Five star value in a location that can't be beat....
Located on the second floor of a century old home (completely remodeled in 2005) the accommodations include the following:
A nice sized bedroom with a sitting area, a dresser, a closet and gas stove/ fireplace. The sleigh bed is queen sized and has a pillow top mattress.
In a separate larger room, there is a lounge area with a very long down filled sectional couch that can be made into a bed. The room also has a new mini fridge, microwave oven, coffee machine, grinder, french press and electric kettle. There is a table with two chairs and a buffet with dishes and utensils.
Both rooms have vintage Douglas fir flooring.
The bathroom is large, has two sinks and a large walk in shower. (And a toilet of course!)
The bedroom and lounge area are connected by a small hallway. Each room has a door. The bathroom is accessed through the lounge. The space is entirely private as is the entrance.
There is cable tv, a dvd player and free wireless internet.
Can't be beat for access to downtown Portland, the Oregon Convention Center, and the eastside Belmont and Hawthorne neighborhoods. Portland's 28th street restaurant row is right around the corner, and three blocks away there is a Whole Foods and a very cool second run movie theater. Within a short walk there are at least a dozen top rated restaurants to suit every taste and pocketbook and beautiful Laurelhurst Park is about 1/2 mile away.
The number 19, 20, and 12 bus lines are all close by and will take you downtown and to the airport. If you are driving there is always on street parking nearby. There is an Enterprise car rental lot on Sandy approximately three blocks away and six zipcars within a mile.
Absolutely no smoking of any kind is allowed in the apartment. The entry door to the apartment has an electronic combination lock. I'll give you the combination before you arrive. Please make sure the door is locked before you leave and after you enter the house.
Staying in Dans upstairs suite was great! Dan is very friendly and welcoming :) The house is super cozy with big windows and hardwood floors on a tree lined street. The bed is really comfortable too! The neighbourhood is really nice and very safe. It was easy to access by public transit (a transit day pass is only $5.) We were very happy that we chose to stay here!
Great place in a great location, Dan was an incredibly nice guy and was very helpful and hospitable. Can't wait to come back again soon!
Dan personally greeted us and gave us an overview of the apartment and neighborhood. The apartment itself is perfect. Comfortable, clean and cozy. We loved the gas stove/heater in the bedroom. It was soothing and romantic to see its flames flicker at night as we listened to rain on the roof. The bathroom is huge, with a long counter that houses two sinks and mirrors and enough space for five supermodels to set up their cosmetics. The living room/kitchenette are also spacious and well appointed. Though TV stations are meager, Wifi is provided. We will definitely stay there again.
Dan's place was nice. Easy to access and a good location. The bathroom is big and the bedroom has a lovely fireplace heating unit that makes it nice and toasty. The only thing we would like different is the apartment itself lacks a bit of privacy with the stairs leading up to the upper floor unit not having a door (although the bedroom and living room do have doors) Other than that the place is very cozy.
Our stay at Great Location, Vintage and Cozy was great. The location is perfect - many great restaurants, shops and bars in the area - all within walking distance. We felt that we got a great deal for the price we paid and would recommend it to others looking for a short stay in Portland.
Dan was a great host - meeting us when we arrived and showing us the specifics of the apartment. Couldn't have asked for a better experience!
This place is EXTREMELY central to eating and drinking in Portland. It was amazing how close (within a block) this apartment is from local microbreweries and incredible restaurants. If you're planning on bringing a bike, this is such a central location to bike downtown, shopping, as well as to the distilleries and breweries.
The apartment itself is exactly as pictured and perfect for 2-3 people. We were only two so we fit in the bedroom but spent our breathing time in the seperate living room. The bathroom is plenty large with double vanities and a big shower. The place is also well heated (we went during a cold spell) and has enough blankets to stay warm.
Dan himself was very hospitable and met us upon arrival, making sure to show us how to use the lock as well as his binder on all the local good stuffs to catch while in town!
I would definitely stay here again.
Very nice place, quiet but convenient to interesting nearby restaurants of various kinds. Comfortable bed, large bathroom. Dan was welcoming and thankfully flexible when a change of plans caused us to leave several days early. A very nice stay.

I'm originally from Chicago and have lived in Portland for about eight years. I've always had a passion for travel and have been lucky enough to visit about 40 countries, most recently Vietnam, Cambodia and Taiwan. Closer to home, funky, big city neighborhoods are my favorite places to explore. The natural beauty and mild climate are what drew me to the Pacific NW, but I return often to Chicago where I maintain business interests.
