The “Enchanted City” is a modern loft placed in the suggestive location of Cannaregio, a residential neighbourhood still untouched by tourism and very close to Ponte di Rialto, Piazza San Marco and all the main artistic and cultural attractions. The two-floor flat develops on 70 squared metres: on the ground floor it has a large and bright living room with kitchenette, and a bathroom with shower. The design stairs lead to the upper floor, with high wooden roof and skylights: here there is a luminous double room and another bathroom with shower. The particular compound that includes the loft was an old industrial building that has been converted in a residence: in 2008 this project won the award for Venice architecture. All the apartments face towards a typical inner square that ensures quietness and privacy.
Apartment was great and as expected from the pictures. We enjoyed our stay at the apartment. The location was easy to get to, which was appreciated after a long night out.
Our host (Valentina) was great and very friendly. We liked that she offered to answer all our questions, if we just contacted her over the phone.
We would recommend this place to anyone.
Gorgeous spacious apartment located close to train station. It had everything we needed, including a great laundry machine, AC, Internet, and fabulous washrooms (light was broken in one but we had a working lamp, and I believe it is being fixed). Affordable stay for Venice! Note it is a 30 min walk to st. Marks square; A pleasant walk to enjoy Venice but also can take a long longer than expected.
O apartamento é ótimo, confortável para 4 pessoas. A localização é longe do pontos turísticos agitados, isto é ótimo.
I have mixed feelings about my experience at this Venice apartment. The apartment itself was beautiful, well-equipped and spacious. We had access to a nice, modern washing machine which was really handy.
The host however really dampened our experience. We were told to call once we arrive at the airport to arrange a time to meet. We were delayed and called the woman who was supposed to meet us, she was rude on the phone to my fiancé and snapped that she had a kid at home and wanted to know exactly how long until we arrived. She demanded to know how long the ferry was going to take (we didn't know...we were the tourists) so we asked the ferry worker who said 40 minutes.
Because of all the mucking around with the phone calls (we kept getting busy message and couldn't get through for a long time), we missed the next ferry and ended up arriving late.
When we got to the ferry port we were already scared of her reaction, she called my name and when I responded with a smile she rolled her eyes dramatically to let me know she was angry. And boy... was she furious.
I asked how she was and said sorry for being late, she said "I am very very late!" and walked us to the apartment in silence.
The air-conditioning was switched off at the electricity board by the previous guests and we sweltered in sauna-like heat for the first 2 days of our trip. We messaged her and she came back to the apartment and was once again very rude and angry. She told us that we should have opened the roof to let breeze in and gone to the supermarket to buy a special plug to stop the mosquitos coming in.
She previously had told us that if we open the windows, stray cats would come into the apartment so we should keep them closed...which is why we did.
Thankfully the air-conditioning could be fixed so the apartment was much more pleasant to be inside.
We then found out why the previous guests fiddled with the switches. The power went out the next day but her phone had been switched off and she didn't reply to any texts or phone calls for the rest of our trip.
We would have been trapped without electricity or internet for the remainder of our trip had my fiancé not figured out how to go into the building entrance and found the electricity box (hidden behind a wall). It went out three more times after this.
It's a good apartment but the attitude of the host doesn't suit being in the travel industry. I would not recommend this place to my friends because of her. It was not a warm welcome to Venice.
The place has lots of potential if it was managed properly!
Unfortunately if this host wishes to continue to rent the very nice apartment, he needs to address the rude and very unkind Valentina. Our flight from Berlin was delayed, so while in the airport we emailed and left a voice mail on her phone, giving an approximate time of arrival at Marco Polo and the flight number. Upon arrival at Marco Polo we were unable to find wifi so couldn't use (website hidden) to call. We went to the Guglio Bridge, then as we were famished sat at a nearby outdoor restaurant and asked the waiter to call her. She arrived about 30 minutes later (fine with us as we were eating), but could not have been more unpleasant, berating us for interrupting her at work - and had a world class crappy attitude. I walked with her to the apartment, got a cursory overview, keys and she left.
The apartment was perfect for us, our 15 year old son took the pull-out couch. The wifi worked well. The skylights are a nice feature and automatically close if rain begins. However, a previous review noted that there is no light in the upstairs full bathroom, and it still had none. They had put a lamp in, but the light fixture clearly had burned into the wood surrounding it and this repair should have been made. The lamp is inadequate, makes the room very dim and unusable to apply makeup.
The location is very convenient. It's a shame this unpleasant woman has anything to do with hospitality.
The loft is very good. The location is lovely, a bit outside of the tourist hotspots but still easily within walking distance to them. Almost everything looked fairly new and was clean. Great overall!
Absolutely lovely apartment away from the madness of St. Mark’s square, but within walking distance. There are good restaurants in the area that don’t obviously cater to the tourists. Gam Gam in the Jewish Ghetto being an outstanding choice. We loved returning to this peaceful part of town after a long day getting lost in the labyrinth that is Venice (part of the fun is getting lost and exploring parts you might have missed) and returning to Nicola’s beautiful apartment filled with all you need, including wonderful art books. Being a photographer, I especially enjoyed seeing Avedon on the shelf. Well done, Nicola
Valentina recived us at the station. She was very gentle! The apartment is really beautifull, clean and confortable, and is very close to the the train station and public transportation.
We recomend it!!! Thanks for everything!!! We spent a great time in Venice.
A casa é excelente e bem localizada. Recomendo!
