If you have any question, I will be delighted to assist you in planning your stay in Milan and do my best to make you feel comfortable in your Milanese home.
We try to be as flexible as possible with check in and check out times. However, if we have same day check out and check in, we will ask you to check out by 11.00am. We can keep your luggage in a safe place, ie at my brother's flat, which is three minutes walking distance from the flat and you can arrange with him a mutually convenient time to collect if before you leave Milan.
There is a Wi-Fi (Fastweb) system active in the flat. The use of the internet is unlimited and free. I do not take any responsibility for any of the contents downloaded by my guests during their stay.
Where do you empty any rubbish? For organic waste there is a communal collection room with bins downstairs, where you can bring plastic sacks: when you exit the lift, there is a black door just in front of you on the opposite side. We try to be good citizens and recycle: for paper and glass there are separate dustbins downstairs: make a left in the courtyard after exiting the lift and you will see them there.
If you want to use dishwasher and washing machine, please don't do it simultaneously as the power switch might go off.
On the shelves there are guides of Milan. They are at your disposal during your stay in the flat. Please, leave them on the shelves for future guests. Please feel free to use and take with you the photocopies which you will find on the table: we made them for you!
There is food (butter, milk, bread, jam) at your disposal in the fridge and in the cupboard next to it. Please, help yourself to anything you like and no need to replace anything. Cutlery and crockery are all there for you to use.
We thank you to not put anything into the toilet. It is very important to mantain the drainage system. A bin is at your disposal. Thank you for understanding.
No smoking is allowed and, please, no pets.
Hosting a party is not part of the agreement.
If you travel by car, there is a car park 2 mins walking distance from the flat (in viale Gorizia 17). It costs 15 euros a day and 2 euros per hour. It is open 24hrs a day. It is difficult to find a park near the flat, expecially during the weekend.
My grocery shopping.
Carrefour. It is just round the corner in via Vigevano. Go there for all the basics.
Butcher. If you would like to eat very good meat, you have to go to Macelleria Masseroni in via Corsico. Go to via Vigevano and cross the road. It is the best meat in the area. Try also their prosciutto crudo, bresaola and salame.
Buying wine. Oh! There are SO many places where you can buy wine in the Navigli area. There are two where I shop and which I recommend for the professional advice you can get and the quality of the service. You will find some more details at home.
Cakes and sweets. Definitely go to Cucchi in corso Genova, the main road to the Duomo. Very good homemade cakes and all the little biscuits are great.
The market. In viale Papiniano, a few steps from via Mortara, every Tuesday morning and every Saturday morning there is the market in the street. You will find clothes and fruits and vegetables.
Your via Mortara - let me have your feedback!
I would very much appreciate your comments and suggestions. Please let me have your feedback on the restaurants and any other trip or shop you have discovered during your stay. I am always curious to know and find out about new things to do. Please let me have your feedback on the flat and let me have your suggestion in order to improve in the future. Please take a minute to write down your feedback. Thank you!!!
For any kind of problem, please contact myself at (phone number hidden) or Anna (phone number hidden). Anna is my brother's wife. She will most likely be the one who will help you with checking in, give you keys and show you the flat.
I don't know how many times I have lived in Aurora's flat. It's because this flat is the best flat nearby. The area is unbelievably convenient for transportation and suppers. As usual, the owner will take care everything for you. It's always my top choice ever.
Aurora, as used to be, is a wonderful owner. Whatever I have anything I need, she will immediately response and guarantees my trip comfortable and satisfied. The flat is perfect at all time with welcoming drinks and foods for me. The location is extremely convenient to take taxi, metro and tram. Supermarket and many restaurants are all nearby. This is the reason I stayed here for the 4th time.
Stevens, thank you for staying with us and for being a wonderful guest. You have left the apartment in perfect conditions and have been reliable and pleasant to deal with. We look forward to having you again in via Mortara upon your next visit to Milan. All the best. Aurora
This is not the first time I lived here. As usual, the landlord still prepared everything well and ready to provide all help at all time if need. I came again because this flat is still my top choice in location and comfort. I will give this flat is 5 stars.
This is absolutely one of the best apartment. The place is neat and tidy. The cooking and washing facilities are almost new. The place is very close to canal where has so many restaurants and bar around. It's definitely a great place to stay for holiday. It also locates near metro station and taxi station by taking 3 minute walk. Then, you can go the shopping center and train station easily. The landlord also provides many welcome foods for you. It is absolutely my best choice to stay if I come to Milan again.
Aurora's place was the third I stayed in via Airbnb and the best one for now (sorry former hosts). The location was perfect (I studied in Milan so knew where to go) in Navigli close to the metro, the apartment is huge and well maintained, cute bathroom, and everything is taken care of. The first days I was alone in the flat and didn't even have to leave the flat for dinner. Everything was foreseen. Only minus point I can think of is the lack of airco in summer months, but I did manage without. Next time I come to Milan, I will look for Aurora's place again. Thanks!
Everything nice and easy. I have booked the flat for a friend who told me that the flat was great. Thank you so much.
Wonderful flat, wonderful area, wonderful Aurora, with her collection of art books, wonderful Anna, who welcomes you with some fresh peach juice in the fridge, pasta ready to cook, chocolate cakes and even amazing shower gel in the bathroom… An inspiring place, very quiet, elegant : tutto bene!
About the Host, Aurora
I am a journalist and work as senior editor for an international monthly magazine. However, what I see as my real job is being the mummy of little Delfina. My favourite place on this planet is London, which I visit regularly, but I love travelling around the world whenever I have the opportunity. I enjoyed the island of St. Barth and Thailand, but am also fond of nearby places such as the Liguria coast and the mountains of Engadin. I am a friendly and easygoing woman and my hobbies are swimming and Pilates. I put a lot of passion into renovating this flat and only moved to a new place after I started a new family. My friends (and I!) think that this flat is a cozy and peaceful "nest" to stay and have a rest. I hope you will like it too and will have the chance to enjoy Milan and the vibrant Navigli area.
