About This Listing
Five star value in a location that can't be beat....
Located on the second floor of a century old home (completely remodeled in 2005) the accommodations include the following:
A nice sized bedroom with a sitting area, a dresser, a closet and gas stove/ fireplace. The sleigh bed is queen sized and has a pillow top mattress.
In a separate larger room, there is a lounge area with a very long down filled sectional couch that can be made into a bed. The room also has a new mini fridge, microwave oven, coffee machine, grinder, french press and electric kettle. There is a table with two chairs and a buffet with dishes and utensils.
Both rooms have vintage Douglas fir flooring.
The bathroom is large, has two sinks and a large walk in shower. (And a toilet of course!)
The bedroom and lounge area are connected by a small hallway. Each room has a door. The bathroom is accessed through the lounge. The space is entirely private as is the entrance.
There is cable tv, a dvd player and free wireless internet.
Can't be beat for access to downtown Portland, the Oregon Convention Center, and the eastside Belmont and Hawthorne neighborhoods. Portland's 28th street restaurant row is right around the corner, and three blocks away there is a Whole Foods and a very cool second run movie theater. Within a short walk there are at least a dozen top rated restaurants to suit every taste and pocketbook and beautiful Laurelhurst Park is about 1/2 mile away.
The number 19, 20, and 12 bus lines are all close by and will take you downtown and to the airport. If you are driving there is always on street parking nearby. There is an Enterprise car rental lot on Sandy approximately three blocks away and six zipcars within a mile.
Absolutely no smoking of any kind is allowed in the apartment. The entry door to the apartment has an electronic combination lock. I'll give you the combination before you arrive. Please make sure the door is locked before you leave and after you enter the house.
From Jun 24 - Jul 31, 2015 the minimum stay is 4 nights.
This was my first Airbnb, and it made me a believer. The apartment was well worth it, and was an added bonus that it was in our favorite neighborhood in Portland. The whole place was very clean and well put together. It is much larger than in the pic and had plenty of space.
Dan was excellent. He's there for you when you need him, but otherwise leaves you to enjoy your stay. He was delightful in all our interactions. He set a very high bar for my first Airbnb experience.
I would highly recommend renting this space if you are looking to visit or stay in Portland.
The description was pretty accurate, however, I read it somewhat wrong. I thought it's be a separate apartment with privacy but it shared an entrance. Nevertheless, I did not feel unsafe or bothered in any way. Dan, the host, was very welcoming, the apartment and the bathroom were clean, the bed was just fantastically soft.
I could not have asked for a better location! 15 min from the airport by car and walking distance to nice restaurants. Very nice neighborhood.
We loved our experience at Dan's place! The location is awesome. Tucked in the neighborhood of NE Portland with a cute little park next door and a quick walk to pubs, good eats, and shops. Also, 30 minute or so walk to downtown or 10 minutes by car. The place was clean, simple, and comfortable. The bed was really comfy and bedroom included a little electric stove and a reading chair that looked out the window. The space was really quiet and Dan was very hospitable. We would definitely consider coming back on our next weekend in PDX.
Our experience was very enjoyable. The amount of space is beyond what we were expecting and the amount of accommodations was awesome. The house is very quiet and peaceful but is also in a great location, close to all sorts of eating and drinking establishments. The neighborhood is adorable and Dan was extremely pleasant. I would come back here in a heartbeat!
We had a great stay in Dans extra guest space! This location is perfect for getting a feel of a Portland neighborhood. It's VERY Close to all fun stuff on Gilsan, on to E Burnside and a 20ish minute walk to the shopping on Hawthorne. Dan is a very generous host and made us feel very welcome.
Dan was a lovely and gracious host. He welcomed me warmly and then completely respected my privacy. His space is clean, cozy, and has all the amenities one could want. The neighborhood is full of shops and restaurants, and close to public transportation. I would absolutely stay with Dan again on my next visit to Portland, which I hope is soon!

About the Host, Dan
I'm originally from Chicago and have lived in Portland for about eight years. I've always had a passion for travel and have been lucky enough to visit about 40 countries, most recently Vietnam, Cambodia and Taiwan. Closer to home, funky, big city neighborhoods are my favorite places to explore. The natural beauty and mild climate are what drew me to the Pacific NW, but I return often to Chicago where I maintain business interests.
