The space

The Beach House "Lili" is just 25 Meters away from the best beach of Koh Mak, Ao Suan Yai. The house has sea-view and two terraces. There is a little garden around the house and a shop is just 1 minute away. The beach house is complete furnished. The size is about 100m2 big and suits perfectly for a couple or a little family. If you like to be right at the beach and live in a comfortable house, this is the best deal you can get.
TV, DVD, fridge and other useful things are in the house. In the upstairs bed-room is A/C, as well in the first floor bed-room. The house does have a hot-water kettle and coffee/tea making facilities. From the beach-house you are just a few steps away from the beautiful sea/white sand beach and from there you can enjoy beautiful sunsets. The beach house has probably the best location on the island: right at the sand beach, between two resorts, 60 meters away from the Koh Mak Resort Pier and a shop in walking distance.
It is pretty easy to get to Koh Mak via private minibus or limo-service. You can also travel by public bus or you can also fly with Bangkok Air to Trat. We can help you with the transportation. Koh Mak is well-known for sea-food and traditional Thai-food. Koh Mak has about 20 resorts (with restaurants and there are also about 20 other restaurants on the island.
We are able to provide bedding and bath-towels, but we ask that guests bring their own beach-towels.
You also have access to the library of the Good Time Resort with a big selection of dvd's, books and please feel free to use our office space in the "library"
KOH MAK island is about 350 km South-East from Bangkok and located between the two bigger/larger islands of KOH CHANG and KOH KOOD.

Koh Mak is a relatively small island covering an area of 16sqkm.
It has far more tropical desert island feel to it than other islands nearby ( Koh Chang, Koh Kood) as no matter where you are you are never more than a few minutes from a palm fringed beach.
No wonder that the “Sunday Times” newspaper named Koh Mak as one of the its “World’s Top Secret Beaches in late 2006.
Away from the two main beaches on the northwest and northeast coasts, the scenery mainly compromises rubber and coconut plantations.
Most visitiors opt to see the island by foot, bicycle or on a rental motorbike – there are very few cars on the island as there are very few roads. The island has 24 hour electricity.
No matter where you stay -you are usally within walking or cycling distance of wherever you want to go.

Interaction with guests

We receive often questions like: "how will the weather be next month or next August"... sorry- we really don't know. But what we know is that the past years we had many hours of sunshine - even in rainy season. And normally rainy season is not as bad as some imagine (but it could be).

Beautiful beaches, cafe, bars and restaurants nearby. Also 52 islands around Koh Mak.

The house is conveniently located next to one of the main piers on the island (the one where the Bang Bao boat docks). There is also a restaurant, bar and mini market next to the house. Currently (Nov 16) there is construction going on between the house and the beach affecting the view and direct access to the beach.

We really enjoyed our stay at Ban Lilly, a very relaxing vacation on this small island that have not yet been too exploited by tourism. It's easy going, palmtrees and beaches. The house is charming and close to possibly the nicest beach on Koh Mak. The porch is amazing, we chilled there for hours. It's also close to a Minimart, a bar, a restaurant and a place where you can rent a motorbike to explore the island. A downside is that there's no pool, unless you go to Goodtime resort like a kilometer away. But the kind manager of Koh Mak Resort next doors let us use theirs, so it was OK. Two bedrooms and two double beds make this a great option for families like ours, or two couples. The bed on the downfloor bedroom is hard as rock though and we had some serious backpains after three weeks. The house wasn't cleaned after the previous guests, but that was sorted quite quickly after our arrival. But it should be noted that this is not a perfect stay if you're a neat freak. There are alot of cobwebs in the corners. There are termites eating the furniture and because of that we found new piles of sawdust to sweep up every day. But we didn't mind that much. It's a termite island, and they also a problem with sandflies who eat away on the tourists. The hard bed is what brings down the points from a five to a four. But we'd definitely come back. A beach house this big and with a kitchen is kinda rare.

This was our second stay at Yodying and Kerstin's house. We had a great stay. The house has THE BEST location of all houses on the island. It is very close to one of the best beaches. There is a bar and a couple of resorts close by, which is handy for a drink or bite. It was never very busy or noisy. The house is basic but comfortable and has its charm. It is good value for money. Nice place to experience the idyllic Koh Mak!

Yodying and Kerstin were absolutely adorable, my husband enjoyed playing tennis and ping pong with him, we were glad they were on the island at the same time as us. The Ban Lili house is very cute, beds are comfortable, the house is spacious, the only thing we didn't like is the smell in the bathroom, but really we didn't spend much time there so it s not a big deal. The house is right at the pier and the beach is very beautiful. Renting scooters is easy and fun and a nice way to go around the island, daily price 300 baht or 250 if you take it more than 3 days. We sometimes took the breakfast at the Good time resort, it s delicious and a wide variety of goodies!

The house is in a great spot, really close to the pier, a shop and a couple of restaurants and of course the stunning beach. The house itself is quite basic but has a lot of character. Unfortunately the neighbours are in the process of building some new holiday huts so there was loud construction work happening when we arrived. Yodying responded to our concerns extremely quickly and we moved to a villa at the Good Time resort. The resort manager was an absolute gem and really looked after us, he more than made up for the inconvenience of having to move. (The breakfast was delicious!).

Our stay on Koh Mak was wonderful. It was low season so very quiet and many places were closed. This didn't bother us though as we still found many places to eat and things to do. We travelled with our two kids and found plenty to do each day; swimming, kayaking, cycling around the island. We also took a trip to Koh Chang (although via Laem Ngob as it was low season). The house was great - right on the beach and next door to Koh Mak resort. It's definitely the best beach on the island. The house was big and comfortable although the beds were a little on the hard side. The bathroom and facilities were basic but clean and fine. There were lots of Mosquitos at the time so repellent is a must.

Hello, my name is Yodying,

We currently live with our son and daughter (10 and 12 years old) in Chang Mai, Thailand.

The island of Koh Mak is still very peaceful and has not been overwhelmed by tourists like other Thai islands. We wish to maintain this peace for our guests and give them a quiet and relaxing experience while still providing as many amenities as possible.

The guests that best enjoy Koh Mak and our properties are those that are looking for true tranquility. The beaches are beautiful and isolated, there are typically very few people on the island, and the beaches are always empty. There is plenty of time and peace to enjoy good food, do work if you wish at our open office space, and relax on the beach.

We look forward to welcoming you to Thailand and wish you a great time on Koh Mak. We are happy to assist you with your transportation to Koh Mak and to answer any other questions.

PS: We receive often questions like: "how will the weather be in August"... sorry- we really don't know. But what we know is that the past years we had many hours of sunshine - even in rainy season. And normally rainy season is not as bad as some imagine. From my experience, rainy season in Thailand is has more sun-shine days then summer in Berlin.

Kind regards,

Kerstin & Yodying
