Beautiful modern three bedroom three bathroom house with ocean views 5 min walk to the beach and one and half hours from the airport. Pool, high speed internet, cable tv, Air conditioning, 2 flat screen tv's, dishwasher, laundry.
Close to Jaco and Manuel Antonio. There is good surf at the beach down below as well as in the adjacent beaches with beach and point brakes. There are a great variety restaurants with the famous restaurant Almendro on the top of the list.
The house catches the ocean breezes being on top of the hill. Walking north along the beach you will find an unspoiled beauty with the jungle touching the ocean and many times you will see monkeys. At low tide there are rocky points sticking out up to one kilometer into the ocean with waves braking into blowholes bringing up large water spouts.
Being located on the Central Pacific coast you will be close to all the attractions Costa Rica has to offer.
The new auto-pista to San Jose makes visiting the natural attractions around the Central Valley and the shopping centers in Santa Ana and Escazu very fast and easy.
The road from here south is newly paved and it now only takes 40 minutes to get to Manuel Antonio national park and 3 hours to the OSA peninsula and the southern zone.
To navigate around Costa Rica by car you can use (website hidden) maps or Waze (very popular and accurate here).
Buses north and south stop in the center of Esterillos Oeste 5 minute walk from the house or on the highway just outside of the village.
AC,Wifi,Cable TV ,washing machine ,dish washer, parking
I live next door and I have a cell phone so I can be of assistance pretty much when needed.
All our neighbors are friendly and I love the fact that we are a bit more private up on our hill but still very close to a wonderful beach great for boogie boarding surfing walking. Depending on the tide and witch side of yhe beach you will be walking you have good chances of seeing monkeys scarlet macaws morpho butterflies and all kind of sea birds .
Yes there is buses from San Jose a few times a day and some will take you in the village and other ones will eave at the junction by the highway
Esterillos Oeste has a couple really good restaurants as well as yummy home made ice cream.
Casa Velas was one of the best parts of our trip. The house was clean, modern, and looked even better than in the pictures. The house had everything that we needed (wifi, dishwasher and other kitchen appliances, washing machine, air conditioning, stereo, and tons of electrical outlets). It was great to just sit around by the pool or on the terrace all day, and some days we didn't even go any farther than the beach.
The house is only a few minutes' walk from the beach, and secluded so that we didn't feel like we were in the middle of a tourist trap. The house was still close enough to Jacó and Manuel Antonio that supermarkets, restaurants, and tourist destinations were convenient.
Brigitte was also a huge help. She helped us call the airport to track down some lost luggage, and all of her local restaurant and entertainment recommendations were the best we had on the trip. We will definitely stay here again on our next trip to Costa Rica.
We felt completely at home during our stay at Casa Velas, perhaps better than at home - we didn't want to leave! The house and views are beautiful, Brigitte is a great host, and Esterillos Oeste, a relaxing little village.
I was worried that we hadn't scheduled any tours or activities for our stay, but it turned out to be a good thing. We spent the week just relaxing at the house or enjoying the beach. During our stay we made one trip to Jaco via taxi, which cost about $30 round trip, and walked to town for groceries daily (about a 10 minute walk along the beach).
Even though the house is relatively close to everything, it feels very private. Brigitte, while readily available to help, let us do our thing - providing well thought instructions when we arrived.
One warning: If you stay in the master bedroom be prepared for early morning visitors. The incredible view of the sunrise from the picture window at the end of the bed might draw a crowd. It's spectacular!
Thanks Brigitte, we'll be back!
We had a wonderful time chez Brigitte, a spacious house which can accommodate six people comfortably. SItuated in a small village with a great beach and a terrific Thai-Caribbean fusion restaurant, the house is light, airy and well furnished. There are air conditioning units and fans in all the rooms. Our party of four particularly enjoyed the large deck with its beautiful pool, great view of the Pacific, and comfortable furniture for eating and relaxing. The house is convenient to all points on the Pacific Coast, including Jaco, Quepos and Manuel Antonio. It is best to arrive during the day, if possible, for ease in finding the house.
I along with my husband and 2 other couples stayed at Brigitte's Casa Velas and absolutely loved it. It was spacious, great location, and relaxing. The pool is fantastic for those mid day walks to Super Sol or the beach when you just need to cool off. Esterillos Oeste is a great spot to stay and it's centrally located and just a drive away from some greats places like Jaco, Manuel Antonio, Esterillos Este and more. It's a two hours drive from the airport, which isn't terrible. Make sure you fly in during the daytime! ;) The house gets cool pretty fast with the air conditioners and if you keep the windows/doors without screens shut you'll not have any bug issues... except for the occasional gecko. :) Brigitte was a great host and was so warm and welcoming. She was fantastic at communicating with us and we never felt in the dark about anything. She is definitely admired by the few members of the community we encountered and so helpful with anything you need. We loved our stay at Casa Velas and would recommend it to anyone!
Thank you Amanda for the great review you guys were so sweet and a real pleasure to have around ..I love how you could see Esterillos's beauty and I will never forget this amazing sunset we all had the chance to witness. All the best to you and all your friends Amanda .Brigitte
The house was great & the hosts exceedingly friendly and helpful.
The house is situated in Esterillos Oeste, which by normal American standards is pretty well off the beaten path and definitely in the jungle. You'll need some fortitude to get through the dirt roads that lead to it that have lots of holes and ruts (we went during the rainy season). Plus, you'll have to kick your car into low gear to get up the hills. You MUST have a car to reach this place. Once you get there, you'll find a nice newish home with an ocean view that accommodates many and has AC, TV and other comforts.
If you're used to a 5-star hotel-style experience, this may not be for you. But if you remember that you're going to Costa Rica for nature, it will be great. There will be critters that make their way inside the home. We also experienced some backed up showers, and spotty hot water at times. Our hosts, Brooke & Craig were responsive and did everything in their power to make our experience comfortable & fun . . . but this is a home in the middle of a rainforest.
Oh, we also got the benefit of daily visits from the house dog (forgot his name) who we welcomed. He was so sweet.
Regarding the outdoor furnishings, I would offer one word of caution. Make sure they are sturdy and will hold your weight before you plop yourself down. The jungle climate takes a toll on hammocks, chaise lounges, etc and you might find yourself flat on the ground with a bump or bruise if you don't take caution.
Overall, a good experience and I would recommend the house to folks who aren't freaked out by bugs. We saw macaws, parrots, and monkeys right from our pool/patio area which was really cool! And the beach is a short walk down the hill (though not really a laying out beach - though there are plenty of those nearby).
This Property was a wonderful place to stay ! One of the first things you notice besides the beautiful outdoor pool area is the sound of the ocean -- it's so relaxing. The house is very well laid out , comfortable and spacious. The kitchen is huge and has all new appliances and the beach is a short walk away. You can even see scarlet macaws in the nearby trees and humming birds in the garden. Bridgett was a great host and very accommodating . I would definitely recommend this place for anyone looking for a nice relaxing stay.
We recently spent 3 wonderful days at Casa Vela. The house is fantastic. It truly is a short walk from the beach and you can hear the waves from the pool deck and bedrooms windows. The house is beautifully decorated and well maintained with everything you need including a well appointed kitchen. The owners truly take pride in the home and all the small touches made our short vacation perfect. We hope to return soon and stay longer!
