Shiros Apartment is the last of 3 apartments in a long, narrow building facing the back courtyard corner. The bedroom has an attached porch, few chairs and table for relaxing 'neath the shade of some huge trees and greenery. The backyard is shared and a tranquil retreat in the middle of a very central city location. A picnic table, sun umbrella and hammock are nestled for communal use in the back courtyard corner.
Two night minimum preferred. If this accommodation is not available for the dates you seek, please check out my 3 other listings on the same property.
Guests have access to their private apartment and are welcome to use the back yard area that is a shared common area for the home. The apartment has wifi and access to a large and diverse DVD collection.
Parking in standard, free, on-street parking. There is typically ample space directly in front of the home. Parking during busier times of the year (i.e. Mardi Gras) can be more difficult.
Interaction with Guests
Guests are given directions/information on how to let themselves into the unit. We have normal work lives; however, live on property and are easily available to answer any questions, say hello or chat. Level of interaction once on property is totally up to each guest's preference.
Our home is in the historic Treme neighborhood. Treme is definitely a neighborhood in transition and is full of character. If you are expecting pristine looking homes and perfectly groomed lawns, Treme is not the neighborhood for you. Feel free to research more online about the neighborhood.

My friend and I lived in Shiro's apartment for three nights when we visited New Orleans this February. It offered everything we expected: cozy room, convenient commute, and very residential vibe. We did feel at home! Thanks, Whitney. If we re-visit New Orleans at some point in the future, we will definitely choose your apartment again!
We had such a wonderful, stress-free stay at Shiro's apartment during Mardi Gras. The apartment is a nice, easy walk from all the action but tucked away in a quiet area to allow for a more relaxing experience compared to the crazy Bourbon Street hotels and apartments. We were able to explore all of New Orleans without having a car and only took a cab once or twice. The space was large and with all the amenities we could need for our stay. We really highly recommend this apartment!
I couldn't be happier about my stay at Shiro's. The apartment is beautiful and conveniently located. I would definitely stay there again when I return to New Orleans.
Shiros apartment was conveniently located with all the comforts of home. Great place to see all the New Orleans sights. Whitney was a wonderful host!
Our first trip to New Orleans was awesome in every way. Whitney answered my questions via airbnb extremely promptly and even accommodated an early check-in. The apartment was nice and clean upon arrival, and the first day we found out that the location is indeed perfect for walking to the French Quarter, Marigny and the Central Business District. During our stay, the people of New Orleans exhibited an excellent service mindset and an easygoing attitude that made us feel at home. The spirit of St Louis Cathedral, Ursulines Convent, the Voodoo Museum and the artifacts at the New Orleans Museum of Art was deep and meaningful. The food was fantastic at Coop's Place, Cochon, St Lawrence and Luke, among others. All in all, it was the best vacation my girlfriend and I have ever been on, and a lot of that was because the place we were staying felt like home. Thanks Whitney!
Whitney was a fantastic host. She thought of everything and was always so accomodating and helpful! Shiro's apartment was an extremely comfortable retreat during our stay in New Orleans and so close to the French Quarter. Couldn't recommend Whitney and her facilities highly enough.

My name is Whitney and I am a New Orleans transplant. Originally from North Carolina- I have lived in New Orleans since July 2010. Although I miss North Carolina often, I have fallen in love with New Orleans- the food, the spirit of the people, the music, the culture, the history, the tradition and even my husband, Tom! New Orleans has treated me well and I hope to repay it the favor for many years to come.
I have been an airbnb host since July 2012. The property was first listed on airbnb by the previous owner "Belinda." We want to be able to provide all of our guests with a quiet, nice and convenient place to stay as they take in all that New Orleans has to offer.
We hope to meet with you soon and help to make your New Orleans experience memorable.
Whitney (& Tom) :)
