Interaction with Guests
We will do our best to help you to organize your venue in Arles. We're both working the whole day but we love to take some time with our guests in the evening. Obviously, we're available anytime if you have any question or request.
Arles is best known for its Antique Roman heritage, giving it's small streets a picturesque and Provence feeling among the main Roman architectural monuments the city has conserved (in rather good conditions).
Our home is located in the heart of the city center. It is a quiet and friendly street (where you'll most probably see a cat or two sitting on a window ledge...) a step away from the roman Amphitheater and a five minute walk from town hall.
In our neck of the woods you'll find a nice Italian restaurant around the corner, a few secondhand shops, small bakeries, cafés, chocolate/coffee shops as well as high end clothing or wine shops.
The weekly street market (food/clothes...) in Arles is the largest in the region along with Aix-en-Provence, and is held on Saturday mornings. A smaller version is held on Wednesdays.
From a point of view located near the amphitheater, you can look out on the most western part of the Alpilles mountainous range, that extends roughly 25-30km from the Rhône to the Durance valley. Only a 15 minute drive from town, the Alpilles boast of pretty villages, scenic routes in beautiful landscapes, and trails you can hike or bike on.
Vincent van Gogh often painted the Alpilles and spent some time in Arles before passing away. His passage in Arles has left humanity with some of his most appreciated works. The Foundation Van Gogh is due to re-open in their new facilities in April 2014.
Last but not least, Arles was for the Romans and still is a strategic place to live in, as it is the capital of the Camargue. With it's Delta and it's Regional Natural Park (salt marsh, wetlands, horses, flamingos...) the Camargue is a must see for bird lovers.
Arles' location makes it a 25 minute drive to Nîmes,
35 minutes to Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer,
40 minutes to Avignon,
55 minute drive to either Aix-en-provence, Marseille, Marseille Airport or Montpellier.
Paris is roughly 3h30 minutes by train.
Our home is within 10 minutes walking distance from the train station.
Make yourself at home!
We're sorry but we don't accept pets.
The whole house is a non smoking place, thank you!
