We had booked a room for a night from the 1st of Jan. As we landed into Colombo on the night of the 31st, our plan was to celebrate NYE first and then check in. I had specifically emailed the host keeping her informed that we'll be checking in at around 3am on the 1st to which she had no problem at all. The nightmare started at 2am. I tried calling her several times to get directions as we were just not able to find the place. No answer. After an hour and a half of going round in circles while we were exhausted, we found the place with much difficulty. We rang the door bell, the guy taking care of the place was least apologetic and 'homely' to say the least. We were welcomed by "Just sit and wait. Need to call my madam and inquire. There was no answer when he called her too. After another 20 minutes of waiting at the entrance, she finally answered his call. And lo behold, our room that we had reserved was occupied by another guest !! At that point, we just wanted to sleep so we were shown in to the lower category room. I had a word with her finally and she was least apologetic for the ordeal that we'd gone thro for the last couple of hours. She substantiated that the regular check in time was around 1pm. Then why did she say okay to the email I had sent that I'll be checking in at 3am???
The toilet in the bathroom was broken and every time we flushed, water would seep out from the bottom. The tub was so narrow that we lost balance several times when showering. The bed was okay, no issues with that.
The morning after, after having requested to meet her, she was nowhere to be seen. We were greeted by her husband who took care of us. He helped with booking our taxi for the rest of our trip and where to get the prepaid SIM.
Overall, I feel our experience at the Colpetty house was disastrous as the host had not communicated with us properly and gave us wrong information that we could check in at 3am. And not answering her phone was just not acceptable. And this was a dampener to the start of our trip and moreover, our first experience with AirBnB.
We stayed at Colpetty house for three nights. It was very comfortable and the location was very convenient. Our hosts were pleasant and made an effort to advise us about things to do and places to eat.
We stayed at Colpetty house for 3 nights, and enjoyed the most of lovely moments in a huge opened balcony(bigger than the room) for watching sunsets and so on. Even though it is in the very centre of the city, the place is very quite and clam, and of course, a perfect location! The host, Anushika is very kind and friendly. We would love to come back again for our next visit to Colombo.
Anu (and Romma) were great hosts. They were so helpful, especially in times of need and would recommend them to all. The rooms were really nice and comfortable and the location was great. I hope to be back!
I stayed in the Sky Room , which was comfortable with A/C - and a great view over the roof tops of Colombo. The location was perfect.
We arrived at 6.30 in Colombo and were pleasantly supprised that we could already reach Anu.
We booked the appartment for the following night, but is we could already enter the room very early the previous morning.
We were welcomed with great charm and warmth and lots of tips for Colmobo and for the rest of the Island.
the appartment was stunning and we enjoyed the beautiful views.
We were with three adults. An extra bed was pleased for the third person.
I can recommend this place to anybody arriving in Sri Lanka, or looking for a place for the last few nights in Colombo.

About the Host, Anushika
We are every bit a Sri Lankan family ( Me, my husband, Romma and our 3 amazing kids) based predominantly in Colombo - and on occasion (not as often as we would like) make it to our properties in Ahangama and Nilaveli. So for those of you booking Ahangama House or Nilaveli House - please be informed that we are not based at either of these properties - but our respective caretakers will take good care of you.
We love to travel this Island, soaking in the diversity, exploring and winding down. We feel that the most amazing two things about sunny Sri Lanka is the variety of options for any traveller - all packed into this tiny little island, AND of course the Sri Lankan people.
We look forward to being your hosts and invite you to come stay in our home and experience true Sri Lankan hospitality. However, due to our busy work schedule and shuttling back and forth with our kids, we may not always have the opportunity to meet with our guests - but our loyal and warm caretakers will always be around, ready to see to their every need.
For any of you who has a bit of spare time to read a little bit about ourselves - here goes. We have had the good fortune of travelling in many continents. I grew up hopping from country to country accompanying my dad, who served in the Sri Lankan Foreign Service and every time I did, I couldn't wait to come back home and watch through the shutters as our plane landed in the midst of lush green paddy fields and coconut trees, surrounded by pristine teal waters of the Indian Ocean.
My husband, an electrical engineer by training and a leisure traveller/ entrepreneur through experience, chose to come back home to live in Sri Lanka, after studying and working for over 8 years in USA and working extensively in the Asia Pacific Region.
Again, we invite you and welcome you to our Island and to our home!!
