Interaction with Guests
I stop in almost daily to check on the property. Guests can always reach me otherwise by phone, email, or asking the onsite caretaker to contact me.
Santa Teresa is noted as one of the most beautiful beaches in central America and is ideal for both beginner and advanced surfers. There are many surf schools and also hidden surf spots still left uncrowded.
With many ethnicities settling here, there is excellent cuisine from Italian, Japanese, Argentina, Spanish, and French. We are located beside 2 typical Costa Rican restaurants and just down the road from the super market.
Buses are available in town. Rent a cars are not needed but can be helpful for getting here and about. Lots of people just rent bikes or atvs.
We look for mellow guests here in search of good surf, relaxing beaches and a tropical setting. We ask our guests to be respectful of the others renting in the other villas, be eco friendly, and always ask for advice if you like. We are here to help!!!
We stayed in Villa Carambola for only one night but wish we could have stayed longer.
The villa has a good location, close to the beach, stores and restaurants. It is in its own private courtyard so it feels very safe and quiet. The villa also has a very good standard and the outdoor area is perfect for a lazy breakfast.
Because of our short stay we only met Greg briefly but he was friendly and made sure we were happy with our stay.
If you are like us and do a proper research b4 making a reservation read this:
This is by far the best place to stay in Santa Teresa. Period.
It's safe, genuine and you get privacy without having to settle miles away from all the fun.
Whether you want to eat out or cook your own food you can do both. Close to everything you need and a well equipped kitchen. It was clean (like really, if you like spotlessness and some level of freshness when traveling you will enjoy this) and the houses where in mint condition. Even my super germophobic sister-in-law would give this place her blessing!
But the real reason why it's a good place to stay is the owners!
Often the hotels, BnB Hosts etc recommend you to do this and that. You never know if the advices are legit or not. E.g. when the restaurant that was so highly spoked of turned out to be a not so cool joint owned by the cousin of the recommender. In Greg's case he's genuinely interested in you having a great time. His advises are solid and based on experience, not bribes.
We had some of our best experiences in Costa Rica entirely due to Greg's help! Just to give you an example of to what extent he cares about his guests:
I was running low on 35mm film for my camera. I had been looking for about a week in various parts of costa rica without any luck. Greg heard about my problem and immediately posted on different(website hidden)groups and called to some of his photographer friends. I didn't even ask him to do anything.
Chino and his family (the caretakers of the property) were awesome. They helped with everything and we're amazing in so many ways! They we're always there when needed without being noticed.
One day when we where at the beach Chino washed our car without us knowing it. When asking him why the car looked so clean he almost apologized for not asking first - it was like having a second dad on our trip :-)
And yes, Luna the dog is as awesome as everyone describe. We still talk about her and we honestly miss her! If you don't like dogs, she will not be in your way, she's not one of those clingy ones :-)
I hope that you who read this will have the same wonderful memories of Santa Teresa as we do. A good place to rest you head is a good start.
This goes without saying but we never had any problems with reservations, payment etc. They are good at communicating with you prior your stay and internet and A/C worked flawlessly.
Decided last minute to check out Santa Teresa while on our trip to Costa Rica, and so glad that we did! Stayed in the Villa Carambola at Villas Solar and Greg was very accommodating and the place was exactly what we needed. Lazy days napping in the hammock on the front porch, great surf lessons from Ryan at 360 Surf Shop across the street, delicious breakfast from Zwart Cafe, and of course our daily visits from Luna the sweetest little dog ever...... Santa Teresa was absolute paradise! So much, in fact, that we extended our stay at Villas Solar two more days (a total of 7 days) just to soak it all in. The villa was located in a great part of town, close to the best beach for surfing and enjoying beautiful sunsets, had all the amenities needed in the kitchen for cooking, a comfy bed, and a great A/C that cooled the entire place down in less than 5 minutes. Chino and Elisa, the property managers, were always available to help with anything we needed and changed the sheets and towels often (a great thing to have when the sand builds up so easily!) Thank you Greg for all your help and knowledgable information about the area, we look forward to coming back to visit and telling all our friends and family about our amazing stay in Santa Teresa!

Such a great place that we extended our stay (see previous review for more info)
The villa was a great base to enjoy Santa Teresa! Extremely well maintained and comfortable. It's secluded just off the main road so you have a great sense of privacy, but also have easy access to the beach and all the dining options nearby. Looking forward to staying here again the next time we go! Thanks for being a great host Greg!

I am a die hard surfer, born and raised in New York and moved to San Diego after college. i found Santa Teresa in 1998 and fell in love. The waves are excellent, the people are amazing, and the tropical setting is one of the most beautiful in the world. cant see myself living anywhere else!!!
