Bijou cottage in Roundstone

House - Entire home/apt · Roundstone, Galway, Ireland

A two story terraced cottage which has been restored to a high standard. It's located in the center of Roundstone on Marrine Terrace. It's a short walk to all bars, restaurants and shops and a two minute drive from beaches in Dogs Bay and Gurteen.

The Space

The traditional exterior belies the modern airy interior. Downstairs, a large open plan living, dining area with galley kitchen. Upstairs, two double bedrooms and a large bathroom. It will comfortably accommodate two couples

Guest Access

The house doesn't really lend itself to sharing, so it's being let in its entirety. All yours to enjoy!

Interaction with Guests

My primary residence is elsewhere so I probably won't get to meet you. My young associate, Richard, handles bookings and access to the property, so you'll hear from him when you make an inquiry.

The Neighborhood

Roundstone is a little gem. It has a great selection of pubs and restaurants (check out O'Dowds in particular) and is minutes away from two beautiful beaches. The journey from Galway city passes through spectacular scenery in Connemara. A great base for alls sort of outdoor pursuits - cycling, walking and watersports

Getting around

There's a bus service from Galway, but realistically the best way to get here is by car (or bicycle!). There's plenty of free parking right beside the house.
Once you're installed, most amenities are accessible on foot or by bicycle.

Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • This is a great cottage in a wonderful village and we enjoyed our stay there. We did have a problem finding the place, assuming 'Bijou Cottage' would be enough-it so wasn't! Make sure you get precise directions, and your stay should be stress-free.

  • This was our second time at the cottage and it was great, once again. It's very cosy, yet modern, and the location is amazing. The cottage itself has everything you could possibly need and it's just like in the photos.

Roundstone is a very convenient location if you want to explore Connemara. You're a short drive away from all the most important places in Connemara but if you don't feel like driving (or cycling), Roundstone has a few pubs, restaurants and cafes and if the weather's nice, its great place for walks.

    I highly recommend the place.

  • A lovely house in a beautiful part of the world. We enjoyed a very relaxing break in Roundstone it's a great way to get away from everything.

    December 2013
  • The place was very cosy - the fireplace in the evenings with some nice jazz and wine makes you disconnect completely from the day to day routine. For the day, you are so close to an amazing scenery. We had a great time and we highly recommended it.

    Enjoy beautiful Ireland !

  • Mark's cottage is beautifully renovated and is very well equipped. Roundstone is a very nice little town, lying in the beautiful Connemara landscape. There's lots to do in surroundings (Gurteen/Dog Bay, Connemara National Park where you can do a lot of hiking, Errisbeg mountain, Clifden, Sky Road). There is Wifi at the O'Dowd's Pub/Café (but pretty slow). Hope to be back some day.

  • Mark's place is in one of the most romantic and idyllic little villages your can possibly imagine. The place itself has everything you need for a nice stay. There's two nice size beds upstairs, a full bath, and separate shower. Dog's Bay is a long walk or a very short drive. We were lucky enough to catch it on a partially sunny day as the sun was going down. It was gorgeous.

Roundstone is very quite and relaxing and small. There's not much there beyond a couple pubs, a store, cafe, and a post office. For us, it was perfect. Connemmara is gorgeous country too and entrances to the national park are only 30KM or so from the village. Internet connectivity is so/so with a data SIM. There isn't wifi in the village that I could find, but the place is so amazingly beautiful you won't want to spend anytime online.

  • Great cosy, comfortable, modernised cottage fitted out to a very high standard. Great location within 5 minute walk to shops and O'Dowd's great seafood restaurant.
    Highly recommended - we'll be back !

I live in Galway city. The house in Roundstone is my vacation bolthole, but I also rent it out from time to time. I have a young associate, Richard , who helps me with bookings and with arranging access to the house so you'll hear from Richard when you make a booking.
