Perfectly nestled on the waterfront shore between Poulsbo and Bainbridge Island, is the serene getaway of Agate House. Whether you want to relax away the hours watching birds and seals outside the windows; or get out and explore all that the gorgeous Kitsap Peninsula has to offer - Agate House is the home base from which to do it all! With stunning views, curated décor, and easy access to amenities, this gem of a house is where precious memories will be made that will last long after you depart.
The space
Agate House has been thoughtfully furnished and prepared with guests’ comfort in mind. A calming neutral palette allows the ever-shifting outdoor view to take center stage. Why compete with what nature does so well? Natural materials and textures form the basis of the aesthetic, which creates a warm and inviting atmosphere for gathering with loved ones. With plenty of space to spread out or be together, everyone can get what they need out of their stay.
As you enter the main floor, you’ll be greeted with the view through the light-drenched living room out to the waters of Agate Passage. The living room is spacious and includes a dining table and benches that can seat 8-10 adults. Moving through towards the kitchen, there’s another small dining table that seats 4 people. The kitchen includes a propane range for cooking up a feast, along with dishware service for 12, and plenty of tools and gadgets for your culinary pursuits. Plenty of kitchen and pantry storage mean you can bring all the snacks your heart desires. Also on the main level is a large room with two queen size beds, a hall powder room, and the primary ensuite. The primary ensuite enjoys a gorgeous view of the water from the queen size bed, along with a huge walk-in closet with pocket doors. A large walk-in closet with pocket doors allows plenty of room for luggage storage, or to set up a travel crib.
*At this time we do not provide a travel crib on site*
We recommend getting familiar with the floorplan layout so that the arrangement of beds and baths is fully understood.
Downstairs, in the daylight basement, there are two more bedrooms, each with a queen size bed. The smallest room is a cozy, cocoon-like space that provides a quiet, dark environment for sleeping. The larger bedroom features a view out of the corner windows to the water, along with a dresser and large closet with luggage racks. Near the bedroom, there’s a full bathroom with double sinks that are open to the hallway, while the toilet and tub/shower are in a separate room. The large rec room features a 55” smart tv pre-loaded with streaming apps.
*Please note that for the time being, this is the only TV in the home*
Stairs leading up from the entry way provide access to a rooftop deck, which currently houses a picnic table. As the warm weather season returns, the deck will be enhanced with additional seating and sun protection.
Guest access
Guests have access to the majority of the home, with the exception of the garage, a closet off the kitchen that stores supplies, and three utility/storage rooms in the basement.

Pet Policy:
***READ BEFORE BOOKING***
We want to provide a space for folks to gather with their furry family member, however there are several stipulations to this policy, and it’s important that expectations are totally clear prior to booking. To comply with our pet policy, please send an inquiry prior to booking to tell us more about your dog companion.
-Dogs are the only pets that will be considered.
-ONE dog is allowed per booking.
-Your dog must be housebroken, and not have destructive tendencies.
-Your dog must remain on a leash at all times while outside.
-You MUST clean up your dog’s excrement from the yard.
-Your dog MUST be confined to a crate if you leave it in the home unattended.
-Large dogs are not allowed on the furniture. A request for additional payment may be made if there’s damage to upholstery or large amounts of hair that require extensive cleaning efforts.
-Dog paws need to be wiped before entering the home, just as humans are asked to remove their shoes.
-We prohibit dogs from swimming in the Pass. The water is extraordinarily cold, deep, and the currents are very strong. It’s not safe, and its potentially very messy.
Here’s what we provide:
-We provide medium and large metal crates, should you need to leave your dog in the home unattended.
-We provide a medium or large size dog bed should you not want to bring your own.
-We provide a towel for wiping down your dog prior to entering the home.
-We provide stainless steel food and water dishes in various sizes.
Use Caution with Children:
It’s very important to note that there are elements to the architecture of the house, and the waterfront nature of the property, that may pose significant risks to small children who are not closely supervised. We don’t want to forbid small kids from staying, but we do want folks to know that this property is NOT child-proofed, and that close supervision of little ones is required. Some of the most obvious risks are for the bulkhead, which is not fenced, the curved exterior staircase leading to the yard, and the roof-top deck.
Old House Quirks:
We’ve worked very hard to create a beautiful and comfortable space for guests to enjoy. Please be aware, however, that this is an old home that has raised a family of boys and seen many life events. It’s not perfect and has it’s quirks like most houses, with some wear about the edges.
Parking:
There is a tight circular driveway, that if strategically parked should fit 2-4 vehicles while still being able to use the circle. There is another small area further up the driveway that will accommodate two additional vehicles for overflow parking. It’s best to carpool if you’re considering bringing more that 4 vehicles, as there’s not an option for street parking.
Beach Access:
Please be aware that the dock you can see in these photos does NOT belong to Agate House. There is no dock attached to the property, and the docks to the north and south are for private use only. The beach that belongs to Agate House is the area directly in front of the property. The beautiful sand spit and lagoon to the south is the private property of Kiana Lodge, and is not for our guests' use. It's a wonderful area to look at, but please do not trespass.
The currents in Agate Passage are very strong, and the water extremely cold. We do not recommend swimming in this water, or entering it in a small craft without a motor. There are other, more protected bodies of water in the area for enjoying kayaks or standup paddle boards.

Neighborhood highlights
The Sandy Hook neighborhood follows the shores of Agate Passage, and is a typical Pacific Northwest combination of dense evergreen forest meets rocky-beach waterfront. While mainly comprised of residential homes, the neighborhood also contains the Kiana Lodge Event Center, Suquamish Seafoods, and the Masi Shop service station. Just a three-minute drive away is the Suquamish Clearwater Casino Resort, with multiple restaurants and a spa. The neighborhood feels quiet and secluded, though not remote. We expect guests of Agate House to respect the neighbors who call this place home. There are frequently residents out walking dogs along the road, which has very little shoulder, so it’s crucial to drive slowly and safely.
