me a brief and informative tour of the property.
The property is very inviting, warm and gives you a sense of seclusion and privacy. Splashed with bohemian decor throughout, nothing is straight or perfect. Precisely the point. The cabin is quaint, just roomy enough with a very comfortable bed. Neat and clean linens with drinking water provided. The outdoor shower and sink scene is charming. And for those who have never showered outside beneath the stars, I highly recommend the experience.
The short of the long, Mark's place rocks. Easy to find, very charming, fun and clean accommodations at a very reasonable rate. My only disappointment was not getting the chance to meet with Mark personally. I get the sense from his bio and his home that he is a good soul with a lot of kid in him.
See you on the next trip back to Ojai Mark.
This was a wonderful place, one of our favorites!!! Beautiful grounds, peace, quiet, towering trees above and room to roam and chill. We spent two nights here and got so much rest and quiet down time. Mark and Nicholas were superb hosts and we will definitely be back! Yeah for them and for Meiners Oaks.
The reservation was canceled 10 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
I had the pleasure of staying here for four nights. It is such a neat place! The Pine Cabin was everything I wanted it to be: quiet, temperature-cool, and a place away from it all where I could relax a bit and focus on a creative project or two.
The property is probably the most eclectic one that I've ever been to, but it all works. The outdoor shower was fantastic, and the outdoor kitchen area was laid out in a way that was functional and a good meeting place with other guests. The housekeeper on site and Sara were both readily available for any problems, and everything went really smooth overall.
Keep in mind: it's more glamping then a true cabin, and I highly recommend showing up before it gets too dark as the intentional layout can make it feel a little creepy when it's unfamiliar. But I recommend a weekend here if it calls to you, especially if you are part of a group that can rent out the entire place.
We arrived at night and Sara was there to let us in. That was quite nice since the surrounding area is a bit dark and not brightly lit.
I was looking for a place to retreat and be on my own with minimal interruptions. This place was perfect. The little cabin was comfortable and big enough to let me write, lay around and meditate. The neighborhood is really charming and quiet and the property, which I had to myself for a couple of nights was magical. I really can't say enough good stuff about the place. Neighborhood is conveniently located to a couple of great restaurants (The Deer Lodge, which also has awesome music nightly) and the Farmer and the Cook. I was minutes away from an awesome hike (Cozy Dell Trail) and downtown Ojai. Even though the host was called away unexpectedly I was able to be here quiet easily. Do yourself a favor and book this place.

With Mark traveling the world performing and his beautiful daughter Maeha in college, this family has decided to share their home with travelers, people looking to retreat to the delightful Ojai Valley and folks needing a comfortable foot on the ground in Los Angeles.
Since Mark tends to be out and about, our dear friend and property manager Sara takes care of things at home and handles most of the communication through airbnb.
Mark and Maeha love to spend time home in Ojai at Meiners Oaks Retreat or in Los Angeles at their Pied-à-Terre in Highland Park whenever possible.
