Interaction with Guests
We want your stay to be personalized and memorable. Are there any snacks/supplies you would like us to purchase for you before you arrive? What kind of morning pastries do you prefer? Because Alan loves his coffee, he can provide several different types of coffee & coffee-makers.
We are in the beautiful Greenwood neighborhood bordering UNC woodland trails. We love the convenience of being walking distance (or short ride) to the UNC campus and hospital, while still feeling that we live in the country. We have lots of trees, flowers, birds, butterflies, deer... and a friendly neighborhood.
The Chapel Hill Transit bus system is free. It's about a two-minute walk to bus stops, with easy access to the university, UNC Heath Care and major shopping/restaurant areas. A food store and drugstore are a ten-minute walk away.
Other Things to Note
We prefer having a phone conversation with prospective guests before accepting a reservation.
After we receive a booking request, we will ask airbnb to contact you. They will ask your permission to give us your phone number so that we can give you a call.
We had such lovely accommodations at Vicky and Alan's lovely home.
They were gracious hosts (I suppose that goes with the name of their place, Gracious Greenwood!) and it was quiet, the bed was incredibly comfortable and we appreciated the magnificent hand pressed linens.
It was a lovely touch to provide breakfast for us that you left in the refrigerator at the house. We also were impressed with the fresh flowers throughout both inside and outside! It was a fabulous location with the town so nearby. The only negative was our having only booked one night!
We wholeheartedly recommend Gracious Greenwood and hope to return sometime. Thank you again!
My wife, daughter and I had a wonderful time for a couple of nights at Gracious Greenwood, which lives up to its name in every sense. The apartment is lovely, and a nice size for 3 or 4 with its two bedrooms. Springtime is lovely in Chapel Hill, with birds feeding right outside the windows and blossoms everywhere. The neighborhood is delightful for walking, too! Victoria and Alan were charming and thoughtful hosts, asking ahead for our preferences of breakfast treats and fruits so they could stock the kitchen with some provisions. They provide plenty of maps and guides to the area as well, and are generous with advice on activities, directions, dining choices, etc. Gracious Greenwood is a no-brainer in comparison to a hotel room for a short or long stay in Chapel Hill.
We had such a wonderful time staying at Gracious Greenwood during our time in Chapel Hill. Vicky and Alan, thank you so much for your hospitality - you went above and beyond to make our family feel comfortable in your gorgeous home. We're already looking for a reason to return as soon as possible!

Alan and Vicky (and their sweet dog Sam) are just the sweetest! We arrived to a PRECIOUS picture-esc home away from home with clean linens, heated beds, FRESH flowers, a bowl full of fruit, breakfast muffins in the fridge and coffee for days!! You can look out the windows to see birds chirping and sun streaming through the blooming trees. They were wonderful hosts making sure that we had everything we needed but also giving us our space to come and go as we pleased. Look no further than Gracious Greenwood if you're staying in Chapel Hill, NC!!
Victoria and Alan made us feel so welcome! Their place is a idyllic, garden setting and was perfect for our needs. They went out of their way to help us and we can't wait to go back!
Oh my gosh, where to start? What a wonderful experience we had staying with Alan and Vicky! We were in town on a college visit and their place was PERFECT. The rooms were warm and inviting, the beds soft, clean, and comfy, the amenities fabulous. My daughter actually said " Mom, I miss being there" the next day. :) I hope we have the chance to visit Chapel Hill again, so we can stay with them!
Vicky and Alan were awesome hosts. The apartment was great - so clean, quiet, in a great location, and it had everything you could need. Plus they provided fruit, coffee, tea, milk, chocolate croissants...the list goes on! Way better than a hotel room :) Lovely people and easily one of the best places we've stayed in.
Vicky was born and raised in North Carolina. For forty years she guided the development of Chapel Hill's first and largest recreational soccer program. Her love of flowers at home and at work at Whole Foods helps keeps her happy. Vicky's license plate reads, "GR@I2UDE." She is grateful for her life in Chapel Hill… and most everything.
Alan was born in Chicago and lived in Arizona, Hawaii and Norway. He was a Cruise Director and Director of Entertainment for major cruise lines after a successful singing career that included stage, TV, concerts and recording. After retiring to Chapel Hill, Alan began volunteering at UNC Hospitals singing for patients, with a special interest in bringing music to children. Most recently, Alan was asked to join the Guest Services Team at UNC Health Care, guitar and all.
Two of our favorite films are "Love Actually" and "The Intouchables."
