Our Gentle Sparkler has 5 BRs and is
comfortable, quirky, generous...
Excellent for families, reunions, wedding people and weekend wine- tasting friends with fully equipped happy eat-in kitchen, elegant details, 2.5 baths, wide front porch
Classy old North Fork house has been on this small-town main road since 1900. Large living room, dining table, nooks, architectural eccentricities with original floors and fittings. The cheery well equipped kitchen is perfect for packing picnics and cooking projects.
Five bedrooms ; 3 doubles and 2 singles upstairs- one of these is a convertable study with trundle daybed. Also, Q sized sofa bed, portable Q & T air beds, plus kids cot make for flexible arrangements. 2.5 baths.
Trouble with climbing stairs? Our bath downstairs has, a walk-in/wheel-in European style shower. No obstructing ledges to step over. This bathroom is next to the Libray which closes off for en-suite privacy.
We also have a portable wheel chair ramp which we'd be happy to set up for you.
Our eclectic style attracts writers, artists, readers and other curious originals.Browsing in the large library will remind you of days before (website hidden)... but naturally there's wireless internet.
Families have lived here continuously for over 100 years- it is not a museum, we'd like you to feel at home. The old-fashioned high ceilings make central air improbable, so the 4 large bedrooms upstairs have window units as does the downstairs library ..elsewhere, fans and air-flow make us the breeziest house on the block.
Walking distance to village shops and NYC train/ bus. Farmstands, wineries, beaches- all close and friendly.
Don't forget the ferries- Orient Point and New London,Greenport-Shelter Island-Sag Harbor.
whole house and yard are yours
Interaction with Guests
I will be there to greet you and give you a key and am available if there are questions.
We are on the edge of a small village, tree lined streets, white churches, bikes, and local parades. Walking distance to market, post office, transportation, library, cafes and a few quiet restaurants. Farm stands, fish market, yard sales and beaches.
Plenty of parking in driveway behind house- its nice to have a car , but many city dwellers come without--they take the bus or train - (I can collect you- the stop is less than 1/4 mile) and bring or rent bicycles...
Most reasonable requests entertained.
...sorry no pets. You can smoke on the porch.
It is a fairly quiet neighborhood after 10-- no parties please without advanced notice and permission from the owner.
You'll be asked for a headcount/guestlist before arrival. It is sometimes possible to add more people, but not automatically- it depends on the situation and the plumbing.
We find its a good idea wherever possible for you to choose someone in your group to act as point contact especially if the logistics are complex. They can be responsible for any-all security deposits/exchanges of information/arrival and departure time confirmations-/ special requests/problems etc.
We had a lovely time! This house is amazing and we looked spending the weekend.
The ink hotel is a beautiful charming home, a perfect place to escape to from the hectic pace of the city. The house is an artist’s retreat, a reader’s paradise, and a wonderful place to just relax. We were a party of 9 adults that (email hidden) hotel as part of a weekend wedding event. The house is ample, airy, clean and charming. The front porch and backyard are an inviting place to have a nice time with the family and friends.
Ellen has put much thought into how to make her guests comfortable during their stay. She is a lovely person and a delight to communicate with and finally meet in person. Checking in and out was a breeze. We accidentally left some small items behind and Ellen was kind enough to mail them back to us.
Our (email hidden) hotel was too brief. This is a place that has stayed with me and one that I will definitely come back to soon. Thank you Ellen!
Wonderful (email hidden) Hotel in July. Quiet, conducive to readers and thinkers of all ages. Plenty of space to roam, sleep and congregate. Agreeable and helpful host. Central location for the North Fork. Would return happily.
Our trip to the Ink Hotel was wonderful!!! A beautiful, warm and comfortable home. My friends and I had the most relaxing and fun weekend. The house is fully stocked with everything you need, millions of books in every room, an awesome backyard perfect for barbecuing and the fully equipped kitchen is perfect. We rented bikes, went wine tasting, checked out a few of the beaches nearby, Southold is awesome. Ellen was so kind and helpful, available at a moment's notice but still respected our privacy. We will definitely be back!!!
We stayed in a group of 9 as a part a pre-wedding weekend, and the ink hotel was a terrific place for us to stay. The home is absolutely charming, with such character, artistic flair and unique touches in every room and corner.
Though the weekend was particularly hot (a part of the NYC heatwave in July), the ink hotel was perfectly comfortable to stay at and met all of our respective needs. Ellen herself is a delightful person, and she was a joy to correspond with and later meet in person.
We are grateful to have stayed at the beautiful ink hotel, and we hope to be back! Thank you always, Ellen!
