We had a delightful stay! Thank you, Marlene and Makoto, for your kindness and attention to detail. From the artistic fresh flower arrangements to a comfy bed, the apartment exceeded expectations. It was spotless, bright, and peaceful. Views from nearly every window brought the outdoors in. During our stay, we enjoyed passionflowers at the kitchen window, canary-yellow cannas outside the dining area, and pastel roses in the front garden. And that was only the beginning of a remarkable diversity of plantings—it’s a garden-lover’s delight. Hope to stay again!
We had a lovely stay in this well presented and maintained apartment with beautiful gardens. We were given a thorough welcome and tour of the property on arrival and were made to feel at home. Marlene was on hand with any questions we had and was quick to communicate prior to arrival. The apartment itself had all the facilities one would need with a fully equipped kitchen, etc. The location was quiet yet still close enough to the hustle and bustle of downtown and local amenities. I would happily recommend this property and would return in an instant!
We stayed with Marlene while on a weekend business trip. Hands down, one of the nicest and most inviting places we've ever stayed, with two of the most generous people you're likely to ever meet. Upon our arrival, Marlene and her husband gave us a grand tour of the house and its incredible gardens. The entire cottage is swathed in fruit trees, flowers, and other fun plants. We were lucky enough to get to try some of the lemons and avocados grown right outside our window (which were delicious, by the way). And if the wonderful gardens weren't enough, there's two watermelon-loving turtles roaming around that really make the place feel comfortable.
The house was very comfortable, with a great bed, wonderful couch and sitting room, in additional to a full kitchen. There was nothing we needed that wasn't already in the house. There was even some food in the fridge, which was a great surprise for folks coming in on the late side. Check-in and check-out were both incredibly easy. The neighborhood is very conveniently located and is quiet, safe, and great for runners. It's also very close to a major thoroughfare with all the stores you could need, like a Trader Joe's, etc.
Overall, wonderful experience. Would recommend to anyone looking for a quiet place to stay in busy LA.
Lovely experience with a relaxing garden, kind and thoughtful hosts, and sweet pets! The apt was well-situated with street parking, and our hosts had everything ready and planned out in advance-- from fresh linens and beach towels to a kitchen stocked with pots and pans and coffee. The place is cozy, clean, and bright-- just what we needed to unwind for a few days before returning home.
We had a fantastic stay at Marlene's home! We loved the garden and animals, especially George the Tortoise.
We have such a wonderful time in this amazing one-bed apartment. Not to mention the lovely garden. It is close to shops, cafes, and places to eat. it has everything you need, plus many more. And the hosts were extremely welcoming and warm. And they have a Turtle! George. We loved him. Wish we could stay longer. Much longer....
This was our first (website hidden) experience. What a wonderful experience it was. Marlene greeted us, gave us a tour of the gardens and introduced us to George. We'll be back. John & Beverly
