2 story cottage with upstairs bedrooms and verandah..best cottage for early risers..this cottage has the largest kitchen, about 250 steps or about 6 minute walk from the car park up a steep hill..this cottage is not completely sealed and visitors can expect to see the occasional lizard, ant or spider..

The space

located in the foothills of jamaicas blue mountains, mango ridge cottages nestle along a ridge looking down to the sea and the market town of port antonio with its picturesque twin harbours.mango ridge cottages are within walking distance to public transportation,a town boardwalk and a vibrant crafts and produce market.several excellent beaches are minutes away by taxi..the cottages are an excellent base camp for rafting and hiking in the nearby rio grande valley..bird watchers will find many native species on the jungled property at mango ridge..the cottages are secluded amongst banana mango and coconut palms..all selfcontained units with small kitchen and bath, some wth internet access.the neighborhood is a typical working class community of small homes..the town is not dependent on tourism to its benefit and harassment is not an issue as with the major tourism centers..all in all,its a interesting place to live and work..some people dont sleep soundly their first night or two here due to the sounds of early morning roosters, dogs, parrots andwoodpeckers..this particular cottage is about 250 steps up the hill..the bathroom is downstairs from the bedrooms....there are two double beds a certain level of fitness is helpful...comfortable walking shoes with good grip soles are advisable...running water is not hot, unless you heat it on the stove...average year round temp.is in the 80s..the air is conditioned by fans and sea breezes...there are mosquitoes...ants and lizards as well..sometimes in your room...beds are covered with netting..long pants and socks are advisable in the evenings especially for children...i would go so far as to say that if you are allergic to insect bites, this rainforest setting might not be the right spot for you...their is occasionally loud music down in the town, but it is usually muted...if u are looking for the amenities of a hotel,i will be happy to recommend one to you....finally,a tip on luggage..suitcases are unwieldy and impractical for mango ridge.due to the steep terrain..backpacks are much more suitable..a third adult incurs an additional charge of 20$us per nite for this cottage..wifi in office courtyard..best to arrive before dark..

Magical place to stay. My friend and I had the best time in our three weeks in Jamaica staying at Mango Ridge so much that we are coming back! Michael was very respectful and made sure we were comfortable and safe. Him and his family helped us carry our luggage to our house which was really nice. He gave us tips to make sure we felt safe and were safe in the town as we are two girls travelling. The house is amazing. Humid at night but it's easy to get used to the heat and pass out. There are bugs but not to the extent we expected. Just a bottle of mosquito spray will help. Everything is so close to the house we walked everywhere. The stairs really aren't as bad as you would think. You'll be hot walking up them because it's humid out but it is more than manageable. Such an amazing place I really strongly recommend. It's truly a steal for the price.

Mango Ridge is a really special place and we loved staying here! The views from the porch were unbelievable, we just sat there for hours every day looking out at everything. The house has a spirit that is very alive and in sync with nature. Michael was very helpful and accommodating. Be prepared to sweat through all your clothes walking up the stairs!

Michael offers a great place for a good price. It has an outstanding view and we really enjoyed the time. Communication was very easy and the place is very central located. Michael also gives hints and tells you where to go. If you don't mind to walk up some stairs, and don't expect the cleanliness like in a Ressort (it is in the forrest) then this one of the most special places to stay. We would definitely come back.

Beautiful treehouse in Port Antonio not to be missed! As other reviews state, there are about 200+ stairs to get to the cottage. All of that being said, if you're in decent health and utilize a pack for luggage - this is a slice of heaven! The cabin itself has 2 beds, which could accommodate 2 couples or 4 people comfortably. For this trip, it was just me and my partner, but we appreciated the extra room to sort all of our stuff and liked having extra space. The views are incredible and we can't stop talking about it! We spent so much time sitting on the balcony enjoying each other's company and contemplating life. So inspiring! Again, the cabin is very roomy. 2 stories with the kitchen and bathroom downstairs. The shower is cold water only, but this wasn't an issue. After climbing the stairs to come back, the cold shower felt amazing. There's also an outdoor shower that we enjoyed. So beautiful to shower amongst all the beauty. All in all, if you want an authentic experience with amazing views and a host that is amongst the best I've had - stay here! You won't regret it! A few tips: - bring a portable speaker for music - use the route taxis for $150 JD to get around Portland - Winifred Beach is a wonderful public Beach that locals enjoy eat at Cynthia's! We already miss it! Thank you Mike!

Mango Ridge is close to paradise, of you love nature. The huts are very charmind and you feel like you're all by yourself in the tropical forest with an incredible view on the sea and Port Antonio. The way up is indeed a bit challenging with heavy luggage, but Michael welcomed us warmly and was always available dir question and tips. The town is just 15 min walking distance and it's a good place to discover the area. There's a simple kitchen with a fridge so you can easily make some food. Thanks Michael vor the great experience!
