  • We loved our stay! We were lucky enough to spend a full week staying in this unit and found the apartment itself extremely pleasant, furnished beautifully and filled with convenient amenities. We loved the natural light, quaint bathroom, comfortable and spacious living room and beautiful front porch area especially. Checking in and out was a breeze! I also want to add that parking was remarkably easy to find and it's a fabulous neighborhood! Highly recommend. Thanks for everything, Rob!

  • This was a great place to stay! I will definitely come back here. The apartment was verry clean and had lots of great amenities. The neighborhood was in walking distance to downtown and a ton of great stuff in SE (Buckman/Laurelhurst/Belmont/Hawthorne). Rob was very responsive and made checking/in out super easy and efficient. This particular apartment is a little dark if you wanted to spend time hanging out there during the day. However, the yard and front porch made up for that.

  • Rob was an excellent host. The place was clean and well stocked. He was extremely friendly and made some great recommendations for brunch. The house is in a fun and vibrant neighborhood and only a short bus ride to dt. I would definitely come back.

  • We loved out stay at Rob's place in Portland. It was perfect for the 2 of us - in a beautiful neighborhood with an outstanding coffee shop just 2 blocks away. Easy access, everything was as described with a nice note & a bottle of wine to welcome us. Thanks for everything!

  • Upon arriving to Rob's place, I was taken aback by how peaceful and comforting a feel it had. With plenty of natural light through the large windows and the updated amenities in the kitchen and bathroom, we found it very easy to relax and enjoy our time in Portland. It is on a quiet street, but in a great neighborhood close to many restaurants and bars, and the giant backyard with the hot tub and the fire pit definitely make Rob's victorian a Real find. While it is a beautifully well-kept building, I think it is important to keep in mind that it was built pre-1900, making "quiet time" a very appropriate observance, as you could easily disturb other guests by being rowdy. Rob was a great host, attentive and obliging. We arrived to a bottle of wine and a friendly note. I will surely be back for future Portland visits.

  • We really enjoyed our stay in Portland! The Ash property is in an excellent location, close to buses downtown, within walking distance of a number of the great areas with restaurants and cool shops. Rob is a gracious host! He was particularly helpful with finding us a great alternative for bike rentals and ideas about which areas we might want to explore. If you are comfortable on a bike, it is really a great way to see large areas of Portland in a short time. Portland is very bike friendly! The hot tub at Rob's is a great way to wind down after a long bike ride and after realizing we love Jazz, Rob put the music on the outdoor speakers when he saw us arrive and turned the yard lights on when we were there in the evening. It was a lovely little piece of paradise for us sun or rain (we got both)! The suite is very comfortable and everything very functional. We didn't use the kitchen much as the food options in Portland are varied and exciting and we wanted to sample as much as possible but it was very clean and had everything you would need. We felt at home and relaxed here which was just what we were looking for. Thank you Rob for everything!!!

retired psychotherapist
I've recently retired my practice of many years as a psychotherapist and am opening this new chapter 1) running my 1899 Victorian Farmhouse Fourplex as a guesthouse for travelers and visitors and 2) exploring the intercoastal waters of Puget Sound, Southern BC and Vancouver Island via sailboat. I've sailed the last two summers into what I call the Tropical Alpine waters of Desolation Sound. I will be going again this summer as well. I love jazz (I bang out a decent amateur clarinet), water, people, reading, comedy, salmon, red wine and Amy Goodman and the fine (email hidden). I enjoy meeting thoughtful, mindful, playful, friendly people from all over. As a host I'm fun, casual, curious about everything, capable as a landlord. I've lived in this neighborhood over 20 years and can help you get your bearings. When I travel I prefer bouncing aimlessly towards various convergence points with friends usually to sail or ski.
