Shiros Apartment is the last of 3 apartments in a long, narrow building facing the back courtyard corner. The bedroom has an attached porch, few chairs and table for relaxing 'neath the shade of some huge trees and greenery. The backyard is shared and a tranquil retreat in the middle of a very central city location. A picnic table, sun umbrella and hammock are nestled for communal use in the back courtyard corner.
Two night minimum preferred. If this accommodation is not available for the dates you seek, please check out my 3 other listings on the same property.
Guests have access to their private apartment and are welcome to use the back yard area that is a shared common area for the home. The apartment has wifi and access to a large and diverse DVD collection.
Parking in standard, free, on-street parking. There is typically ample space directly in front of the home. Parking during busier times of the year (i.e. Mardi Gras) can be more difficult.
Interaction with Guests
Guests are given directions/information on how to let themselves into the unit. We have normal work lives; however, live on property and are easily available to answer any questions, say hello or chat. Level of interaction once on property is totally up to each guest's preference.
Our home is in the historic Treme neighborhood. Treme is definitely a neighborhood in transition and is full of character. If you are expecting pristine looking homes and perfectly groomed lawns, Treme is not the neighborhood for you. Feel free to research more online about the neighborhood.

Shiro's Apartment was super cute and comfortable. It was located in the South Treme and within walking distance to the French quarter and Frenchman street. There are cool things to do nearby. Parking on the street was easy. The beverages in the fridge were a godsend, as was the provided coffee. The AC worked great. The decor and feel were super cool. The back patio was a nice added bonus. A quiet and comfortable place to stay in NOLA.
This place was amazing! The location was perfect, walking distance to the French Quarter and the hip Marigny area and the space itself was perfect for my husband and I. We took advantage of their full kitchen (and appreciated the complementary beers in the fridge!), the A/C and fans made the summer heat bearable, and we also enjoyed lounging in the big shared yard. Perfect vacation! Whitney and her husband Tom are very friendly and very accommodating, I highly recommend staying at one of their apts!!!
The apartment was gorgeous, well-appointed, very clean, and in a very good location. It is a terrific place to stay, and only a short walk from the French Quarter. Only thing is the number 1127 was not easily visible from the privacy gate that shielded the cluster of little houses from Marais Street so the cabbie had a hard time locating the apartment initially. We alighted at 1126 and looked around for quite a while until a kind soul told us that 1127 was inside the tall wooden gate.
Other than that, the apartment was simply great.
Great apartment in a great neighborhood. Everything as advertised.
As others have indicated, Shiro's was amazingly situated within minutes of the Quarter & Frenchman Street. The neighborhood was intimate and nearly ever neighbor we walked past took a minute to say hello.
We'd echo the sentiments of all the other reviewers about our hosts. They were accommodating, extremely friendly, and provided some great recommendations for meals and watering holes.
Our only regret was that we couldn't stay longer!
The place is really cute and quiet. It has everything you could expect. Close to all the sightseeings. It feels like home. The Cajun seafood market is only 5 minuets walk. It's so cheap and yummy!!!!!
Whitney was a great host. She provided all the needed details prior to arriving, left tips for planning tours and other activities in the apartment and was very accommodating. We got to meet her husband as well, who was just as kind. The apartment itself is really cute - newly renovated and comfortable. Everything you need is there. The neighborhood is in a quiet block of the Treme neighborhood but is still so close to everything! It gave us a great home-base and was easily walking distance to the Quarter, Frenchman Street, even the CBD and trolley line to Uptown. We went for a few runs down Esplanade and around the surrounding areas. It was just what we were looking for.

About the Host, Whitney
My name is Whitney and I am a New Orleans transplant. Originally from North Carolina- I have lived in New Orleans since July 2010. Although I miss North Carolina often, I have fallen in love with New Orleans- the food, the spirit of the people, the music, the culture, the history, the tradition and even my husband, Tom! New Orleans has treated me well and I hope to repay it the favor for many years to come.
I have been an airbnb host since July 2012. The property was first listed on airbnb by the previous owner "Belinda." We want to be able to provide all of our guests with a quiet, nice and convenient place to stay as they take in all that New Orleans has to offer.
We hope to meet with you soon and help to make your New Orleans experience memorable.
Whitney (& Tom) :)
