Interaction with Guests

We are in the beautiful Greenwood neighborhood bordering UNC woodland trails. We love the convenience of being walking distance (or short ride) to the UNC campus and hospital, while still feeling that we live in the country. We have lots of trees, flowers, birds, butterflies, deer... and a friendly neighborhood.
The Chapel Hill Transit bus system is free. It's about a two-minute walk to bus stops, with easy access to the university, UNC Heath Care and major shopping/restaurant areas. A food store and drugstore are a ten-minute walk away.
Other Things to Note
We prefer having a phone conversation with prospective guests before accepting a reservation.
After we receive a booking request, we will ask airbnb to contact you. They will ask your permission to give us your phone number so that we can give you a call.
We enjoyed another fabulous stay at Gracious Greenwood! Vicky & Alan offer all the comforts of home in their cozy apartment. The setting is tranquil with beautiful flowering plants and an abundance of wildlife--birds, squirrels and even a chipmunk! We love the bouquet of flowers from their garden that greeted us! They are lovely hosts.
Gracious Greenwood is aptly named! The room is as described and wonderful, the setting is beautiful and Vicky and Alan are definitely gracious hosts! The patries and fruit were a great way to start our days. Vicky and Alan were very responsive and easy to communicate with and were eager to make sure our needs were met, which we really appreciated. This was definitely the best Airbnb experience we've had and we look forward to staying at Gracious Greenwood on our next visit.
what a delightful surprise! the perfect place!
Beautiful flowers, fresh berries and yogurt, magnificent setting and location, comfortable beds, a bowl of treats for my service dog, a warm welcome, upscale linens, a candle with matches and a flashlight for an emergency, a large umbrella situated near the dog, outside patio with birds and bird feeders,.....and above all a warm welcome. thank you Alan and Vickie
I can't imagine anywhere better to stay in Chapel Hill. Vicky and Alan are wonderful hosts, and immediately make you feel welcome. Their home is a 30-minute walk or 5-minute Uber (about $8) from the happenings on Franklin Street and Carrboro and is a great spot to explore the Chapel Hill/Durham/Raleigh area. The rooms are clean and sitting outside watching the hummingbirds with breakfast, fruit and coffee is a delight.
Staying with Alan and Victoria was a perfect getaway for us and our two dogs. The apt is attached to the house they reside in, but is very private. Alan and Victoria were very friendly and left us with everything we could possibly need for our stay. The neighborhood is wonderful; very close to campus and great for walking dogs. We would definitely stay with Alan and Victoria again in the future.
My friend and I had a very comfortable, pleasant stay at Gracious Greenwood. Alan was great about responding to any questions we had before we arrived and directing us to the location. He welcomed us and gave us a tour of the apartment when we arrived. The bedrooms and bathroom were very clean and well appointed. We especially appreciated the coffee, bagels, and fresh fruit they provided, and we enjoyed the woods and animals which surround the property. The location is quiet (great for getting lots of sleep) and convenient to the campus and downtown Chapel Hill and Carborro. It was nice to have a separate entrance, and we didn't feel as if we were intruding or bothering the hosts if we left early in the mornings or came back late in the evenings. Alan and Vicky are fabulous hosts - they responded quickly if we had questions and were accommodating to our requests. I highly recommend staying at Gracious Greenwood, and if I am ever in the area in the future, I will definitely stay with Alan and Vicky again!
This was my first experience with airbnb and I could not have been more pleased. Vicky and Alan were the most gracious hosts you could wish for, and I felt quite welcome from the moment I pulled up and there were waiting to greet me. The whole property was charming, quite and private. The inside was truly like a home away from home, so much better than any hotel room. Everything you needed was provided and it was immaculate. I very much look forward to my next stay at Gracious Greenwood.
About the Host, Victoria & Alan
Vicky was born and raised in North Carolina. For forty years she guided the development of Chapel Hill's first and largest recreational soccer program. Her love of flowers at home and at work at Whole Foods helps keeps her happy. Vicky's license plate reads, "GR@I2UDE." She is grateful for her life in Chapel Hill… and most everything.
Alan was born in Chicago and lived in Arizona, Hawaii and Norway. He was a Cruise Director and Director of Entertainment for major cruise lines after a successful singing career that included stage, TV, concerts and recording. After retiring to Chapel Hill, Alan began volunteering at UNC Hospitals singing for patients, with a special interest in bringing music to children. Most recently, Alan was asked to join the Guest Services Team at UNC Health Care, guitar and all.
Two of our favorite films are "Love Actually" and "The Intouchables."
