Shiros Apartment is the last of 3 apartments in a long, narrow building facing the back courtyard corner. The bedroom has an attached porch, few chairs and table for relaxing 'neath the shade of some huge trees and greenery. The backyard is shared and a tranquil retreat in the middle of a very central city location. A picnic table, sun umbrella and hammock are nestled for communal use in the back courtyard corner.
Two night minimum preferred. If this accommodation is not available for the dates you seek, please check out my 3 other listings on the same property.
Guests have access to their private apartment and are welcome to use the back yard area that is a shared common area for the home. The apartment has wifi and access to a large and diverse DVD collection.
Parking in standard, free, on-street parking. There is typically ample space directly in front of the home. Parking during busier times of the year (i.e. Mardi Gras) can be more difficult.
Interaction with Guests
Guests are given directions/information on how to let themselves into the unit. We have normal work lives; however, live on property and are easily available to answer any questions, say hello or chat. Level of interaction once on property is totally up to each guest's preference.
Our home is in the historic Treme neighborhood. Treme is definitely a neighborhood in transition and is full of character. If you are expecting pristine looking homes and perfectly groomed lawns, Treme is not the neighborhood for you. Feel free to research more online about the neighborhood.

Had a fabulous stay at Shiro's apartment. Photographs don't do it justice, the apartment looks even better in person. Beautiful hardwood floors, track lighting, modern appliances in kitchen and bath--including jacuzzi tub & rain shower head with handheld attachment. Very comfortable bed, super soft sheets and towels. Great attention to detail that make for an even more pleasurable stay, particularly for the price. Location in Treme is convenient to both the Quarter and Marigny, helpful to have a car or bike if you really plan on exploring the city. Whitney was great, incredibly straightforward and efficient. Would definitely stay here again and recommend this place to others as well.
A wonderfull and quite place very close (about 15 minutes walking distance) to Bourbon St. and - musically more important - Frenchman street. Very close to Louis Armstrong park and Congo Square. And just around the corner from the wondefull Esplanade Avenue. The apartment is beautifull with everything you need including the possibility to sit outside in the garden.
Couldn't be happier with our stay in Shiro's. It was just as pictured, great comfy bed with beautiful bed linen, great location just a short walk to Quarter. Was nice to have a kitchen so we could buy a few supplies and not have to eat out every meal.
Did not meet Whitney but her husband Tom was very friendly and helpful. Even met their two dogs which for us was fantastic as we were missing our own dogs.
I would highly recommend this place!!
The communication and instructions were perfect! Our stay was very easy to get in and out of efficiently. The space was a place I could LIVE in... nicely remodeled and clean, and only a short walk (~7min) to the French Quarter.
The bonus was getting to meet (and subsequently hang) with our hosts in their family backyard- with their cute dogs. They were fun, friendly and helpful... and when it came to choosing food options, they suggested a nice multi-vendor market nearby that was amazing (St. Roch)! We also became friends with another renter who was traveling solo, and added him into our nightly plans.
Overall, I can't wait to come back, and hopefully this spot will be available. Thanks Whitney!
What a wonderful and convenient location! My wife and I stayed for two days at the end of our trip to New Orleans and Shiro's apartment was wonderful and as described. The treed back yard, which the bedroom looked out on, was a wonderful respite from the craziness that is Bourbon St. Maps and information were readily available and plentiful. Would definitely stay here again.

About the Host, Whitney
My name is Whitney and I am a New Orleans transplant. Originally from North Carolina- I have lived in New Orleans since July 2010. Although I miss North Carolina often, I have fallen in love with New Orleans- the food, the spirit of the people, the music, the culture, the history, the tradition and even my husband, Tom! New Orleans has treated me well and I hope to repay it the favor for many years to come.
I have been an airbnb host since July 2012. The property was first listed on airbnb by the previous owner "Belinda." We want to be able to provide all of our guests with a quiet, nice and convenient place to stay as they take in all that New Orleans has to offer.
We hope to meet with you soon and help to make your New Orleans experience memorable.
Whitney (& Tom) :)
