The Space

The Beach House "Lili" is just 25 Meters away from the best beach of Koh Mak, Ao Suan Yai. The house has sea-view and two terraces. There is a little garden around the house and a shop is just 1 minute away. The beach house is complete furnished. The size is about 100m2 and suits perfectly for a couple or a little family. If you like to be right at the beach and live in a comfortable house, this is the best deal you can get.
TV, DVD, and other useful things are in the house. In the upstairs bed-room is A/C, as well in the first floor bed-room. The house does have a hot-water kettle and coffee/tea making facilities. From the beach-house you are just a few steps away from the beautiful sea/white sand beach and from there you can enjoy beautiful sunsets. The beach house has probably the best location on the island: right at the sand beach, between two resorts, 60 meters away from the Koh Mak Resort Pier and a shop in walking distance.
It is pretty easy to get to Koh Mak via private minibus or limo-service. You can also travel by public bus or you can also fly with Bangkok Air to Trat. We can help you with the transportation. Koh Mak is well-known for sea-food and traditional Thai-food. Koh Mak has about 20 resorts (with restaurants and there are also about 20 other restaurants on the island.
We are able to provide bedding and bath-towels, but we ask that guests bring their own beach-towels.
You also have access to the library of the Good Time Resort with a big selection of dvd's, books and please feel free to use our office space in the "library"
For free Wifi in the house, please contact us 5 days in advance to set up the service.
FAQ:
- Easy to get from Bangkok to Koh MaK Island: You can fly with Bangkok Airways in just 45 Minutes, or we organize for you a pick-up serice with a private limo (about 3800 Baht) and also we can organize the transfer by boat for you...
-Bank/Money:
There are no banks and no ATM's on Koh Mak. Checks are not accepted. It is almost impossible to exchange currencies. Please bring Thai Baht with you.
-Several restaurants in walking distance (100 to 350 meters)
-Two sand beaches are just 250 meters away
-Activities:
Activities include scuba diving and snorkeling – there are two dive shops on the island. You can enjoy a traditional Thai massage on the beach or at the Good Time Resort, visit the Koh Mak Museum and discover the history of the island, or learn Thai cooking with "Smile Cooking School". Boats are easily hired to take you to some of the many other unspoiled islands nearby. In the high season, there is a regular speedboat service to the neighbouring island of Koh Chang, the second biggest in Thailand.
-Please ask for long stay prices (from May to November).
The next airport is in Trat and you can fly from Bangkok with Bangkok Air in just 45 minutes (about 2.500 Baht). It is also possible to hire a private limo (about 4.000 Baht, 3,5 hours) or you can travel with a public bus for just 250 Baht (5-6 hours). We are happy to assist you with the transport to Koh Mak (we can not book the airplane for you). On Koh Mak our staff will pick you up, free of charge. Every 4-5 days our maids clean the house for you and changes the bed-sheets. Please bring your own beach-towels. Towels
for the bath-rooms are provided.
Koh Mak is a relatively small island covering an area of 16sqkm.
It has far more tropical desert island feel to it than other islands nearby ( Koh Chang, Koh Kood) as no matter where you are you are never more than a few minutes from a palm fringed beach.
No wonder that the “Sunday Times” newspaper named Koh Mak as one of the its “World’s Top Secret Beaches in late 2006.
Away from the two main beaches on the northwest and northeast coasts, the scenery mainly compromises rubber and coconut plantations.
Most visitiors opt to see the island by foot, bicycle or on a rental motorbike – there are very few cars on the island as there are very few roads. The island has 24 hour electricity.
No matter where you stay -you are usally within walking or cycling distance of wherever you want to go.

Weather:
June-September
The south-west monsoon usually blows in from the Indian Ocean from June-September, but it can sometimes start early in May. The intensity and duration varies from year to year, but in Thailand it is the Andaman Coast (Phuket, Krabi etc.) that feels the effects the most. In simplistic terms, the heat of March-May brings about a significant difference between land and sea temperatures. This causes hot air to rise creating low pressure which in turn causes the monsoon wind to blow towards land. As the wind blows it attracts moisture from over the oceans which may fall as rainfall on the mainland. Coming in from a south-westerly direction, it is the Andaman Coast of Thailand which is hit the hardest. Downpours can be torrential and may be accompanied by gusty winds and high waves. Some boat services are temporarily suspended during May-October on the Andaman Coast, but it should be noted that it doesn’t rain all day, every day. There is still plenty of sunshine and temperatures remain high.
Although the period from June-September sees more rain on the Andaman Coast, the Gulf Coast (Ko Samui, Ko Pha Ngan etc.) and the East Coast (Pattaya, Ko Chang etc.) don’t escape completely, but there is still less rainfall here than the Andaman Coast.

Guest Access

Library, tropical park, small pool and restaurant a few hundred meters away.

Interaction with Guests

We receive often questions like: "how will the weather be next month or next August"... sorry- we really don't know. But what we know is that the past years we had many hours of sunshine - even in rainy season. And normally rainy season is not as bad as some imagine (but it could be).

The Neighborhood

Beautiful beaches and restaurants nearby. Also 52 islands around Koh Mak.

Getting around

You can rant a motorbike, bicycle or walk to most important places on Koh Mak.

Other Things to Note

The last boat to Koh Mak depart at 16.00 from Laem Ngop.
If you wish, we certainly help you to organize a private pick-up service with a limousine (1-3 persons = 4.000 Baht) or minibus (1-5 persons =5.000 Baht). The driver pick you up at 10.30 at the hotel or airport.

  • We had a lovely time at the beach house with our 2 children. beautiful place and location. Yodying was the perfect host. He met us on arrival and was very helpful throughout our stay. The beach house is lovely and so is the beach it is on. Its also great having the option of using the Good time resort facilities for free( 5 mins away),there is a beautiful pool there in lovely surroundings. Highly recommend the whole stay. Will definitely be going back.

  • The beach house was a great experience for me and my friends. Yoding really answered all of our questions really quick which made us feel safe.

The only thing we missed was a possibility to cook, all and all good! Koh mak is truly paradise and very quiet, just what we wanted. We recommend the cooking school! Great experience. Snorkelling is not
Great but we heard the diving is lots better.

  • Nice and relaxing holidays at the lovely Koh Mak. The house was clean and nice, located close to Koh Mak Resort where there is small store and restaurant. But for food I will rather recommend to walk 5 minutes along the beach, to Sevana Resort. which has better food for the same price.

Unfortunately Yodying was travelling so we didn't have the chance to meet him, but his manager at Good Time Resort, Mr. Peak, was very helpful and fixed whatever we asked him about.

At Koh Mak Resort you can rent a kajak (or even a windsurfing board). Do NOT miss to visit the amazing Koh Kham island, it taked 15 minutes i kajak.

Koh Mak is a small island. I recommend renting a motor cycle (250 bath/day) or a bicycle and look around.

  • What a fantastic vacation! We loved Koh Mak and are already planning to return next year. The Beach House was perfect for a family of four. Yodying and Kerstin we're very helpful and responsive to our questions. Thank you!

  • Stylish and clean house in good place.

  • This turned out to be one of the highlights of our holidays..
We wanted a beach house and that's just what we got..
The house was lovely, clean and well equipped, there was easily enough space for four people but as there was just two of us we felt spoilt. This is the perfect place to relax and recuperate and we will return next time we visit the islands...

  • Beautiful place right by the beach. A little isolated in low season. But thanks to Nick (from Koh Mak resort) and Susana (from Good time) all was fine. We had a great time and the island is a wonderful place to discover and stay away from big crowd. Definitely need a scooter, which is the best way to go around the island.

  • 3 of us stayed 6 nights at baan lily on ko mak island. From the moment we stepped foot on the island we were greeted warmly. Our house was 1 of many amazing houses of good time resort. Baan lily was right on the best beach of the island. The good time staff went out of there way to make sure we were well looked after.
Hopefully we return to ko mak and we will be contacting yodying to stay at one their places again.

  • Spend a couple of very nice days at Koh Mak with Yodying as a guide. Very nice place, very quiet. We all enjoyed our stay.

  • The owner of Lili Beach House and his family are great hosts - friendly and helpful. The beach house is directly on the beach, just a minute's walk from the water. There are some trees between the house and the beach, but you can see views of the ocean from the upper floor.

The house is spacious, with a big, open front porch and large interior rooms. Near the house, just up the beach a little way, is the Koh Mak resort, with a good restaurant. Yodying's own resort, Good Time, is a short distance away, with it's own nice restaurant and a pleasant, clean pool to swim in.

The front porch of the guest house has a (email hidden) plate, a sink and dishes. If you want to prepare some of your own meals at the beach house, you might want to bring a little bit of cooking supplies with you.

The water at the beach is a very pleasant temperature and beautifully clear most of the time. It got a little murky when wind churned it up, but was still clean and comfortable to swim in. We were there during the rainy season, but had some sunny weather. During the high season, I imagine the water will be clear nearly all the time.

Koh Mak is a very quiet, restful place. You'll enjoy it if you want a laid-back, close-to-the beach experience. We did!

Most of the days we spent we had no trouble with sand flies, but toward the end of our time the weather got sunny after some days of clouds and scattered rain. They must have hatched at that point, and we got some itchy bites. I recommend that you read a bit about sand flies and make sure you know how to protect yourself from them.

    Enjoy!

Good Time Resort Koh Mak
About
Hello, my name is Yodying, For the last seven years, my wife Kerstin and I managed the Good Time Resort on Koh Mak island in Thailand. We currently live with our son and daughter (8 and 10 years old) in Chang Mai, but visit the resort frequently. The island of Koh Mak is still very peaceful and has not been overwhelmed by tourists like other Thai islands. We wish to maintain this peace for our guests and give them a quiet and relaxing experience while still providing as many amenities as possible. The guests that best enjoy Koh Mak and our properties are those that are looking for true tranquility. The beaches are beautiful and isolated, there are typically very few people on the island, and there are no loud bars. There is plenty of time and peace to enjoy good food, do work if you wish, and relax on the beach. We look forward to welcoming you to Thailand and wish you a great time on Koh Mak. We are happy to assist you with your transportation to Koh Mak and to answer any other questions you might (website hidden): We receive often questions like: "how will the weather be next month or next August"... sorry- we really don't know. But what we know is that the past years we had many hours of sunshine - even in rainy season. And normally rainy season is not as bad as some imagine (but it could be). Kind regards, Kerstin & Yodying
