About this listing
Five star value in a location that can't be beat....
Located on the second floor of a century old home (completely remodeled in 2005) the accommodations include the following:
A nice sized bedroom with a sitting area, a dresser, a closet and gas stove/ fireplace. The sleigh bed is queen sized and has a pillow top mattress.
In a separate larger room, there is a lounge area with a very long down filled sectional couch that can be made into a bed. The room also has a new mini fridge, microwave oven, coffee machine, grinder, french press and electric kettle. There is a table with two chairs and a buffet with dishes and utensils.
Both rooms have vintage Douglas fir flooring.
The bathroom is large, has two sinks and a large walk in shower. (And a toilet of course!)
The bedroom and lounge area are connected by a small hallway. Each room has a door. The bathroom is accessed through the lounge. The space is entirely private as is the entrance.
There is cable tv, a dvd player and free wireless internet.
Can't be beat for access to downtown Portland, the Oregon Convention Center, and the eastside Belmont and Hawthorne neighborhoods. Portland's 28th street restaurant row is right around the corner, and three blocks away there is a Whole Foods and a very cool second run movie theater. Within a short walk there are at least a dozen top rated restaurants to suit every taste and pocketbook and beautiful Laurelhurst Park is about 1/2 mile away.
The number 19, 20, and 12 bus lines are all close by and will take you downtown and to the airport. If you are driving there is always on street parking nearby. There is an Enterprise car rental lot on Sandy approximately three blocks away and six zipcars within a mile.
Absolutely no smoking of any kind is allowed in the apartment. The entry door to the apartment has an electronic combination lock. I'll give you the combination before you arrive. Please make sure the door is locked before you leave and after you enter the house.
Fantastic location with a number of bus lines running right past, lots of restaurants, bars and interesting shops and overall a great and safe neighborhood. The apartment itself was a great space to relax and wind down after spending all day touring around Portland.
Dan was not around, but there was a combination lock for me to enter the unit. The layout of the space was a bit confusing as well as open, but I never felt like I didn't have privacy.
The neighborhood was very cute. This was my first trip to Portland so it was nice staying in a neighborhood outside of downtown. It made me explore other areas of the city and there were several bus lines nearby that made travel simple.
Dan was helpful, even though he was out of town. He also had someone on site to answer questions, etc.
It's a great location with good restaurants and a Whole Foods, all within walking distance. Portland was having a bit of a heat wave, so we were glad to have a bedroom with AC. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

The place was awesome in a really great neighborhood. We were there for a wedding at Opal 28 which was a 2 minute walk away. The Cuban restaurant which is also about a minute or 2 away was awesome. We didn't get to meet Dan as he was traveling but his friends that he left in charge were awesome. There are two separate spaces and this worked well for us as I slept in while my husband watched TV and I didn't have to try to sleep over the TV. We would definitely stay with Dan again!!!
The listing description was totally accurate. Dan covered all bases. It was clean and adorable, vintage and tons of space. I had complete privacy and was able to come and go as I pleased and needed. The entire upstairs is cool and large. Like staying in your own apartment for your stay. With tons of closet space and an entire dresser of drawers. Travel books and maps. Charming and vintage photos and art on the walls. Dan was great with communicating and getting back to me promptly. Had multiple suggestions of where to go and what to do and nearby grocery stores and coffee shops. I will stay here next time I come to Portland.
Great neighborhood and really close to the SE neighborhood and Division street. I ran to the pearl district one morning and back and the total run was about 6 miles or so. Great for a couple and a set of three, but I used the entire space for myself. :)
Dan's place is in a great neighbourhood, away from the hustle of the tourist traps. It gives an authentic sense of what it is like to live like a local! The bus downtown is just at the end of the street, and excellent restaurants and bars are just a walk away.
The upstairs area of Dan's place where we stayed was lovely and spacious; great to have a separate bedroom and living area, and the bathroom was huge. Being upstairs it is, however, very hot and stuffy; thankfully, the air conditioner in the bedroom, and the fan in the lounge area, gave respite from the heat.
Overall, a great little place to stay when visiting Portland.
We enjoyed our stay very much. The place was clean and comfortable, checking in was very easy. Great neighborhood as well. Thanks so much!

About the Host, Dan
I'm originally from Chicago and have lived in Portland for about eight years. I've always had a passion for travel and have been lucky enough to visit about 40 countries, most recently Vietnam, Cambodia and Taiwan. Closer to home, funky, big city neighborhoods are my favorite places to explore. The natural beauty and mild climate are what drew me to the Pacific NW, but I return often to Chicago where I maintain business interests.
