Dexter's place was awesome! Bedroom and bathroom were very clean and home-y and Dexter was incredibly courteous and helpful. Would (and probably will) definitely stay there again!
The room looks exactly as described. It is very spacious and there is ample natural light. I really appreciated the bathroom that I only had access to during my stay. The entire apartment was clean and warm. Dexter was a friendly host and I would recommend his listing to anyone.
Super Plan!! Merci Dexter.
We loved our time here and it was an excellent base for us to explore NYC. The room was spacious, clean and well presented with Dexter's awesome photographs, cameras and books. The corner store down stairs was really handy for food and our little guy had a blast at the park a short stroll away. Thanks Dexter!
Dex runs a tidy, sweet location in Bed Stuy area. We enjoyed good company of Dexter's other guests, our own private ensuite bathroom and shared the kitchenette. Its a four story walk up so it has its own exercise program built right in... Things to bring: small towels and wash cloth...sugar / sweetener of choice and favorite coffee or tea. Its not a super quite neighborhood. I brought ear plugs just in case which made this affordable, accessible venue really delightful. Thanks Dex, you were helpful and easy to connect with..we'd come back in a heart beat.
Being from the neighborhood, we already knew what to expect when staying in the area, however, I will say that the other reviewers are correct in stating that the subway stop is a decent distance away. If you're up for the walk (which is not TOO bad, and the B52 and B15 buses will take you to either), this is a great place to be on your visit to the city. Dexter is very personable, though we didn't actually see him much, and the apartment is in excellent condition. The private bathroom was worth the extra $$, and the room having three windows and an accessible rooftop certainly added to our satisfaction. Altogether a pleasant stay. Only complaint would be that the quilt on the bed was threadbare and started to fall apart, as did the pillowcases. I'm sure these will be replaced soon though. Nice place!
good place - a bit noisy sometimes - but who wants to sleep in ny anyway. Dexter was a great and friendly host - very helpful. we enjoyed!

About the Host, Dexter
My name's Dexter. I am a visual artist living and working in Brooklyn. I grew up in The Bronx with roots to the Dominican Republic. I studied architecture at SUNY Buffalo and Yale School of Architecture. A traveler at heart, I've had the fortune to see places around the world: Mexico City and Antwerp in Belgium I once called home, while I've made several stops in India, Oaxaca, London, Paris, Berlin, Amsterdam.
I hope you make this your first stop in NYC.
If so, I'll see you soon!
