WORTH VISITING outside Calafell
The Penedés region has been making waves not only for its famed cava production (Spanish sparkling wine), but also for its rich variety in white and red wines. The landscape in the Penedés is warm and gentle, bathed in a golden Mediterranean light, and marked by the many civilizations that passed through or settled the area. Thus, the region is also a place of fascinating historical wealth, traceable through the architectural landmarks left behind by ancient Romans, medieval monks and modernist masters.
Tarragona 'the Balcony of the Mediterranean' is, owing to the Romans, arguably the most elegant city of the Iberian peninsula.
The Roman ruins of Tarragona have been designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

Have a nice stay
The host was nice and helpful and I really liked the place, quiet and clean. Now the very big problem with this place or for me at least was the smoke. The landlady was smoking non stop indoor. I was ok with the rules and regulations shown on the conditions, but be cautious I got it all wrong. When I saw smoking not allowed (as part of the rules), I assumed it was a non-smoke environment. It is absolutely not, now of course it depends when you go and how much you can bear with smoke. As it was summer, the weather was good and I spent lots of time outside, this was bearable. Plus the landlady was nice and let me use the table outside in the garden to have my meals, so it was ok, but in winter or if the weather had been bad it would have been different. Now to be fair, the room itself must have been smoke free because it did not smell of smoke. I would still go there in summer given a choice, as I spent lot of time outside and the room and house is very pleasant. The small village is nice too and it is 20 minutes walk to the beach.
ik voelde me zeer welkom en dat is fijn na een lange reis er werd me drinken aangeboden en ze wou me meteen al helpen met van alles.
We stayed for 3 nights at Nat's place and we really enjoyed our stay and conversations with the landlady. Staying here gave us an opportunity to enjoy the area while staying away from the big crowds.
BISOUUUU
